slough_rover Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Stick with my idea of all fans standing outside Ewood park with banners stating that they refuse to enter until Kean is gone.

tomphil Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 This may not seem like the most obvious of ways to protest, and this suggestion isn't intended to replace any of the more 'visible' forms of protest, but it is one angle that was used by Liverpool fans in their protests against their previous owners (and possibly helped to force the sale of the club). Target the lender - the bank that Venkys have mortgaged the club with. Find out who they are and boycott the bank and all its subsiduary/sister companies - so if you have any financial products with the same bank (or subsiduary) move them, but most importantly write to the Chief Executive to tell them why. And while you're at it remember not to let the club have any of your money (except tickets) - so no food or drinks at the ground, no programme and no purchases in the club shop. It may seem a small thing but it will eventually have an impact to revenues. I'm trying whenever possible to encourage local organisations who normally would use Ewood as a conference venue to book elsewhere. Good idea on the bank thing but rovers fanbase is too small to have any impact i would think. A team like liverpool have millions of fans in this country so it may have helped their cause.
Backroom Tom Posted November 28, 2011 Backroom Posted November 28, 2011 Just out of interest how much would it cost for people to go to Pune? With Venkys looking unlikely to visit these shores anytime soon, the natural progression maybe to go there. If we got the press on board then it would perhaps put a bit of added pressure on Venkys to have an audience with some supporters. Of course supporters could go and not get to see them, but surely that would be a own goal for the owners? Also who would be up for going? Just a point but anything like this would need to be planned a bit in advance as it takes a good few weeks at least to sort a visa out. I would be amazed if they didn't at least speak to fans who made their way out there but then again it's come to the point where nothing should be a surprise. If anyone's going get Birdy back out there, I feel we were all lied to (and maybe continue to be lied to) but him maybe more than most and he is as die hard blue and white as they come.
ABBEY Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Mum they said if things were bad they would fire him ? How bad did they actually mean?
PAFELL Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 There have been a number of peaceful sit-ins. It is not without precedent by any imagination. However, I'm not sure Rovers fans would be united. Too many seem to support Kean, and the general management that is seeing us relegated. Would they sit by idly? It seems there are some who will fight for Kean, against those who are trying to fight for the club. A sit in and invading the pitch are completely different. Invading the pitch is an arrestable offence. which is also likely to get you a banning order for quiet awhile. Also cause major problems for the club, no matter who the owners are or the manager is.
jim mk2 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 A pitch sit-in would work if several hundreds / thousand plus were involved. Quite simply, through sheer numbers there would be too many for the security people to arrest . A few might get a banning order but with the current spiral of decline at Ewood I doubt it would bother them while the "damage" it might or might not cause to the club is irrelevant - the damage has already been done.
Jackson Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 As they watch the action on the box, I'm afraid the only way for them to see the unrest is to protest during the matches themselves. Other modalities will simply not reach them, imo.
rovers11 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 The only way to really make an impression on the owners is by going to Pune. They don't care about the protests at Ewood.

London_Rover Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I wouldn't be able to go, but would be willing to donate to a fund to pay towards someone else going.
LeChuck Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Tom said it takes weeks to sort out a visa. It seems a bit pointless, we'll be relegated by the time the visa comes through. I don't know what the answer is but it has to be big and it has to be immediate to have any chance of working in time.
dave birch Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 How about an early protest at the ground. Do it so that Kean has to have protection to get to the ground, make him walk the walk, so to speak. No violence, just noise. Wait until the last minute to get in and watch the game. Other than that, there could be a boycott of the first five minutes.
bob fleming Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Wait until the last minute to get in and watch the game. Taking my seat after 89 minutes would probably be more enjoyable Dave.
Stuart Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Plan B needs to 1) be legal, popular, easy and cheap to join in and 2) be successful in getting us a new manager. Assuming Venkys are going nowhere, replacing Kean seems the only end game. Because Plan C is this: accept that the club is no longer what it once was; the fans are now an irrelevant, penny-sweet customer; and decide if you want to carry on supporting the club and giving Venkys your money. It's unpalatable but it feels like the crossroad is up ahead.
Emge Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 What about making a sort of mini-documentary, semi-pro, where you interview random fans in Blackburn and sort of talk directly to Venkys about how we feel and what we feel needs to be done. Then send it to Venkys in India. Of course, if Venkys had the guts to face the fans face to face, then that would have been a million times better though...

As long as the people interviewed provided an educated, coherent and of course a passionate message to the Venky’s. Not just some one demanding Kean Out because he’s SH*T.
chromesub Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 If the reason they're stuck with Kean is no one else wants the job, is it possible in any informal channels to find someone who does. And then tell the Venkys - here is someone, now go fire Kean.
joey_big_nose Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Abbey mentioned that people should camp out in tents on the pitch. That obviously would be illegal and I'm sure he wasn't being serious. However there must be a legal way to run some kind of 'Occupy Ewood' campain? By tying it in with the global protest it would be a way of getting huge press coverage. And in many ways the drivers for the Occupy Movement are similar to our own issues with Venkey's. *Wealthy owners out of touch with grass roots *Lack of reformative action *Lack of long term planning etc. I think going down this route would be a real winner. However it would mean some folks having to camp out near the stadium in the december cold...
Amo Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 If the reason they're stuck with Kean is no one else wants the job, is it possible in any informal channels to find someone who does. And then tell the Venkys - here is someone, now go fire Kean. Nah, that's bull. Even with our current state of affairs, there'd be no shortage of applicants, and they'd all be preferable to Kean.
pksrover Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Apologies if this has already been suggested...however why wave with a white handkerchief during the match? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is a tradition in Spain when they've had enough of the president and want him to walk? We can use this to give a clear sign to Owners and Kean, and it won't cost a lot of money to bring a white fabric size of a handkerchief. And the stewards can't ask you NOT to bring a handkerchief
Ste B Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Tom said it takes weeks to sort out a visa. It seems a bit pointless, we'll be relegated by the time the visa comes through. You could apply for a Visa in a couple of weeks. I'd suggest that anybody planning on going to not publicise it mind.
Darwen_Blue Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 WEC Group chief in Blackburn Rovers meeting I can't really see the message getting passed up the chain from Paul Hunt and was it just about WECs reputational damage of being associated with Rovers & Venky's at this time. WEC Group chief in Blackburn Rovers meeting

67splitscreen Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 The fans will tow the party line, or, well just ask JW.
chris Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 here is a question, does it matter if 500 or 100 or 5000 or 10,000 fans protest because Kean will never tell the truth and they will still be a minority. Almost seems pointless.
