[Archived] Steve Kean signs new deal?

Recommended Posts

Surely this can't be true? Would a stupid move like this not look extremely suspicious and wrong to the wider world? Somehow the PR surrounding Kean has had the pundits defending him and criticising the fans, but a new contract would draw attention to the fact that something stinks at Ewood, would it not? I've never, ever heard of a manager being kept on with such a bad record, let alone given an improved contract. I think 'Football Spy' is flying a kite here folks.

please please tell me this is some sick sort of april fools joke

I stated last May that we were the next portsmouth as all the parrells were there but now we may even end up in a worse state when we go down.....does anyone really believe the puppet will turn it round these next 6 games will determine our chances but what happens when he F@@@@ it up ????????

Tom M - Get real, don't blame the protesters. The Pune9 did us no favours by going to India and allowing themselves to be part of Venkys PR. You were warned at the time but as an unelected group you were too stubborn and couldn't resist a freeby!

Don't blame the fans blame the Pune9 seriously people get a grip.

OUR FANS ARE NOT TO BLAME - NONE OF THEM

The blame culture in this country is a ###### joke, we need to be united to get through this if his new contract is true

My own opinion is that we're being run into the ground, I bet Mr Toad and Mr Mole are making an absolute mint out of us.

They'll only walk away once they've had their fill and this club is an empty shell.

It's disgusting and if I could get my hands on them I would rip them a new one.

Perhaps now is the time, if this is real for a full on and well organised boycott. A high profile and televised game. Don't go the game and protest while the game is on, away from the ground. Dunno just throwing stuff out there cos this is disgusting imho. Empty seats by the thousands, well more thousands than the norm. Let Kean spin it that the empty seats are the minority of fans. Just one game MASSIVE and organised, it's been suggested before and the more I think about it the more I think it sends a better message than protesting.

Won't happen Maty, too many soft arses who are scared to stand up for the club and are prepared to let the club just die . They have the kean themetune in their head and that's it ....don't worry about a ting

Because evey little tings gonna be alright

Don't worryy

Look, firstly let us find out if this rumour is true before firing the bullets.

Second please do not blame the Pune 9; they are NOT at fault nor to blame for what may be happening here; if it is true then the finger of blame must be at Venkys and their advisors, not even Kean.

The Pune 9 are Rovers fans (and the 3 I know are decent honest chaps); whilst one of them may have made some intersting comments of the wind up variety this is time to focus on the core issue and problems and not turn fan-on-fan howver much the odd one tries to wind you up.

Finally lets focus on uniting the fans as much as possible. What ever we do must be non violent and must be as high profile as possible.

Returning to the 1st point, lets wait for the facts on a new Kean contract.

One of two things are going one.

1) Venky's are merely a front for SEM/Kentaro, they get the publicity, SEM make the kiling and get their man in the top job.

2) Venky's are a tradiitonal Indian business and will save face at all costs and will not bend to the whims of mere mortals like the fans at any cost.

Either way the club is on life support.

Guest Rovers4Good

Venky's have shown no respect to the fans and now it's time they knew about it.

Kean isn't a good manager and his results prove this.

Well done Venky's you've just lost another fan.

Well that's a load of rubbish.

I haven't blame the protestors I have backed them all the way all I said is it is possible that sadly this is Mrs D's way of responding to them

Even if that was true, it's a sad indictment of the owners - not any kind of reflection on the protesting fans.

May be time to get the prem to investigate goings on at Rovers. Venkys are showing themselves to be unfit owners. The prem should re-examine venkys under the fit and proper owners test.

Maybe time for supporters to push the prem to act, before it is too late. Whilst we still have a club

As Paul said earlier the PL will wait until we are relegated to save the embarressment.

On what grounds?

The FA won't consider sheer stupidity as being unfit and the financials are currently only a lot of hokey rumours and interpretations.

Unless there is some hard evidence of corruption there's nothing down that route.

And even if there is, what exactly happens? Do the FA force Our Chicken Overlords to sell the club ? To who?

We are stuck in a mire and if the worse comes to the worse, the FA will have a review that will basically say "we will put in place systems that will ensure that no other club ceases to exist."

Maybe the doctors would certify them, they must be mentally retarded to even do such a thing as give him a new contract, so certify them, put them in straightjackets where they can do no harm.

I have talked to Venky's this morning and they have denied that Kean has signed a new contract.

BUT

I don't believe them, a very decent source has told me that he has signed a new deal. Some people saying that the new deal will make it easier for Venky's to sack Kean, not true. There is no way that Kean will sign any deal that would make it easier for the owners to get rid of him.

Kean truly is the "unsackable" manager, there are many many reasons for this, none of them football related.

They've got to be f**kin joking!

I hear by put my support of Rovers on hold till that idiot of a manager is removed and someone that knows what there doing is brought in. I love this club with all my heart and can't stand to see us being run into nothingness by someone like old "back stabby MaGee". Here I am as a fan taking crap from every fellow American supporter of the EPL because I dont support Manu or pool or chelsea or the gunners and now to add this to it! FORGET IT!

Once again till Keans gone I'm am. RFUSA...

I think this is how I am going to approach Rovers for the rest of the season....

Im going to protest like ###### against Steve Kean & Venkys after every single match I attend (home & away) but during the game Im gonna support the team like never before.

If its true and the PL just want to see us go down because its then, not their problem, well I want to make it their problem by cheering my team on and us somehow, miraculously, staying up. THEN, Venkys could start to try win the fans back by gutting the club of all the sh1t (Kean, Andersom, Agnew etc etc) and starting with a blank canvas. First appointment would be a new chairman, then manager and so on.....

The club would look more attractive to a decent manager if Venkys came out and, as I said, cleared out the sh1t.

This is now my approach, so Glen, whats the plans for our protests, cuz I am going to make a video of burning Venky's logo etc and get it on YouTube and try get it all over the world

The only good thing about this is that a lot of people who have been backing him to turn it around have now turned around themselves and said it's ludicrous. Seems that the thought of Kean being in a job for even longer is too much even for those who dare to dream Kean's dream.

I suspect if this is true then there's going to be a very large protest, probably spontaneous, upcoming.

Spill the beans then.....why wind people up - IF you know something and have good sources/ proof of it, spill.

Kamy,

Could the new improved terms not be a big severance package and they have give him x amount of games to improve results and if not, he walks away (once sacked) with a nice cheque and promises to keep quiet?
