[Archived] QATAR group bid for Rovers

Given neither us nor them expected Rovers to be in the relegation zone, with a good squad that can't win, watched by protesting fans and key people leaving the club. What should they do ?

  1. 1. Should Venky's stay for the long haul, or cut and run

    • Finish what they started. Follow through on their promise of Europe?

    • Accept any serious bid. Be glad their brand is now known in Europe and move on?

Yes I would suggest that with the benefit of hindsight they could make a better job with a different club but He's never going to buy that one because his family would never do it again. Once bitten.................

Yes we know that, but too late once he has agreed to sell and the deal is done. Just get him to sell that is all that matters to us.

The Qatar Royal Family did indeed donate millions to the mosque at Bicknell Street, Blackburn. This is significant as it shows they already have some links in Blackburn, if the fans come out in an overwhelming show of support for this takeover then surely this may convince them to continue their pursuit a little longer?

I don't doubt that individuals in Blackburn have a link into the Qatar Royal Family so its one way of fans actively trying to influence the situation.

Combine that with an email to Balaji urging him to do what is best for the club and we will certainly be doing our bit?

Hmmm, threaten/blackmail a very rich man who allegedly surrounds himself with heavies and not rights...I'll pass thanks and you should too :D

I think if it is a genuine offer and it is about to sail off into the sunshine, then that is an intense amount of pressure being applied...like I said in a previous post, this is the playing hardball stage.

I am not advocating threats or blackmail.

The point is, if, as alleged, there are things not entirely above board in the Rovers' locker and if Balaji is part of that, then it can only strengthen a negotiating hand. Happens all the time in business.

My point is if he is the sticking point and the Qataris really want the club then some kind of sweetener that keeps him 'involved' with the club may persuade him to agree to the sale

Sorry but there is a massive sweetener already on the table.

I agree with Kamy's pessimism but Nixon's article unambiguously identifies the key blockage for all to see.

The pressure on Balaji which now flows from that will be far greater than most politicians feel and they set out to put themselves in the firing line.

Unfortunately, he might not feel it before he is asked to reconsider it but if he remains the sole impediment and reason why the sale fell through then everything will get personalised on him both in the UK and India and Balaji will be the personification of the inevitable trashing of the Venky's brand.

It will be tomorrow morning if/when Venky's say that club is not for sale, that will be the end of it as far as Qatari's are concerned.

Then in 12 months time they will be announcing that they are having real trouble selling us because nobody seems to want a buy a championship club loaded with debt.

How they have'nt destroyed their parents business I'll never know because they cant agree on anything, surely one of the golden rules in business to never let you heart rule your head.

taking the protest to the training ground is not a bad idea but we protest in front of the media and nothing happened.I like to say this if the owners dont want to sell its best if there come clean with the fans than.I will not believe the papers about the takeover why it has not happened, until you hear from the owners.

Wasn't Balaji the one who wanted his son to be on the board someday? Also at the end of the Arsenal game i'm pretty sure it was Balaji who was the most jubilant after the result and showed lots of passion? Also IIRC people said they met him during the Hong Kong games and he was very passionate and more clued up about the history of the club and the squad than the rest of his family.

If all the above is true I am not surprised Balaji doesn't want to sell.

Clearly, 75% of Venkys want out after only a year! This shows how unprepared and naive they were and how much more money has and will be required in contradiction to the advice they received.

So much for "owning the club forever!"

However what will be the response to Balaji when he asks the other 3 for the cash required to get us out of the mess Venkys have inflicted on us? If 1 family member can stop the sale that 3 want, what can 3 do when asked for funds they don't want to give?

Imo we will be worse off than ever. So, Balaji, wake up and sell you idiot!

I've just heard that Balaji was seriously considering selling until he met the Pune 9. Apparently he was so pleased that they accepted his invite and demonstrated such passion for the club that it has convinced him to keep it forever...

Knowing a bit about the current situation, the lack of realism on the part of Balaji is of extraordinary proportions. And yes there is a whole compelling list of persuasive reasons why they need to sell and sell now and no logical reason not to.

In short, selling should be an absolute no brainer.

The owners dont need to sell remember that the fans cant make this happened sadly and the only way i can see it if there come out and talk to the fans and remove steve kean, the matter will be solved.

No it won't be solved. WE DO NOT WANT VENKYS OR KEAN. WE WANT THEM ALL OUT. Why can you not understand this.

It's not just as simple as sack Kean and all will be forgiven, they have'nt made one good decision since they took the club over and treat all the fans like something they have stood in.

If they dont accept this bid they better buy Burnley and burn Turf Moor down to the ground and thats just the start.

Might be nearer the truth than you think. That trip did more harm than good to the Rovers cause.
