damn, I thought my many emails to Indian newspapers was the reason!

If there had been no protests and just grumbles at poor league form a lot of the info would not have been in the public domain like it is now. How much info that arose from investigation by fans or journalists, the leaked letter and the various newspaper reports did you include?

With regards to the protest plans for the match against Newcastle United, it is imperative that we look at all the pro's and con's before making a judgement on which protest is in the best interests of the group.

Following a detailed look at both options and completing a risk-assessment for both, together with taking in the opinions of those whom protest together with those who don't, we believe that it is in the best interest of the protest movement to continue with the plans as they are.

As Mark has pointed out, we have been in heavy discussion for a few days regarding the next course of action, We have to always gauge the Pro's and Cons. The thought protest always includes

1. Not having a protest and the effect it has by not doing so.

2. Protesting on non match days,

3. Protest before games

4. Protest during games

5. Protest after games.

6. The message and how it could be spun by the media

7. Health and safety

8. The effect on non protesting supporters

9. Numbers

10.Logistics

11.Reasons for protesting

12.Liability

13.The amount of time in organising the protest

14. Public opinion from those who take part

15.Opinion of those who wish to de-rail the supporters efforts.

16. We also plan for all eventualities and carry out a risk assessment

Taking all this on board, especially with a transfer deadline protest taking place, we have decided a 15 minute boycott is not in the best interest of the group or team.

In addition a static protest carries far too many risk for a match day protest and is open to far too much critism despite the impecable conduct record of the people who take part.

We have decided to go for a March from the Brown Cow , meeting time at 18.30 pm with the march expected to leave between 1900-19-15 dependent on the restrictions imposed by the Police. The march will be stwewarded as always and the message will be VENKYS OUT,

If anyone has any questions feel free to PM, Telephone or tweet me, Mark or Simon, as we are always available to answer these

Just about anything and everything that has been in the news and MB, also some stuff that has not been made public. I sent emails to 5 main newspapers in England the week before Harris got lively, with some stuff that I thought they should be looking at.

I will continue to hasle the press in India.

I am not claiming any credit here as I think it is a lot of people putting pressure on different areas that is now getting results, hats of to the guys that got the article printed in India though,

Awesome

I suspect it was the herculean efforts of 2 professional journalists in Kamy and Sportingintelligence to keep knocking on the door of the the Economic Times with a basically ready-to-print, multi-facted story covering everything from finance, (mis)management, plummeting league position, broken promises, leaked letter from ex-board and yes, fan dissatisfaction. I think that is more likely than the leading financial newspaper in a country thousands of miles away monitoring protests in a small, Northern English town and then taking the initiative to investigate.

Churlish. You need to give glen mullen some respect for having the balls to do something which attracted the media in the first place. He built the stage and provided the spotlight for the likes of Kamy, Harris, Wild etc etc to profit from.

He can't. We have a 14 year old at home who behaves with more respect.

He can only have got that from his mother.

If you were there then shame on you for not swelling their number. If people like you were less timid then a cross section of the Ewood support would be represented and the chavs would be outnumbered wouldn't they? Sod wringing your cap and giving ingratiating smiles to your betters in Pune ..... just think luddite!

Previous quotation from Edmund Burke again applies to you I suggest.

Pontificating, poorly selected insults (Luddites were protesters after all) and historical quotations, it really has upset you. Was it the balding jibe? I admitted I was wrong, take notes - its something you lack the abilty to do.

I have the upmost respect for the protest organisers and the fantastic job they have done and personal sacrifices they have made. However the protests have been equally good and bad for the Blackburn Rovers in my eyes. They have undoubtedly gotten results but at a terrible cost to all our repuations as fans (not thier fault incidently).

There are other effective channels and ways to make a difference as I'm sure you are aware. I choose to support these methods not through timidity, lack of thought or will but becuase experience tells me they will be far more effective.

I'm glad you got out of the house, camped outside Ewood and had a few beers with handful of other people on the 24 hour protest - it will have done you good. You did go didn't you? It is such a shame you have gone back to angry mashing of the keyboard in the darkened room though.

I'll tell you what as EwoodDawn hasn't chosen to take me up on my wager, if we go the whole of deadline day without someone making themselves look stupid on camera at Ewood Park I'll donate 50 euros to the site. Do want to cover the other side of the bet?

GREAT NEWS regarding the forthcoming protest march against Newcastle United. The police have placed NO restrictions on this march. We must now ensure that our conduct on this protest is as immaculate as it always has been previously.

The march will leave the Brown Cow at 19.15hrs and we ask people to arrive at the venue in good time.

On a different tack, has anyone considered buying a few Venkys company shares and using a shareholders AGM (if Venkys have such) as a means of taking the protest and grievances to them? A local India-based proxy, ideally a Roverite, could represent wider Rovers fans if appropriate. Not sure of the share price or how feasible this is or whether it has already been considered/dismissed but might be a possibility...

This is a really interesting idea but do we know if the rules and regs re. shareholders and AGMs are similar in India and GB? That would need to be confirmed indubitably before fans started shelling out their hard earned cash.

First post on this Messageboard, but have any of the organisers considered this approach taken from a Swedish game last year.

Basically, Blackburn fans have been treated disgustingly by both the current ownership and management. Its almost like these parties don't see any need for the fans. I say, lets show the owners the power of the fans in a positive way. No booing, no jeering, no banners, no boycott. Complete and utter silence for the first 10 minutes of the game. As soon as the 10 minutes is up, show the team, the management, the owners and the footballing world what the Rovers fans are made of....

Being a Wednesday night it should be a superb atmosphere down at Ewood!

No chance of total silence as not everyone is behind the protest, for that to work everyone in the ground needs to be behind it really.

Same with a mass boycott in a way

Doesn't necessarily have to do with the protest, it has everything to do with the total disregard that the owners hold for any if not all the fans of Blackburn Rovers. It would make a powerful statement if it was possible.

I agree that not everyone would participate which would be a shame, as it would be a spectacle to behold!

i like it. 10 mins would be a bit much tho, and it would be very difficult to get everybody to participate. one minute, however, would be very do-able and it a very symbolic... a minutes silence to mourn the rovers of old and the lack of communication from venky's.

it would need to be marketed well but i see no reason why this could not and should not happen. the media would be all over it and it would do the image of the fans no harm. maybe we could combine this idea with distribution of the poster?

glen and co?

Excellent thought. Maybe ask Philipl for input on the feasibility of this one..
