If anyone backs up two pages on this thread and reviews all the opinions what becomes blatant, is that everyone agrees what we want to be done but not how to get it done. The protests are NOT working. There is nobody but an idiot that will disagree with that. For them to work we need three things 1) Unity amongst the fans. 2) Clear leadership for the protests and 3)Direct communication with the owners.Until these three are achieved we are not going to get anywhere. The owners of the club have a different way of thinking due to their culture ,customs, upbringing etc.and are not going to be told how to run the club ..regardless .This is not a racist statement it is a simple fact, they are used to the third world culture where, they being wealthy business people with servants and mansions are not used to being questioned and dictated to by the (so called )riff raff. Its because of this they simply have withdrawn and dug their heels in.I even would go as far as saying if they have or are paying someone to monitor these forums a lot of info still won`t get to them because, you know what happens to the messenger. The thing about the protests at the moment is that they are doing damage here and not where they are intended at.(the owners)This club is being ripped apart and its not bothering them one iota .They are in their mansions thousands of miles away thinking WTF.

I can see some of your argument, but the thing I don't get is this: do you honestly believe that if there had been no organised protest that there would have been any less unrest at the Bolton game? Glen's protests certainly gave an outlet for the anger, but he didn't create that anger. It's notable that when he removed the outlet, we saw the worst abuse of Steve Kean, as well as the press reaction you find so negative.

The fact that they were wearing yellow T-shirts doesn't make much difference. It's not surprising that some of the most angry people were people who had supported the protest, but that doesn't mean it's logical to suggest that the protest created those people or their anger.

Without the organised protests, you'd probably simply have seen more extended crowd unrest sooner, instead of what Glen achieved for several months which was to protest outside the ground and support the team inside.

Can I first of all point out it isn't entirely my arguement, I am simply pointing out to 47er that if you look at it objectively and open your eyes a little, you can see why some people don't support Glen...whereas people like him don't listen, presume things, or seem to think that anyone who doesn't agree are either Dingles, Venky PR or Steve Kean lovers.

My personal point of view on the organisation element is and always was that the timings weren't very well thought out. I also choose not to buy a yellow T-Shirt or make a banner because it's not what I want to do, but I personally feel that there is some weight to some of the accusations thrown in the early days, mixed amongst an even amount of nonsense. But, I think that to dress the same and stand side by side with others fixes you under a certain type of umbrella where your thoughts and actions are then inferred or dictated by a spokesperson, which I don't agree with because you will become innocent or guilty by association.

What you have to then think of is (if you are part of an organisation) how you will be viewed from the outside looking in - and whilst the T-Shirts, scarves and banners are a show of solidarity from supporters, it is obvious from what you have told me that they have fitted the plot that the media have chosen to play out. The way in which Sky Sports presented it (in the days afterwards) was as if it was organised (which made me think it was) - they cut to yellow T-Shirts, banners etc and then to supporters outside of the training ground. I never actually saw the game live - only SSN segments.

In terms of the Bolton match, I personally don't think that the organisation element of the protests actually controls the way that supporters behave in an extreme situation to be honest. I think that particular reaction would have happened regardless due to the shocking results, who we were playing that day and the early goals. It could even have heightened because there wasn't the mass banners etc and supporters missed their outlet! But basically, it was the straw that broke the camels back for the "give it another game" supporters.

Why can't you understand that the alternative is to give in and be seen to give in. Then Kean and the Venkys have won and are seen to have won. That can not be allowed to happen.

Unfortunately, Venkys won the moment they bought the club and when the trust sold up for a pittance, they shafted each and every one of us. Although we like to pretend it is "our club" it blatantly isn't and we are living the nightmare of that right now. We are in a situation where we are recognising that no matter how much noise we make, decisions aren't made, people aren't listening and it looks like the inevitable might happen.

So if it makes it easier for you and you feel it is all you can do, keep making a racket. If it is what you believe in, chase Kean up and down the touchline hurling abuse. If you feel you can't stand it anymore, walk away. But, the answer that we need is radical change...nothing more, nothing less. That is quite obviously only going to be brought about by a sudden change of heart, death, or new ownership.

The Venkys have not won. They dare not even come to the club they purport to own. No we do not own the club but in any real sense neither do they. They have invested a great deal of money and hopefully eventually they will realise that the only way to rescue anything from this unfortunate venture is to sell up for whatever they can get.

I hope you are correct Al. I don't see them making the changes or pumping in the money we need to get things right. My dream scenario is we scrape up this season, Venkys sell up, someone with enough money and realistic dreams buys us and employs Mark Hughes and we all get back the Rovers we loved.

The owners have lost interest and don't care.

The manager resides over the most appalling record for years.

It's so bad that we expect to lose against every team we play.

As much as I agree the owners are ultimately at fault, Kean has been a very willing accomplice.

Protesting against Kean/venkys during a game may achieve nothing, the players may not like it and neither may the media.

Sitting back doing nothing certainly won't achieve anything either.

We are as good as relegated and that is in the main, down to Kean. Why the hell should he get an easy ride during games?

Fulham, should be another Bolton as far as kean is concerned.

A reliable source told me (on the night) that Mark Hughes met with representatives of Venky's at the Dunkenhalgh in Rishton on Tuesday 20th December, whilst Rovers were losing to Bolton at Ewood, and was unable to agree terms. No idea where the difference lay, but I suspect they wouldn't pay the piper so he wouldn't play their tune.

At last you have said something that I agree with.

Right Mr Hughes, that's your wage demands met, backroom team agreed, bonus package and transfer budget sorted.

Now if I could just introduce you to Jerome An....

Mr. Hughes? Mr. Hughes?

"This stuff" is an opinion that differs from yours, 47er. I've also explained my vote at this time on another thread...sometimes some people put more thought into decisions than others. I wouldn't call it contradictory in the slightest because although I want Kean out, I don't see anyone who would take over. Which is a rather bizarre situation, don't you think?

As for "your stuff" do you ever intend to back up your opinions or just feel you'll continue to post sweeping smarm or simply hang off the balls of the more vocal?

Simple question Pedro-------if you find it "strange' that Kean seems more firmly in situ than ever--------why would you vote to give him more time?

I might become a Barcelona fan. I visited their ground once. I will go on their forums and act like I know what I'm on about. I bet the other fans will really like me eh?

Ha. I love the fact that both you and 47er would mark up my posts and support them back when I agreed with you, but now that I don't I'm enemy of the state.

Whatever. I will not bother anymore. It is taking too much effort on my part.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have read but don't know when or where that Venkys are due to open their first London Xprs.

Do we have information on this and if so I would feel it is an obvious target for a protest? I would try to attend if somefhing was organised.

I love the way you removed the part of my quote that said you had only ever been to one game in your life.

Too much effort? Certainly not with your brain, do you type these posts with your toes or something?

The fact is you are talking about something (atmosphere at Ewood) that you know nothing about. Give it a rest will you.

I'm planning on eating KFC outside the store. Explaining to people that the original is often the best.

Makes us sound like a team doesn't he? Paranoia setting in I suppose.

Apparently we "marked him up" when he wrote things we agreed with but not when he changed totally for some reason he could never explain. Odd that!

I saw that somewhere too. That is probably the worst thing they could do at the minute.

I have to say the chicken is actually quite tasty and there's possibly a market for it if they aim for the healthier market, no chance it would take off up here though at present for obvious reasons.
