[Archived] Goodbye Rovers

Recommended Posts

You won't get any criticism from me Preston Blue.

It is such a shame that long term fans like yourself are feeling the way you are, I can fully understand your feelings. The club that we knew and loved just under a year ago is no more, it has been replaced by something that no longer feels like OUR club. When people like Tom Finn and John Williams left, that was the beginning of the end for me. There are so many fans out there who have become completely disillusioned by what has happened at Ewood Park.

Like Paul said earlier, look forward to the day that you are able to return to Ewood Park!

No stick from me either, PB. Completely understand your POV.

As Kamy said, this doesn't feel like our club anymore. It isn't the Rovers we've all been a part of. Right now this club is a rotten, dying creature that is being slowly starved to death by a group of people who should never have come near the premier league.

The only consolation is it won't last forever, hope you find your way back to Ewood once this sickening era passes PB.

There really is the awful prospect before us of playing out the rest of the season sliding towards relegation (or hurtling) in front of dwindling but hostile or apathetic crowds.

Tragic that it should come to this. Every statement Kean makes increases the level of pain and bewilderment. His latest one, in the Mail, makes me think he really is ill.

This thread has really put into perspective what has happened to our club, Some people have the opinion "what will be will be", whilst others couldnt care less, then there is fans who would do absoulutly everything to ensure we have a club to be proud of to support.

I'm not at the Preston Blue stage yet, but fully understand his decision and its one shared by so many supporters I know,

I still have some fight in me, and when I read things like this it just galvanises my thoughts and supports my instinct to take the fight to the club. My love for Blackburn Rovers is so difficult to put into words, its been a big part of my life for over 30 years, and there is no way I will ever let folk who have been around for 2 minutes push supporters away.

Sone say this is a war we can't win? But my answer to those is this is more than a war, this is something I WONT let go off, and its something I WONT lose, I will be Blackburn Rovers forever and if enough supporters feel the same way, then Venkys have backed the wrong horse

You won't get any stick from me Preston Blue. I can understand why yourself and many others feel the way you/they do about the dire situation we are in.

I think the main problem is that even though as a club we have experienced troubles in the past (someone who has been following the team as long as you have probably experienced a fair few in your time!), in this particular situation there doesn't appear to be any end in sight or any real hope of us coming through it this time.

Personally I'm rapidly losing interest in Rovers and football in general at the moment. That's largely due to a major development in my personal life but at the same time I have become seriously disillusioned with the management on the field and off it. You know it's time to take a step back and do other things/interests when every time the manager of the club you love comes on the television you want to punch his face in, or you seriously cringe every time he opens his mouth and comes out with comments about the 'lack of dew on the pitch'.

The only Rovers related thing I'll be doing this weekend is checking the result late Sunday evening, life is far too short to be wasting time on something that infuriates you and makes you miserable.

Don't blame you PB. Football is a great thing to be part of and all that, but if you are so fed up with it all you may develop mental illness or have a stroke from anger and disappointment then it isn't worth the hassle. Life is to short to do things that'll consistently ruin your weekend.

Are you a dingle? You're far too busy with the -1's :glare:

This thread should be sent to Venky's & Kean to look at - it says it all that a hugely passionate supporter of 40 years plus feels like this.

I used to look forward to when we could at least give the Utd's, Chelsea's & Liverpool's a good game - and none of them liked coming to Ewood. Sadly we can't even give the likes of Fulham, Stoke & Wigan a good game at the moment. It's completely miserable to watch, and that idiot appearing on the tv and radio all the time makes me cringe.

I've been going to Ewood regularly since 1975 - those WERE dark days - but I thought those days were over because of Jack. Sadly we are going headlong straight back there if something isn't done now. What would Jack be thinking now?

I fully understand your frustrations PB I have come close to this recently but while I have a fighting bone in my body will do whatever I can to lend support to glen & Simon. I think kamy will also agree with me when ST holders are leaving and there is arguments among fans Venkys ipeptitude to fire coco leaves a lot of fans disillusioned about the direction of the club.

Can't quite match you PB, only 39 years as a ST holder but you put into words exactly everything I am feeling at the moment.

I too only have a certain amount of fight left in me and I will use that by going on the march on Sunday and giving vent to my feelings about Kean inside the ground both during and after the match.

This is unusual for me as the last manager I protested about was Bob Saxton in the 80's.

Venky's have been undoubtedly been a disaster so far for our beloved club but their worst crime has been their naivety in not seeing that Kean is so far out of his depth.

How can it be right that I have to turn off the TV or radio everytime I hear him speak?

Of course I want three points on Sunday but what logical reasons are there to have any hope whatsoever?

We desperately need a fresh start and even though that is impossible with the Venkys ownership, at least a proven manager who can unify team and supporters would give us at least a minimal chance of surviving in this league which we must strive for at all costs.

Sad times indeed.

Mike, sorry it has come to this for you. I cant disagree with you in any way, and after seeing you at Ewood this season it's pretty obvious how upset you have become. I think the response from the club on this, and many other aspects, is an absolute disgrace.

Having known you for several years at Ewood and seen you at grounds across the country, and Europe too, its a travesty that someone so pro-Rovers is now at his wits-end in how to deal with what has happened to our club.

Similar to Pauls sentiment, I just hope your absense is short and Kean is bounced out of the club in the next few days.

Much the same sentiment here Preston Blue. I have been a Rovers fan for 40 yrs and followed through the "thick and thin" when I lived in England.

I have lived in the USA for the past twelve years and will be visiting family in Blackburn at the beginning of November. This will be the first time

that I haven't planned a visit around the Rovers' fixtures.

Even my honeymoon ten years ago involved a Rovers v Liverpool game (1-1 incidentally)

I cannot get excited about parting with any cash to see Rovers play Chelsea this time. It seems a lifetime away back in 2007 that a "gritty" Mark Hughes'

Rovers side took Chelsea to extra time in the FA Cup semi final.

We didn't need Hughes in the post match interview to tell us that we had 59.67% possession or "attacked the box" 14.67 times in a power play period of

20 .34 minutes. We knew that the players at the time gave it their all... and if they didn't they were bloody good actors. Can you imagine the "spin" the

current management and owners would have put on that game!!!

Preston Blue I hear you loud and clear.

Chicken Town by John Cooper Clarke anybody.

It's pretty telling PB that you have received no stick at all.

My dear old grandad has been going to Ewood for 70 (SEVENTY) years and is at his lowest ebb. He was there after the 1960 fiasco, the 66' relegation, the spells in the third division, the almost bust years of the 80s, yet he always had hope.

Now we are just a complete shell of a football club and it is heartbreaking. Once fans go, they often don't come back, it is frightening to think where this club could be in 5 years.

There's a bad smell on this board.

Smells like ... hmmmm ... rotten, decaying, fetid chicken.

If the chicken turns out to be rotten, I ain't the kind of pussy to eat it.

Preston Blue, no stick from me, either. I fully understand.

Well I've had a season ticket since I started school in 71 and the only reasons I go now is to abuse foreign cheating millionaires and because it's cheap.

If I am at Ewood next season it will be as an occasional visitor I think.

If someone gets a new Rovers off the ground I will certainly be there.

Either that or AFC Darwen.

Not only has football gone down the pan but the country has as well and football hasn't realised yet, but it will have to.

How thousands can justify £40+ as well as associated costs to watch football at the moment is surprising.

I really can't imagine a situation where I would stop supporting the club that I have followed for almost 50 years. Like PB I have experienced good and bad times. This is one of those bad times where the uncertainty brought about by significant changes is causing us all to re-evaluate our loyalty.

Clearly mistakes have, and continue to be made by Venkys, but if they are truly commited to the success of their new asset then we have to maintain hope that things will turn around.

I will not criticise anyone for withdrawing their support but attending Ewood and getting behind the lads, yet making it known to the owners that we are not happy with things is surely far better.

As someone else pointed out, the current owners and management are just temporary tenants at Ewood Park, whilst we the fans are the one constant.

I say stick with the Club, there are enough out there wanting us to fail because of the Walker era, we don't want our own fans turning against us.
