Vierinha looking good but difficult to judge in a league of that standard. Would have liked him here. Witsel is the one on that list I most regret missing out on, think he would have made a huge difference this year. Cisse doing well, also
AJW Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Nice review , tbh honest the 3 players that excited me the most over the summer window was cisse , veirinha and witsel whether they were genuine transfer targets or pie in the sky we'll never know - looks like we dodge a bullet with piatti tho
Amo Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Should have been all over the Witsel deal. Venky's can't do anything right.

Witsel has been playing brilliantly and is at a higher standard to anything that we currently have. Cisse is banging the goals in in germany but his team are second last in the table i think. Vierinha, i watched him play a coup,e of games this season and he looks a class apart from everything else and would walk in to our team. Anyukov, was never going to leave zenit for us, he is skipper there and en route to a league title and last 16 in europe Piata must be something right he is playing in a team in 3rd spot of La Liga ffs!! basically any of them players on that list would improve out team. ie bad transfer from us last summer
LeChuck Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 If Spurs give us £9 million for Hoilett then I hope we go back for Vierinha, it sounds like he could bring goals and creativity from the very position Hoilett occupies right now.

davulsukur Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Good post. Witsel i think is the one i think most of us would have wanted. Cisse certainly seems to have continued his good form. Honda was a dream signing, would have never come off.
Mafioso Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Almost like we didn't know what we were doing... When you see names like Beattie, Diouf and Nacho Novo on the same list of targets as Raul, Joe Cole, Gignac, Cisse and Witsel, I think its pretty certain we didnt know what we were doing!
joey_big_nose Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 If Spurs give us £9 million for Hoilett then I hope we go back for Vierinha, it sounds like he could bring goals and creativity from the very position Hoilett occupies right now. I second this. We should go back in once he goes. Although I suppose the other side of the coin is we have Vukcevic who hasn't got a proper game yet. I imagine he will walk straight into the Hoilett role. He is a decent player. Witsel and Ba were clearly the two singings who could have transformed our side. However you do have to wonder if Witsel would really have fancied us compared to an established CL side.
Brfcrule1 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I think the players that would have transformed our side from that list Veirinha,Witsel,Jermaine Jones,Defoe,Raul & Cisse I would also not mind Ibisevic providing he is over his injury the one I am particularly mad about is Cisse his record in Germany is phenomenal and his goals alone would ensure we would be nowhere near where we are I only wish Venkys would have paid the 8M for him as it would surely have paid off.
Drover Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Gutted looking at this list, most of all because Witsel is on it. Would have been an incredible signing. Not that we'll ever know but the people itk on here seemed to think the deal was there to be done for him, Venkys just made a hash of it. I agree with the above that Vierinha would still be a great signing however I think it should only be if Hoillet leaves in Jan as an attacking midfielder isn't what we need right now, way too many of those floating around

Didn't they want 12 million? Gutted, as I was at the time, to miss out on Witsel.
malk Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 One little point on the Cisse/Ibisevic front... Yakubu Aiyegbeni - Blackburn Rovers - 9 (league) games 0 goals 0 assists. Witsel would have been great and Jones would have been bloody good as well. Vierinha I haven't seen but the numbers look nice. Hindsight is 20-20 though.
bluebruce Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Umm, I think you want to double check those stats.
