[Archived] Steve Kean signs new deal?

Recommended Posts

What about if he gets a bigger wage, and perhaps a bonus if we stay in the Premier League...but at the same time having a clause that makes it easier for Venky's to remove him if things don't turn round?

If Steve Kean really is as positive about things as he appears then it's the sort of risk/reward deal that he would go for.

I'm just trying to claw a positive out of the situation. :(

exactly

conversation:

Venkys: so you believe we can still get into the top 10:

Kean: I'm certain of it, we are playing well, just about to turn the corner

Venkys: If so we will give you increased terms this year and a bonus if we reach the top 10, but if you don't meet your targets, you must agree to move to the academy at the end of the season, and we will look for new mangement.

Kean: Thats fine but that will not happen because I am positive we will finish in the top 10 this season, we are only marginally behind our targets, I'm very confidence in my players, we have a great spirit and will go on an unbeaten run.

Where do we go from here? Protesys, boycotts, what's the point?

Venky's do not care about the fanbase, they spend minimal amounts of time in the UK, they continue to back a divisive, incompetent figure that on the face of it is threatining 90% of their football business' income, yet they don't act.

We have been occupied and it will be a scorched earth policy when they finally let us go.

Some weeks ago there was a rumour about a new contract for Kean and Kean was asked about it by the UK press.

Kean said at that time that ''now was not the right time to discuss it'' or words to that effect. It is on some other thread on BRFCS but without searching can't recall which thread - there are so many similar re Kean.

The point is he did not dismiss the idea and indeed looked his usual rather smug self.

Perhaps the Owners proposed visit for the Chelsea game was to formally announce it? and perhaps the Rao's got cold feet and now Kean has spilt the beans to his mates at the Mirror to force their hand. What I'm suggesting is that the new 'contract' or 'deal' or whatever you want to call it is already agreed and done.

Some sort of announcement one way or the other has to come from Rovers toady now that the story is the the UK press.

What I personally really think is that all the senior Management and Advisors at Rovers and the Owners are a bunch of feckin shysters and do not have a clue on how to run Rovers. Their sum total is zero.

Not 100% sure but would they not have to inform officially, being a PLC, of changes to key menbers of staff conditions

I hope that you are right, but just at this moment the Indian media aren't taking any notice but I guess we haven't really seen large scale protests against Venky's.

Challenge the integrity of Indian Companies buying businesses in other countries, their motives, their intentions, suitability and ability to be successful.

Question all that on Indian websites, in their newspapers. Things will start to happen, particularly if enough do it.

If confirmed by multiple sources (I don't need Venky's confirmation as I simple don't believe them anymore) I wont be attending games till after he has gone. Whatever division we are in - and it might well be the conference at the rate we are going.

Maybe this should then be the next step.

Shoot me down, but the best way to protest is not to attend to the games. Then Venky's see for themself that we don't support Kean and we don't support Venky's. But it also says we don't support the team anymore. Stand outside the ground and sing and chant. Iam speechless. If this is true, Iam finally finished with my support of the team. Atleast to the mongoes are gone.

A decision I made in May. I won't send another penny piece to be shared out between Pune and Geneva. I got lots of stick for it initially but much less of late.

Maybe there's someone with a bit of time, that could do a list of the popular Indian press and websites that could be bombarded with comments.

They would have to be sensible and polite. To do otherwise would defeat any purpose.

ditto Gordon, I didn't receive any stick.

I went as a neutral with a Chesterfield ST holder (from Preston) to Rochdale v Spirerites a couple of weeks back and had a most enjoyable time. I am off, as a neutral again, with some Fleetwood fan mates to see the Cod Army v Wycombe in the FA Cup this Saturday and I am even looking forward to it which is something I have not done at Ewood for the last 12+ months.

Still a Rovers fan, and always will be - but not a penny to these thieving Venkys and their brown nose boys.

The black cloud over Ewood Park just seems to get thicker and thicker doesn’t it, and no matter how hard we try to remain positive, it keeps on affecting the fans negatively. People have woken up to the news this morning and groaned once again at the rumours that make the club into a complete circus.

To me it seems clear that if results continue as they are, people will soon (if they haven’t already) give up on the club they love, there will be no emotional connection anymore and no doubt attendances will begin to fall further and further. The resentment against Kean seems to reach new levels day by day, and along with Mr Anderson, he’s seen as the cancer that’s eating away at the club’s finances and destroying our reputation.

If the rumour is true, and we are stuck with Kean in charge (for whatever reason), the only support we can give is for the players to try and get us out of this mess. These days, all I hope for is a win for the team. By the looks of things Kean will not be sacked no matter what he does, but 3pts soon change people’s attitudes in the short term. From these next 6 games we need at least 3 wins to have any hope in staying in the Premiership and in my own opinion, if we can’t beat Wigan, then we deserve to be relegated.

Like most of you, I don’t rate Kean as a manager at all, but at present, it looks like he’s here is stay. Performances seem to be improving slightly; chances are being created, although stupid substitutions and daft after-match statistics from Kean are becoming a common theme, much to our annoyance. As fans, no matter who’s in charge, we all dearly want this club to survive this season and if by some miracle Kean does it, then we’ll all be more than relieved.

Our 'only' hope in the meantime is that someone, somewhere buys the club from the clueless Venkys and makes the club stable again, with a proper manager in charge. If the rumours of interested parties are true, then let’s all hope that someone makes a bid and soon. Otherwise, should we survive relegation or not, Venkys will continue to be the unpredictable rollercoaster ride.

Yes, but we still need to wait for the facts on what is still a rumour and nowt else.

Although I'd agree normally, the club however has become so detached from the fans they probably wouldn't bother to confirm nor deny the rumours. In fact they probably are happy about it coming out.

Wouldn't be suprised if the generals at the club are reading this site and Facebook and twitter and celebrating defeating and dividing the fans further with the latest FU to come out of the club.

Let's hope so.

The thing I can't understand is that Kean still has till the end of next season to run till the end of his contract so why give him a new one now?, to me it seems like Venky's reacting to the anti-kean protests by saying 'We own the club, don't tell us what to do'. What I think they are too stupid to realize is that they are alienating the majority of fans and that's going to come back and bite them in the long run. If it's true I will no longer be attending home matches, buying Rovers merchandise or doing anything that will support Venky's for the foreseeable future.
