bob fleming Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Yeah sod winning football matches, Kelly Rowland, David Guetta and Akon is exactly what we need! I'd have money on Rowland being better than Myles. Something to look at anyway. As for the boy Akon?! Who?? Cloud. Cuckoo. Land. Imbeciles.
broadsword Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Can't find the words any more. It's beyond me. It's so bad you can't satirise it.
EwoodDawn Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 How ironic - some of the words to one of Akon's most memorable, sorry irritating hits: Lonely (so lonely) I'm Mr. Lonely (Mr. Lonely) I have nobody (I have nobody) For my own (to call my own girl) I'm so Lonely (so lonely) I'm mr. Lonely (Mr. Lonely) I have nobody (I have nobody) For my own (to call my own girl) Can't believe I hadda girl like you (Not a cat's chance in wotnot, Keano!) and I just let you walk right outta my life after all I put u thru (monumental understatement) u still stuck around and stayed by my side (not yours, Keano - BRFC's) what really hurt me is I broke ur heart (yup) baby you a good girl and I had no right (suppresses huge desire to swear) I really wanna make things right (Where's Karl Pilkington when you need him?) cuz without u in my life girl I'm so... (Please feel free to complete the sentence!)
philipl Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Whenever I think Venky's have redefined "moronic", they plumb new depths of idiocy. They are just a bunch of dyspeptic kids aren't they. Nobody can remotely take these chickens seriously. Venky's is a joke business run by a disfunctional group of posers. No wonder their share price has nearly halved since they bought Rovers- they have completely rumbled themselves as fools of the first order.
Backroom Tom Posted December 2, 2011 Backroom Posted December 2, 2011 They've done plenty Wrong but I'm not sure how daft this one is. Didn't we have a similar concert on ewood in the past? At least we know what the drinks license was for now
philipl Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 They've done plenty Wrong but I'm not sure how daft this one is. Didn't we have a similar concert on ewood in the past? Tom, have you any idea of the economics (lack of) of a crazy gig like that? Believe me, having promoted over 100 music events from the Royal Albert Hall down, that idea is bonkers squared. It would lose so much money that we could have afforded to bring back Phillippe Huber instead. As for similar concerts, we used to have a brass band going round the touchline at halftime.
Backroom Tom Posted December 2, 2011 Backroom Posted December 2, 2011 23rd May 2004 we had Blue and Girls Aloud at Ewood just checked. It may make no odds but at least I ain't going completely crazy Edit: although I did miss a key word in the article - that word being free Double edit: I also missed the date of it, well that will teach me to quickly read through things
Baz Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 They've done plenty Wrong but I'm not sure how daft this one is. Didn't we have a similar concert on ewood in the past? At least we know what the drinks license was for now You dont think having 20,000 people on the pitch 2 days before the start of the season is daft? You dont think planning this whilst we couldnt agree terms with the bank when we desperately needed new signings was daft? You think that Rovers fans really wanted a pop concert? Honestly? (The one in the past was done by Rock FM, not Balaji Entertainments corp.)

(The one in the past was done by Rock FM, not Balaji Entertainments corp.) Entirely daft and a complete waste of money. Balaji and his daft (being polite here) dreams eh? If I expressed my real feelings about this bunch of inept fxxkwits, I'd be banned from the internet.
broadsword Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 What really gets my goat is that they thought they could buy off Rovers' fans by giving them a free concert. Closely followed by the mind-numbing incompetence of it all. I'm at the end of my tether with these people.

They make the antics of the Addams family look positively normal !!
Stonesrick Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Four Pennies----halftime against Villa-------1966? !!!!! Yes 47er I was about to say the same. Four Pennies, Blackburn band that reached No 1 with Juliet! I remember it well.
47er Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Yes 47er I was about to say the same. Four Pennies, Blackburn band that reached No 1 with Juliet! I remember it well. They mimed, the weather was poor and they all wore track-suits!
speeeeeeedie Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Bugger Ronnie and Becks: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/dec/01/venkys-blackburn-free-concerts?newsfeed=true I thought Akon would have done it for free. He is a Rovers fan isn't he? The article linked at the bottom was interesting; Allardyce promised January transfer funds. Written on November 26th 2010. The last sentence is telling.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted December 2, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted December 2, 2011 I thought Akon would have done it for free. He is a Rovers fan isn't he? The article linked at the bottom was interesting; Allardyce promised January transfer funds. Written on November 26th 2010. The last sentence is telling. Indeed. 'We would never want to upset the fans'......
Kelbo Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 They make the antics of the Addams family look positively normal !! Aahhhhhhhhhh, so thats why when I ring Ewood they answer,'You rang' What really gets my goat is that they thought they could buy off Rovers' fans by giving them a free concert. Closely followed by the mind-numbing incompetence of it all. I'm at the end of my tether with these people. I can only reiterate my assesment of Balaji, he is the double in intelligence of Jethro in the Beverley Hillbillies, they had money too but Jethro had the brain of a 9 year old!!
bazza Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Four Pennies----halftime against Villa-------1966? !!!!! In the forties and fifties PNE sometimes played in the morning, 11 am KO and Rovers played in the afternoon. A popular pub question at the time was, "Who played at Deepdale in the morning and Ewood in the afternoon?" The answer was "Brindle Band!".
Mr. E Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Are Venkys the worst company in existence? Probably not. But by God, are they trying.
philipl Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 An excellent blog post on the situation at Rovers. There has now to be an all out insurgency to force these joke figures out of our club.
philipl Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Not settled with the folks who went to India under their own steam According to Nicko. Bit of a rum do.
