[Archived] Next protest

Recommended Posts

The kind of sustained and spontaneous abuse Kean and the owners got at Wigan and Stoke has had more of an impact than all the organised protests put together.

Not sure why we can't continue down this route and not week after week of thinking up stunts that attract only a small part of the crowd.

After successfully banning banners, and trying to further take away people's freedom of speech it appears our safety team is going to advise other clubs, how to safely stop supporters having a voice.

I can just imagine the opening speech,

"Its our recommendation that you silence your supporters by taking away all visual aids, be that banners or t-shirts or anything which may suggest things are not rosie in the garden. If they resist, then get the Manager to put statements out ridiculing their numbers and their opinion. Its important in the light of safety that you upset supporters by making them defensiveless and feelings of helplessness. The message should always be its your way or the highway, This will always bring a safer environment within our stadiums, and if there are any incidents, Then blame those who we have silenced, Welcome to the future, welcome to Venkys way"

After being part of negotiations regarding safety over the last three months, i do think Rovers should be the last team giving recommendations to others

What has our club become?

Its fans are being made its enemy. Sad times.

To be honest I have no idea. Fully understand and share the fustrations. All I know is that something has to be done 'legally' that the club cannot intervine and stop. What is another subject.

I don't know the answer - I wish I did. It is not possible for me to be more proactive for a number of reasons.

try hunger strike?

You'll be arrested if you do.

Who gives a (Please don't use that word again)?

With any luck, a pitch invader would be banned from Ewood for a few years, would cheer them up no end.

But if 15,000 invaded, there'd be there until Burnley win a trophy nicking people.

If there was a pitch invasion then sadly I don't think the safety of our esteemed manager could be guaranteed. Sorry about that.

Im not sure if this has been suggested, but why not have as many people as possible turn their back on the pitch for the first 5 or 10 minutes of the match, as well as banners, t-shirts and chants ECT.

turning their backs was deemed not the best idea because this would involve standing up and blocking the view of those who wish to not join in, however a situation where people got up, left their seats and stayed on the concourse was mooted

Then in my opinion, they are in breech of human rights, we now are being dictated to far to much here, maybe a petition to Parliament, 1,000 on line signatures would be enough for a government debate into the gagging orders made by BRFC or should I say Venkys, I feel sure that the right to protest should indeed be a human and civil right, if the Government were to vote against that, they have set a precident with regard to any protests, political or otherwise!!

Thanks Mark, i dont think it would have half the effect if people just left their seats. The message is sent by turning backs on the game.I think those who are to spinless or brain dead to want to protest/stand up for what the club was, can learn to deal is not being able to see the game for 5 minutes or so.

Just out of interest how much would it cost for people to go to Pune? With Venkys looking unlikely to visit these shores anytime soon, the natural progression maybe to go there. If we got the press on board then it would perhaps put a bit of added pressure on Venkys to have an audience with some supporters.

Of course supporters could go and not get to see them, but surely that would be a own goal for the owners?

Also who would be up for going?

I am up for going Glen but would suggest that we use a separate email account so the spies are not aware.

If anyone's going get Birdy back out there, I feel we were all lied to (and maybe continue to be lied to) but him maybe more than most and he is as die hard blue and white as they come.

Slow down Tom! Why not first get him, John Pittard etc to simply send them a bill each with copies of flight, hotel receipts etc? I'd have thought that was rather an obvious first move rather than flying half way around the world to stamp their feet in a fit of pique isn't it? I'd imagine that the invoice would simply have to be sent to BRFC or Venkeys London. If no action is taken and there are reliable witnesses to the Venkey offer then legal action to recover the full amount plus recovery costs plus interest costs virtually nothing.

The only way to really make an impression on the owners is by going to Pune. They don't care about the protests at Ewood.

Nonsense.

Bad idea. I'd taken you for better than that. It would achieve little to nothing imo. If 700 are not taken note of marching around the ground then half a dozen wouldn't raise an eyebrow even if you got an audience and thats hardly likely given the quality of their bodyguards.

One idea I had is for everyone in the seats next to the dug out to wear a t-shirt with "Kean Out" right at the begining of the match just before kick off - the reason for this is that the photographers all gather at the begining of the game in front of the dugout to take photos of the managers and images of Coco with hundreds of people wearing "Keane Out" T-shirts behind him plastered all over the media would send a clear message.

If everyone 'hid' the t-shirts under a coat / jumper etc before hand and then removed them at the same time (perhaps on a signal from one person) then it would get attention and the stewards wouldnt have time to act.

Just my two penneth and I know that it probably couldnt happen as you would need the support of everyone in those seats for it to work properly.

I don't know if it has been mentioned or if it is common knowledge, but the W@nky's people will be at Ewood on Wed 7th December pretty much all day. Could be worth organising a welcoming committee...

Do you know if theyre coming into Blackpool airport after Heathrow?

How about printing out A LOT of Kean out-A4 pieces of paper and handing them out at the entrance of big games, Man united, Liverpool.

I mean, why not? Other fans would think its very amusing and if enough people were waving them inside the ground, the cameras would spot it.

Or "We Love Steve Kean" ones at Burnley. It looks like they're taking the pish when they'd in fact be highlighting our issue. They'd just be too dumb to realise it! :D

I wouldn't be able to go, but would be willing to donate to a fund to pay towards someone else going.

+1

Though I could go, I think it would only take a few ..

Hand delivering a petition to them with all the stats and concerns which most share would be great.. Including local parliment, sponsors, local business and most importantly the fans...

Hopefully it does not come to this.. But has to be done very soon!!!

Come the revolution the odious John Newsham needs to suffer the same fate of a lot of appeasers and collaborators in history..... a damned good tarring and feathering! Just the sight of that bugger riles me.

btw... I heard he got offered the BRFC job simply because he led the Nuttall St residents opposition group when Ewood was being re developed and it was easier to buy his silence than p1sspaw about. Anyone confirm / deny this?
