[Archived] QATAR group bid for Rovers

Given neither us nor them expected Rovers to be in the relegation zone, with a good squad that can't win, watched by protesting fans and key people leaving the club. What should they do ?

  1. 1. Should Venky's stay for the long haul, or cut and run

    • Finish what they started. Follow through on their promise of Europe?

    • Accept any serious bid. Be glad their brand is now known in Europe and move on?

First time that has happened Phillip. Again, I doubt they'll act on my e-mail or any kind of common sense though.

That's who I sent my e-mail to. I decided to ignore Paul Hunt as I wanted to go to the top table.

Thanks for the email address's, I sent an email to all, nothing fancy just asking them to make the right decision for the club and sell.

I really don't see this happening, but damn it like all on here I desperately want it to happen!!

With the new Financial Fair Play rules that come into effect in the not too distant future, would a club like us ever realistically be able to play in the Champions League anyway?

I think more relevant at the moment is that we would realistically be able to play in the Premier League.

The financial rules only affect clubs that take part in the UEFA competitions. We also know how strict the rules are look at the Man City deal for sponsorship etc.

With Barca and Real(The Golden Boys of Uefa) in massive debt the chance of any club being brought up for breaching these rule is very low. As an example look at all the debt Man U have as that is held by another company and not the club that is 100% legal.

Poll Added.

I think in your haste you have spelling mistake or two. But then again I am a dyslexic donkey. :D

At this stage it is do every little thing we can.

Venky's care enough that they cancelled a huge trip to Blackburn for the Chelsea game

Quite simply they don't have the backbone / personalities needed for football and this was evident when they ran home early after sacking JW, as opposed to standing tall and announcing it themselves.

No, I disagree, they have taken all the big money and under Venkys, I cant see them making vast amounts any more, time to move on for them as they did at Man City, Anderson has made his money out of Rovers and his players still have a job so commissions are still payable, they wont lose out really at all, the pot is now empty!!

I thought they were turfed out of city after the whole

sinawatra episode? I don't think any sports agency firm would wilfully want to cede influence, power and money at

a football club. They would massively lose out of they are not in a position to command massive cuts of any deals. Just think they made £3m out of just £5m in Formica and Rochina deals. I imagine they got a portion of any sell on fees too. It might only seem small fry but why would you walk away from that?

That's who I sent my e-mail to. I decided to ignore Paul Hunt as I wanted to go to the top table.

I sent the following email to all of the above addresses:

Mrrs. Rao and Mr. & Mrs. Desai:

I’m an American supporter of the Blackburn Rovers. I’ve read there is an offer to purchase the Rovers from Qatar. If true, please consider selling the club.

I believe your intentions were good. But ultimately its results that count, not intentions.

You sacked Sam Allardyce, a highly respected and very successful manager. In place you appointed Steve Kean, someone with no experience and no track record. That gamble failed. Dissatisfaction runs high as against all reason Kean remains your manager despite an abysmal record.

John Williams left. Amazingly, he did not do so to retire as he almost immediately joined Manchester City, the richest club in the world. Rumor has it he left as he was marginalized. Any group that would drive away John Williams, one of the most respected chairmen in the Premier League, has a lot to learn. Unfortunately, the pressures of the Premier League are such that there is very little time to learn.

Rumors of Jerome Anderson’s involvement still circulate, to the dissatisfaction of many. Jerome Anderson’s dealings are such that he is distrusted by fans of many football clubs, not merely the Rovers.

There are rumors that the club has been subjected to substantial debt. If true, once confirmed the fans will be enraged.

There are rumors of an FA investigation hovering on the wings. Credence is lent these rumors due to John Williams leaving and Jerome Anderson’s [alleged] continued involvement. I don’t want this to be true, and pray it is not, but if it is, then the Rovers and the Venkys’ brand are dancing on the edge of a precipice.

While all of the above are largely subjective, there is one overriding objective fact which is poisoning everything, the league table. We have only won one Premier League match in eleven. We are deep into relegation territory.

All said, the fans (including myself) are distressed. Our Premier League future appears to be in considerable doubt.

From what I’ve read, you can sell, make a profit and move on, much wiser for the experience. You can even start again with a new football club and, perhaps, not make the missteps that seem to have plagued your time at the Rovers. For you, for the Qataris and, most of all, for the Rovers’ supporters, this rumored offer seems to be a win-win-win.

You’ve repeatedly said the Rovers are part of your family. If that is truly the case, please do the right thing and sell.

Thank you for your time,

Steve Moss

Those rules won't stop real money. I can think of a half dozen ways around them and I'm sure there are many cleverer than me who can think of dozens.

As I said last night, Qatar interest is very very real, things are at a very delicate stage. Decision now rests with Mrs D, this will be a one time offer, they will move onto another club if the answer is no. The numbers are mind boggling.

I expect this to be resolved one way or other very soon. If Venky's turn down this approach then safe to assume they are here for the long term.

Herein lies the problem Kammy. The majority of fans will not rise up against venkys in the short term, without having the above information rammed down their throats. It may happen spontaneously should we lose at Wigan, but not guaranteed.

I understand Andy cryer is reviewing Venkys 12 months in charge, is it likely to be (as it bloody well should be) to be a damning piece? Anything damning, followed by an update in this once in a lifetime offer, would surely tip most fans over to take some action for the greater good.

Just one question Kammy, who has been encouraging the Qatari group and other suitors to make an offer? Have venkys put out feelers or is it people closer to home.

There is 2 offers on the table, I know its hard to say this but the venkys will not sell the club and all, I want is the venkys to come clean with the million of fans of rovers.

I can't help but think that the key quote from The People is

However, sources at Ewood Park claim that not even a whacking profit would make the Rao family walk away now.

They have invested heavily in making Blackburn ‘India’s Premier League club’ and they do not want to lose face.

Venkys Out!

Millions of fans ! I think the club would be more than happy if that was the case.

I have been saying this lad has inside info from Pune.

2 bids possibly good but not selling is collective suicide.

One thing is very obvious now, getting rid of Kean is almost irrelevant now. Its about persuading Venkys to exit.

Agreed, but how do we get them to go?

E-mails don't do much good, Balaji thinks it's the work of a few protesters.

They don't live in the UK so we can't make life difficult for them.

They don't have business in the UK so we can't pickett their premises.

We need to be a haemorrhoidic pain to them so that they just want to get rid of the club to save grief.
