Why is the new contract news such a bad thing? The length of the contract has not changed so either they have changed his wage or changed another aspect of the contract. It is likely that they changed the terminal rules. Maybe when Kean first signed he got a decent settlement if sacked. The board could have given him more time in exchange for a new contract with a reduced settlement. Btw I am not pro Kean but surely this is a possibility

So Steve Kean says that its not the time to sign a new contract yet an official statement says a revision has been signed.

Not sure to be honest. imagine that Venky say to him after the chelsea game that he going to be sacked. Kean says judge me on the results of the winnable games I.e. the next few games til Xmas. At this point they agree to give him more games in exchange for a new deal with no pay off. Alternatively, they say we will double your wage but if we sack you then you get nothing.

Not saying this is fact but it is the only semi logical conclusion I can come to. That are the Venkys have taken mass amounts of LSD

we are going to have the worst happen......we are going down.....our only 3 good players are leaving....we will be deducted points at some point as none of what is going on behind the scenes has the remotest smell of being above board.

I actually just want it all to happen very quickly as the whole venkys smell and keans presence has completely tarnished how i support the club....i don't want any of them here i am expecting to lose every week but very almost wanting to lose to speed up the inevitable and get the club to position in league 1 with a cleaan slate where i can whole heartedly support them again.

The positive note on this is that Kean, again, has been proven a bald faced, quite literally, liar.... how is that positive? Well it means none of us were wrong when we thought he was lying.... again.

But it isn't just Kean - further proof about our owners and how they treat the fans. They also tried to spin the same line that now wasn't the time to talk about contracts. To be honest I am not angry any more - Wigan was only the second match I have left early in over 30 years of watching Rovers - I am slowly getting to the point where I don't care. I wasn't around for the FA Cup Final - but I believe that many fans stopped going after it - maybe this is another such moment for the Rovers fan base. Though of course those fans may be replaced by Burnley fans coming down for a laugh.

1. The statements from the club since Venkys took over have been getting shorter & shorter as stated in the other thread who wrote this statement? a 12 year old school child they have become a total joke.

2. The statement also states a revision to his contract what revision that statement says absolutely nothing whther it's a pay-rise or a reduction as stated last night at the radio Lancs FF they need to appoint a proper structure at the club to get things back on track.

3. It states they would not make any further comment on the situation this seems strange no other club in any of the leagues remains tight-lipped about contract news this coupled with the no show at radio lancs begs the question are they re4ally bothered about their so-called baby?

4. Usually when anyone a player or manager gets a new contract/payrise every club comes out with a long statement saying the manager has done tremendously well & deserves his new contract/payrise all that states is he's got revision to his contract it states nothing why they have given him better terms nothing is explained as to why that statement is a total shambles.

5. The way this has been handled coupled with that poor excuse of a statement the disappearing act at Wigan & the no show at Lancs evg telegraph for the FF and the no show at Chelsea the home game says to me something sinister is going on behind the scenes and even from A.Nixon last night the whole going's on at blackburn he has never known anything like it as it's a total shambles from top to bottom & the club needs a proper structure going into a defining moment in the season he even stated the sumer window was a shambles and we can ill afford to carry on like this for the winter window or we'll be relegated and this from an outsider looking in.

The contract length has NOT BEEN EXTENDED. I think that is significant in itself. Keeping what is in it quiet, may also be significant. It could even say, lose the next match and your out.

Nah, he is here for as long as he wants. Taking a million and a half quid a year from the club. All this during a recession with millions of people who are competent at the job out of work.

He is not BRFC manager for football reasons, and he hasn´t been given this contract for football reasons, either.

The question is, who gave him this contract? It makes no sense that it would be Venky´s. Not unless they are getting something back from it.

It would be interesting to see the actual contract and whats changed, maybe it'll leak if someone feels strongly enough about exposing its contents. I cannot for the life of me see any reason to reward this mans efforts as Blackburn Rovers manager.

I've spent many hours over the past 12 months defending the owners, and defending the manager because I thought they'd get things right, how wrong could I have been. They’re completely out of their depth, and between them are destroying the club each and every minute Kean stays in charge.
