i Do blame venkys and kean, had venys had the balls to appoint a proper manager AND spent some proper money then who knows? we could have been fighting up there with the likes of newcastle and maybe just maybe the lad might have thought its worth sticking around for a couple more years, i mean if hes playing regularly for a winning team, why go anywhere else? its venkys lack of forsight and ineptitude to do what was necessary in the summer thats caused this, proper money spent and a manager who could have improved hoillet may have convinced him to see out another year or two more, hoillet has to do most of the match winning because the alot of the other players are just so mediocre and now his head has been turned by the the thought of being in the same team with the likes of bale and van der vaat.

£9m no thanks

Keep him - he's the one player in the squad who can really change a game. Keep him and we have an outside chance of staying up. If he goes in the summer we'll get at least half that figure anyway (unless he goes to Germany), and theres now evidence that he's valued higher than that by other clubs. The risk isnt that great.

SOLD!!!

He has no interest in signing and who can blame him when you Kean running the team. Take the cash and spend it on a striker who will get goals.

Even if most of the money is spent on a loan fee its worth doing. Yak playing well at the moment is the only striker we have who knows where the goal is.

Goodwillie and Noberts are not EPL standard.

B0LLOX!

Sign a new contract with a release clause for relegation if thats the case, simple.

GREED - 100%. He only just signed a new deal last time, and hadnt made his breakthrough then.

I know it's hard for you, Hughesy, but stop being stupid. Nothing to do with greed here, we pay as much if not more than Spurs do. Hoilett clearly see's his professional interests best served by getting out of the disgraceful situation his club finds itself in thanks to Kean and Venky's.

If the Qatari's had taken over or we had had a decent manager for the last 12 months then he would have re-signed. You also overlook that Kean had the chance to renew his contract in January but decided to spend his time renewing the likes of Roberts etc.

I do NOT buy the 'its the manager', 'its a shambles' - he was hard work enough getting him to sign last time, the lad clearly believes his own hype.

Why back him up? He's got big headed ala Bentley and now wants to go sit on a top clubs bench. 9 years of investment in him, GREED!

I was thinking some more about this. Let me give you a thought; you're the top salesman in a highly successful, family business which competes strongly in its marketplace. However two years if recession have begun to bite deeply, the company has always been more expensive than its lager national and multi-national competitors but gained business through excellent customer service.

With majors competitors offering massive discounts to compete your business makes redundant all customer facing staff and slashes prices to compete. Service levels plummet, orders do the same. It becomes clear the company is going under within months.

Out of the blue the MD of your fiercest rival, one of the top six in the country, telephones to offer you a three-year deal, 25% salary increase and your choice of a top of the range BMW or Mercedes.

Desperate to keep you your company offers to match this but you know it is unsustainable.

What would you do? Me? I'd be off in the blink of an eye.

Fiercest rival? So Burnley? Nope cant see it.

We are also offering much more in wages than Tottenham will. Just like they did with Bentley. Anyway forget the topic, iv resigned to him leaving, the fans have given up, the club is fooked and we are going down so whats the point! <_<

So if we're offering more in wages than Tottenham will, then your original claim of 'greed' doesn't stack up then?

I know he is a player who possibly has ideas above his station, as demonstrated by the last time we tried to get him to sign a contract. But then we were still probably his best option for future prospects. Now we're clearly not.

He's not signing for us because we're a shambles who before long will be in the Championship.

Hoilett will spend more time on the bench at Spurs than playing. Players always think the grass is greener elsewhere and like Bentley and Duff before him, and examples at other clubs such as Wright-Phillips and Adam Johnson his career will suffer and he will not develop into the player he should be. Our present troubles notwithstanding, having sunk from England squad member and the likely replacement for David Beckham to Spurs reserve and loanee, I'll wager Bentley regrets the day he walked out of Ewood Park.

Unfortunately, IMO, the truth is beginning to dawn on too many of our fans too late and I think that you are one of them.

Alarm bells were ringing loud and clearly six months ago but many couldn't or wouldn't believe it.

I dont like living in Misery, but see the world from an optimistic view. It might cloud my realism sometimes, but I normally have a very good life and are full of energy.

I'm not sure about that. Spurs are going to be regulars in Europe if they can hold the squad together - probably Champions League next season - and he'll be understudy to both Lennon and Bale.

He'd figure a hell of a lot, it's a squad game nowadays. Spurs' main failure last year was that they didn't build a squad that could cope with the Premier League and the Champions League.

According to Steve Kean, Hoilett is 'desperate' to sign his new deal.

Did Kean mention which club this was for? If it is us can someone find him a ruddy pen? Who has tidied up at Ewood? Just go and buy a new one from the newsagents over the road.

juliette_gracejuliette ferrington :Steve Kean delighted to have signed his contract and says Hoilett has told him that he's desperate to sign a new deal. #Rovers

juliette_gracejuliette ferrington :Hoilett's #Rovers future in the hands of the directors and his representatives.

IMO, this means he's off as he wont sign for Kean; if Hoilett's desperate to sign he would simply tell his representatives (dad) to get it done, as for the Rovers' directors, we understand that they are out of the loop with the owners and Kean making the key decisions. In other words, IMO, as per usual, don't blame me (Kean) when Hoilett's gone !
