[Archived] Kean seals new Blackburn deal

Recommended Posts

Some food for thought... IF the deal has been signed and IF it was done a couple of weeks ago as some people have said and IF Venky's were shocked at the anger of the fans on Saturday with Balaji reportedly saying 'we will sort it out' then there might be still some cause for optimism.

I do not think that it is a coincidence that this story from Nicko has appeared on the same day that the club's main sponsor WEC has come out with such withering criticism of Venky's lack of leadership and just after it was reported that Venky's ran away from the fans at Wigan away. - I think I can feel a chorus of 'Hark, the herald angels sing' coming on ! - It is a desperate attempt to stem the Anti-Kean and Anti-Venky's tide by trying to demoralise the protesters with this 'news'. This just shows how rattled they are.

Now would be a good time to turn up the heat on Venky's and their brand.

Has this been confirmed? I just want to check that before I actually totally flip out.

There is no press release on the Club's official website yet. I think they issue them late afternoon UK time.

However I doubt that anyone at Ewood Park has a clue what's going on - apart from lip licker.

See how the toad has made Robbo do most of the press after the Wigan game. The devious little piece of spent chickem cum using one of the players whom fans most respect to try and cover himself. What a horrible, horrible man.

Who was it on here that knew a local ref who said that if Kean is given a new contract the ref would ask the FA to investigate?

I personally think its time to get a fund going to hire a private detective to dig into Keans activities on and off the pitch

where's the NOTW when you need them??

whats the point? you pay for a plane, you buy flowers, you sing Kean out, you protest walk, you sit in, you watch the club adrift in relegation and Kean gets a new contract.

What can possibly Glen do now?

Glen is getting nothing out of this, even his family are affected.

Keep grinding and ultimately the owners will get fed up and get rid. We might be in the Championship when that happens, and we might not have much left - but at least we will get our club back.

What do you suggest as an alternative? Just sit and watch while they destroy something we love?

Well one thing not to do is bend over, stick your head in the sand and get done up the bun.

Just discussing it in the office – massive message to fans basically telling them to f off.

Summed up quite aptly by someone – one of the strangest decisions I have ever seen given where you are in the table, walk away mate…. you can’t support a club that doesn’t support its fans

Good advice really, how desperately sad.

The club we supported no longer exists. Something is there pretending to be it, but its not worthy of the name Blackburn Rovers. Its a carcass, a shell, the Rovers we knew and loved is no more. Devastating.

Came back from a truly painful appointment at the dentist to see this news. What an absolute effing joke our once proud football club has now become. Why the heck would Mrs D sanction such a deal when she is supposedly desperate to get out of ownership of the club these days?

Time to set up some sort of funding campaign to fight back. Its time to up our game. We have 2 weeks to prepare something for the next home game, and in the meantime we have the Sky cameras at Stoke on Saturday.

How thick do you have to be to realise that if they sacked Kean it would go some way to improving the relationship between the club and the fans. Sack Kean, appoint a chairman / woman to run the club from Ewood, sack off bloody Agnew and bring in a new manager.

Those who are pro Venky's and pro Kean, please come and justify yourselves because even the most positive of fans surely cannot justify giving a new contract to a 'manager' who if his 30 odd games in charge had been in 1 season would've relegated Blackburn Rovers with ease by now. Instead it looks like we are in for a bloody painful few months.

Will somebody please rescue us from these clowns :(

After reports of Steve Kean's new contract. Today Is the day I stop supporting this. Venkys little does this mean to you but today you have lost a life long fan. A fan who traveled to most away matches and who traveled 210 miles to home games. Your never touch another penny of mine. You would rather stick by your puppet then stick by us fans so now we stop sticking by you. The only way to hurt you the way you have hurt us in this year in charge is to stop attending games. Without us fans Blackburn Rovers is nothing, yet you continue to run this club without the fans. So carry on without me and several thousand more who today will be taken this stance. I will forever be Rovers until I die but I never imagine Blackburn dying. Thats exactly what you have done, you killed Blackburn Rovers. You turned this small town family club into a war zone unsafe for my daughter to continue attending game. You should of never gone against the fans and there is no going back now to amend your idiotic mistakes. There is also no going forward under your ownership or Steve Kean's. 1 win this season, 12 games gone , new contract. Steve Kean or 25 thousand fans. Your almost laughable. Take our club but your never be apart out or history. Theres only one Jack Walker!

It's tricky to decide what to do next. The protests worked to an extent in that it got the attention of the media, reading articles in recent days it's clear that the media know that a majority of Rovers fans aren't happy. But it hasn't achieved the ultimate goal of removing the manager.

A mass boycott looks like the next logical step, but then I can't see fans en masse doing that for fear of the impact it might have on the team. The way I see it is the manager is doing so much damage to the team that a boycott wouldn't have that much of a detrimental impact on the players, we can't get any lower or perform any worse.

As much as I hate the imposter who wouldn't sign a new cotract giving them more money and on the face of it offering more security. The real villains are Venky's and they should be demonised. I would love to see a mass boycott and a lightening strike by all the matchday staff at Ewood. Now that would make the news as no game could take place. Ultimately Venk's would be responsible as owners for not playing a fixture. We would probably be docked points but for me it's gone way past that now.

Not the worst idea but could somebody tip me off as to which game this is going to happen at and I'll save myself a wasted 450 mile round trip

This quote is from the horses mouth:-

"Yes, there have been discussions about a new contract, but I have told the owners that this is an inappropriate time to conclude any new contract discussions."

Lies, lies and more damned lies.

The ultimate goal now has to be to remove the owners, not just Kean. Almost every move they make negatively amaze me - how they passed up the Qatar offer is beyond me.

Too late Mr. Kean, your pal Nixon already grassed on you and its too late to take it back.

Its a done deal.

I think this signifies that the club is dead. No leadership structure, Irresponsible financial decisions, an incompetent manager, sponsors wanting out, our most valuable player has not signed a contract, dissatisfied and disappointed fans, and falling attendances.

Venkys have not made a single good decision since taking over..

On the contrary, now is not the time to give up and now is the time Glen will need all the help he can get.

reluctantnicko Alan Nixon

@

@icanandido No. Been discussed from about six weeks ago. Final snag been removed in past few days.

Nicko answering questions about the timing. This would be consistent with Kean signing the new contract before the Wigan game on Saturday. Might also explain the reported presence of lawyers with part of the Rovers party on Saturday.

More like he has signed a new deal but the club is waiting for the right time for it to be announced (probably after a win) in order to reduce the impact of any fans backlash.

Kean is under serious pressure from the fans, can you honestly see him saying to Venky's:

"No I don't want to sign a new deal that pays me more each week and will pay me more if we decide to part ways. I'll wait and see how results go and then sign a new deal then."

I don't see it. If the deal is in his interest he's not going to delay signing it, from what we have seen so far he doesn't give a fig about the fans one bit.
