[Archived] Kean seals new Blackburn deal

Recommended Posts

Biding his time GAV, Kean knows that to announce it now would raise more than a few eyebrows in the media, wait till we win a game or two and he won't hold back.

Unfortunately, for Rovers, winning a game or two might be a long time off !!! Nevermind, he's supposedly got to 2015!

Is the point not it's cheaper to give Kean a new contract than it is to poach a new manager, back room staff and truck load of players?

Kean is the cheap option.

I would be a MUCH cheaper option than Kean - I have a decent record on a Thrusday night at Pleckgate as well, which gives me more managerial experience than he had when he got appointed - and would fancy my chances of getting at least 1 win in 12 with the group of players he has at his disposal.

Hell - you would even get a job in my backroom team Speedie Dived (every good team needs a boot boy)

Venky's and Kean are sly creatures, you cannot trust anything they tell the media. Remember "Sam Allardyce's job is safe"? Or "we'll have the biggest transfer budget Rovers have ever seen?" ... let's face it, these people have no track record of being honest whatsoever.

In the same way Venky's told everybody there had been "no approach from Qatar" because they knew there would be an eruption of anger over their refusal to sell, Kean isn't going to tell anybody he's signed a new contract until he feels he can do it with minimum anger aimed towards him and our owners. I have no doubt in my mind that Kean has signed a new contract, and judging by the shambles our club has become it probably included making him CEO, club chairman, club secretary and everything else.

I personally think that the club would have announced the new deal post match on Saturday had we won. Given how opinion changed drastically on Kean after the Arsenal game they were probably thinking that they could get away with the news after a derby victory. If this is their plan we'll be waiting until 2013 to get official confirmation.

What's worse is judging by the way some flip flopped in opinion after the Arsenal game they probably would have got away with it.

Kean definitely has to go, he is the primary cause of the breakdown in communication. Venky's are not leaving and can salvage the situation and do good for the club if they actually took appropriate action, so it's a moot point for me at the moment. No sympathy for them, but no hate either. They need to get on with it.

They are all part of the same stinking mess. Our club is an object for their own purposes. We do not come into it. The club is not important to the owners nor to Kean nor to someone else as a football club.

For some it is a cash cow to be milked, for others it is a plaything, a marketing tool. When it ceases to amuse or to garner any positive attention or to receive Premier League TV payments, it will be worth nothing to them. Once it reaches that state all that's left will be sold off, then it will truly and literally be worth nothing.

All those 130+ years count for nothing. We will be left with nothing.

Its taken me a long time to reach this conclusion and I feel bereft.

It could be a PR stunt. The plan could be:

Kean signs a new deal but asks them to keep it quiet until results turn around. When results turn around it's announced and they are hoping the recent improvement in form will reduce the fans backlash/criticism from the media. At the same time he can come out with loads of spin about that he didn't sign a new deal until he proved he earned it and that he understood the fans plus wanted to prove to them he was worth a new deal.

Said plan relies on results getting better and yet we can't even play well against Wigan.

I have a feeling said plan will fail to come to fruition.

Knowing Kean this will happen the next time we win another game with him in charge.

Edit - that should say "If we ever win another game with him in charge"

The fact they haven't just come out and admitted it means they know what a shocking decision it is. If they all agreed it was a good decision then there'd be no need for the cloak and daggers stuff.

Kean was made manager for reasons other than football and, as is blatantly obvious now, he's still manager for reasons other than football.

Jack spent years building the club into something for the whole town to be proud of. I won't let Jack's memory or this great club be trampled on by Kean or Venkys. I will do whatever l can, by hook or by crook, to remove these imposters from OUR club. Someone give me Vinjays number - desperate times.

Worth remembering that Kean has come out in press conferences and essentially admitted the owners have been offering him a new contract, and he has claimed it was his decision to put those talks on hold. So whether the contract has been signed or not, we do know that the owners have at the very least attempted to open contract negotiations with him over an extended/higher paid deal. I am convinced it's gone further than that, but the fact they even thought it was a good idea to offer him a contract based on his current results says enough.

Has this actually happened? There appears to be nothing in other national news about it. No quotes, no nothing, other than Nicko's word. I'm sure he'd have a very good reason for issuing that article but to me it's a bit suspect when there's nothing to back it up.. Either it's not happened or, as RVR suggests, there is a hush-hush plot going on.

I've been more patient than most with Kean but a new contract after our results since he took over is mad.

Talk sport were talking about it as though it was fact this morning.

Mind you they were defending Kean so I wouldn't take their word for anything!

Where are the payroll department based? Presumably at Ewood?

A payroll clerk on about £15k per year probably knows if Kean has a new contract but highly paid executives are seemingly in the dark.

Very fishy indeed.
