[Archived] Steve Kean signs new deal?

Recommended Posts

Surely the signing of a new contract isn't as important as the pay off figure in it?? If they give Kean a 5 year contract but with a minimal pay off figure then surely that's not a completely daft move? If, for example the contract he signed last year has a far bigger pay off sum in it, then it would make sense...

Do you, or anyone on here, REALLY believe that a man with Jerome Anderson as his agent would agree to that?

Sorry, but I just cannot believe that has even a 1% (to use Kean's favourite figure) of being true.

It could be the protest or....

Didn't the Pune 9 highlight the level of feeling about kean and his appalling record?

Yes

Weren't you also assured that is would be down to results, they must improve?

Yes

How many points have we got since you returned?

As the only fans that have spoken to the owners, perhaps you didn't do as good a job as you thought.

Untrue, this will sound arrogant but I truly believe we could have done no more, we said it in black and white, quoted figures of polls and where the anger would turn if action wasnt taken

Or perhaps, the fact that the majority of fans didn't protest, means that they will be in favour of Kean's new contract. After all, how will the owners know what the majority think?

Or perhaps, just perhaps, Venkys really are taking the club for a ride.

Or maybe it doesn't matter what Balaji wants, maybe what Mrs D says goes

Dear Non Protesters,

I have read/heard a lot of people saying there was no need for protests, and eventually Venky's would sack Kean before it was too late.

I hope your happy now.

Regards

Tom, I honestly believe you did your best. I'm just trying to highlight how ridiculous it is to try and blame the protests as the reason for a new contract. You could argue that those who have done nothing are even more to blame, as Venkys believe they're happy with Kean.

You, I and most of this message board know that all the above scenarios are ridiculous

Things go round in circles on here. First the 'kean inners' get targeted, then the Pune 9 get targeted, next the silent majority, now the protesters are getting blamed for things.

Venkys must be ROFL at us idiots blaming everyone but the root cause.

let's summise this rumour about the contract is correct, we get a point at Wigan and lose at Stoke. What do you think the mood will be on the terraces come the Swansea game? (apart from Dan Clough who'll be smiling all game).

Even as somebody who has tried to stay off Kean's back I find this bizarre to say the very least. Kean remains totally unqualified to manage in the Premier League and despite recent decent performances the learning curve is so steep that we will probably be as good as doomed by the time he gets anywhere near the top.

I wonder if the feelers have been put out regarding likely replacements but the word has come back that appropriate candidates don't want the gig?

But still... a new contract for managing to put together a set of results that could have been achieved while having a blow up doll do the selection and a dead cat do the team talk?

There is no rational explanation, none.

Perhaps now is the time, if this is real for a full on and well organised boycott. A high profile and televised game. Don't go the game and protest while the game is on, away from the ground. Dunno just throwing stuff out there cos this is disgusting imho. Empty seats by the thousands, well more thousands than the norm. Let Kean spin it that the empty seats are the minority of fans. Just one game MASSIVE and organised, it's been suggested before and the more I think about it the more I think it sends a better message than protesting.

Maybe he's had enough and was on the verge of walking and they placated him. He was certainly pig sick after the chelsea game.

They'd prob just get creative with the crowd figures so when the attendance figure reached pune it would read normal. I doubt venkys even watch any highlights very often.

Anuradha J Desai, the Chairperson of Venky’s, said:

“We are delighted, proud and humbled to be associated with Blackburn Rovers, a team with whom we share many values and ambitions. Going forward we plan to focus on leveraging the global influence in establishing Blackburn Rovers as a truly global brand. We will absolutely respect the Jack Walker legacy and will be actively supporting the organisation to ensure that Blackburn Rovers remains one of the best run Clubs within the Premier League. We are particularly pleased that the deal has the full support of the Walker Trust, the Chairman and the management team who will of course remain in place with our full support.

“Blackburn Rovers is an historic institution that has won the Premier League and we want the fans to embrace us so that we are able to do our best in the interests of the Club.

lies, lies, lies, lies, lies. Mrs Desai is absolutely totally and utterly full of ######.

IF this is true, and assuming there hasnt been a reworking of clauses and fees, just a longer stay and more money, then this will do a few things I think, some of which may turn out positive.

1. Anger the protesters even more.

2. Possibly turn some people on the fence about Kean and or Venkys into a more proactive role.

3. Help people against the protests validate and accept more now the people who are protesting since this announcement was made.

They might have taken one step forward and 3 back with the new deal for Kean.

The more I think about this the more I'm thinking (hoping) it probably isn't true, there is no word about it on the official website, the author of said article is 'football spy' I suspect (hope) that this is just some rubbish to fill the pages / web pages of the mirrors website that is nothing more than unsubstantiated crap.

Either that or I'm hugely sleep deprived and either way I'm going to be in trouble with the missus for staying up all night anyway

In my opinion that has been the case for sometime now. The Raos made a huge mistake with Kean and now find themselves unable to hire a replacement and have no senior executive at Ewood able to help them

Plus Kean and Anderson run the club and have for nearly a year.

Before anyone asks why the PL are doing nothing the situation is clear. Rovers are going down, by sitting on the problems at the club for the next six months the PL will be able to ignore the Ewood corruption as we will, by then, be a Championship club.

Don't believe me? Ask Portsmouth. There is so much money at stake the PL will do almost anything to avoid a major scandal breaking about one if it's members. After relegation it will no longer matter.

You ain't seen nothing............yet

the thing in my opinion is that despite the rumours there is no official mention of this (yet :( ) so even if what you are saying is true there is no reason to give the clown a better contract? I think (hope and pray) its just rubbish from the gutter press.

Surely this can't be true? Would a stupid move like this not look extremely suspicious and wrong to the wider world? Somehow the PR surrounding Kean has had the pundits defending him and criticising the fans, but a new contract would draw attention to the fact that something stinks at Ewood, would it not? I've never, ever heard of a manager being kept on with such a bad record, let alone given an improved contract. I think 'Football Spy' is flying a kite here folks.
