[Archived] Steve Kean signs new deal?

Recommended Posts

but what if Venkys are asking for release clauses should he not meet targets?

He almost promised them top 10, so they must be very disappointed in him.

or maybe saying, we have faith in you but if you don't deliever on your promises you must leave.

If they were REALLY backing him they would extend his contract, not change the current terms.

What if a clause like that was already in there, but now, as he's very unlikely to deliver on those promises, it is being "readjusted"?

Unlikely, I know. But, I wouldn't put it past the nest of scheming barstewards.

Could be, but i would think that setting him targets would be a dangerous move. With some tough fixtures left in the season still to go and a run of 6 games where points can be picked up starting in our next game, giving him any extra time to meet these targets is risky, should he fail and is sacked down the line, a manager change would in all likelyhood be too late to save our premier league status.

How do these people have a business if the handle failure like this.

It makes no bloody sense giving this fool a new contract.

Surely this will drive the entire fan base to protest.

Those against the protest does this change your mind?

These people have a business because daddy gave them a business.

I think it is important to note this contract has not been signed and Im sure it won't be until results improve.

But why are they even discussing one ?

I said as much to him on Twitter. It's a slap in the face to fans to even consider offering him a revised deal at this stage. THAT is the important thing here.

We could pick up a couple of wins from here, I'm actually rather hopeful we might for the first time in a while but that won't make his record anything close to acceptable reading. 8 wins out of 34 is still rubbish and not worthy of a new deal

If Kean gets a new contract you won't see me again. Season ticket or not.

In that case can you send it to me and i will make sure it goes to someone who is unable to afford to go anymore and is so keen to do so( sorry to use the k word). I have just read through 17 pages of the most depressing comments over a rumour that Kean may have got another contract. We do not know if its an improved one or an updated one or whatever it is.We do not need to know. Why is it our business to be aware of a contract between employer and employee? So many posters seem to have the facts; even meeting strangers in a pub who happens to know everythng about this! How would you feel about revealing the terms of your own contracts to people you dont really know.Innocent Indian media magnets are going to be tweeted over this international incident. Season tickets sent back. Indignation abounds. Hysteria has swept across this message board and certain posters cant wait to stick the knife in without asking basic questions.

Wait for the evidence to come through before making assumptions.

I note with interest that Everton are in serious talks with Indian business people who want to invest in the club. Their directors might well see the benefits of connecting with one of the worlds leading economies and see the potential for growth. Is it not possible that we could benefit from venky`s situation? Rovers have always been at the forefront of change in football`s history.Being involved in India is another example.

We have to be self financing and solvent by next year according to Uefa. I think we might need the Venky`s help in this matter.

Your whole post is in WTF territory but this takes it over the edge.

Maybe we should be in the know because we will be the ones helping rebuild our club after Kean and Venky's have done their worst and f**ked off.

With Venkys record at Rovers, the last thing we would want is their help, havent they done enough bloody damage?

Maybe they have offered him new terms but it is subject to actual results improving. And maybe he has a target of points to reach by a certain date. And maybe if he doesn't reach the set target the new contract offer is withdrawn and he is sacked.

I have no inside knowledge whatsoever but it occurred to me that this could be why this new offer hasn't been signed.

It was noted when the LT photographed the Pune9 at Manchester Airport. One of them (naming no names) was wearing a "Mickey Mouse Club" T-Shirt. ;)

Wonder who that could be?

That was an oversight on my part granted, I do like that t shirt though!

Is this the unbreakable bond, Kean and the Rao family? A pay rise for a shocking performance as manager, nothing surprises me with these jokers.

As I mentioned yesterday, even the managers wife is getting on particularly well with Mrs Desai.

Whole situation is sickening and I fear not for changing.

I don't want to sound like a pro-Venky/Kean/whatever, but could it be that Kean has been working on very moderate terms so far and was promised PL-standard terms if he survives a year in the job? A bit like JW promised to Andrews?

It could be that. It could be that if we avoided relegation for the first few months of this season then an improved contract would be awarded? How's about a new contract for keeping the Press on side? Keeping a relatively straight face in press conferences? How's about for not being able to spot low flying aircraft? Maybe for not playing Myles Anderson? Maybe because he hasn't done a Frankie Carbone out of Goodfellas and his wife hasn't turned up in a white mink coat yet?

Who knows. It defies all logic. It really could be anything. One thing is for sure though - it sure as hell ain't for the good results on the pitch.

IMO, he is running a PL team very badly but still earns about two and a half times the salary of the British Prime Minister !!!

The whole thing where Kean is concerned, IMV, is an absolute sick joke.

Generally, there is far too much money in football which is alienating many, many supporters who are struggling financially to buy season tickets or even match day tickets.

It is said that money is the root of all evil and I just hope that this does not prove to be the undoing of our club once all the proverbial eventually hits the fan.

Well, we don't need to know - you're right.

It is the norm though, that football clubs publicise when a player or manager extends his contract. If the Raos were to break with this tradition, the obvious answer from fans already disgruntled with the clubs lack of PR, would be to say "well no, we don't need to know anything, but nor do we need to support you".

When you ask for the club not to liase with the fans about things they're interested in, what you're actually doing is supporting the club's alienation of the fans. If you truly think the Raos are the right people for the club and that Steve Kean is the right man, then you would urge the club to clarify his contract position properly, not issue lame statements such as "he's not signed a new contract yet". After all, if people are behind him, there will be much rejoicing with the fans at this move.

If there isn't, then open your eyes and ask why, because I don't remember a managers proposed contract extension recieving so much criticism.
