Have his words done enough to change your stance on not returning?

No, it is action from Venkys that I want not from the Deputy CEO. Such as removing Kean, investing in new players, listening to the fans and putting the family back in BRFC.

I' m not that fickle but it is only right to give credit when it is due.

Paul Hunt phoned me 10 minutes ago? I cannot and will not reveal the contents of a private discussion but to be fair my estimation of the guy has increased, cold calling a naffed off critic cannot be easy?

He wasn't offering you the managers job then?

I wasn't trying to call you fickle, I was hopeful that Mr Hunt would have given you some clue about todays announcement.

If you had been willing to return then I would have assumed that something 'good' was afoot at Ewood.

Wasn't trying to blemish your character, merely hoped that the call & announcement were linked.

my apologies, I was not suggesting that you called me fickle nor blemishing etc.........it was me making a statement. He was professional and did not reveal anything about an announcement, why would he trust me with such information, and for me to use it properly.

What I am saying is that a simple call like that does go some way to restoring a wee bit of confidence in the club.

No need to apologise.

Glad he called you as that's more akin to the Rovers we all remember.

And some people never post anything useful at all.

Well I wouldnt go that far 47er, you did make one post that was useful, I think….

Yet again a good thread, with people posting passionate comments on how they feel about the current situation, situations gone by, and you feel the need to take cheap pot shots at fellow posters.

You bring so much to the debate ;) no wonder Tris went after you

Thats interesting, completely out of the blue also PB?

That's good to hear PB (that he took the trouble to phone you). Just to put some kind of context on it though, that's the first time I've heard either of the Hunt Bros making any sort of public utterance - verbal or in writing. Perhaps I haven't been paying attention. But hardly high profile are they? Am I really expecting too much to hear something from the more senior executives at Ewood? Ya know, how the fans are important and that sort of thing............

Maybe they are feeling hemmed in by Anderson and the chicken fiddlers.

I should imagine everyone is covering their backs in this organisation at the present time and are very wary of doing anything against company policy....like talking sense, being honest, communicating transparently, inspired recruitment, professionalism, courtesy, respect, decency and winning football matches.

Empire building, back-stabbing and self-interests will be key until things get sorted and something changes.

PB - Can I just publically apologise, I made some hasty comments earlier in the thread about hopeing true fans stay through thick and thin.

After this week I have to reconsider and say if the rumours were true I could see myself going the same way eventually.

Sorry for being quick to cast judgement, no hard feelings I hope.

I think there becomes some sort of breaking point for everyone. Myself and the rovers fans I know shared the views of many on here, but never felt right joining a protest. Well this week has tipped many of us over that line. I and a few others will be all aboard the next protest. 'Our' club is dying a slow painfull death and I for one am no longer prepared to sit back and watch it happen. Venkys out, kean out, rovers till I die!!! :brfcsmilie:

  • 3 weeks later...

Blackburn Rovers.

They are a team that my family have followed through many generations. They are more than a club to us. My wife cannot believe that even though I now live 4,000 miles away from my parents, all that our Skype conversations consist of is Rovers....Rovers.....Rovers.

Something struck me on the Wigan Preview thread. A poster pointed out that supporting Rovers always had a purity to it. We were a family owned club whose management allowed it to float above the scummy Premier League surface floor. It is no longer that way. We are now buried below excrement on the already scum soaked floor.

I still feel immense pride when looking at the badge, at Ewood and everything that the club used to represent. However, I feel no excitement about upcoming games and the only reason I still come to this board is purely for the reason that it is now a support group for the people who feel as bad as I do. I have no interest in the team that I now consider to be Venkys FC.

I still have no idea why Venkys bought the club, it makes no sense. No matter what anybody says, it makes no sense. It does make sense for them to take cash out of the club to fund other ventures though....

Anyway, the reasons for my feelings are obvious and I'm not going to repeat them and form a large post. The reason for my post is this:

What I want to do is stop supporting Rovers. I want to make my heart develop feelings for another club.

What will happen is that I will continue to watch us and feel apathetic. If we win I will vomit blood over Kean's smile and another three points for Venkys FC and if we lose it will just continue to feel like a hopeless reality.

I know that it isn't just me that feels like this, so what do we 'the lost fan' do?

I can't answer your question as to what we can do, having seen the club we've all grown up to love transformed into some kind of diseased creature infested with parasites... all I know is I could never support another team. If I stop supporting Rovers then that's it, I'm finished as a supporter. Football would just be an interest to me.

Support another club? That wouldn't be possible Steve, maybe you could grow fond of a team in the MLS? But it wouldn't compare.

If Rovers went kaput, that would be it for me, I would ignore football all together, apart from perhaps help set up a new phoneix club.

I fully agree. The thing is though, I don't want to lose football either. Every single Saturday throughout my life has been dedicated to football. Venkys are not just taking Rovers off me, they are potentially taking a tradition and a lifelong lifestyle also.
