Just because all money isn't up front, doesn't mean you can beat them on that. Or else you would beat every transfer-paying club in the world. It doesn't make them bad owners.

Every other facet of ownership, they've gotten wrong. But I think it's harsh to judge them on transfer fees.

Mike, they [the Raos], promised [if I remember right] to put in 5 mill per transfer window of their own money. They were the terms that they bought the club on.That's what I'm debating. Have you any proof that they have done that?

5m/window = 10m/season. This season we've already spent 11m on 2 strikers and that's with lessened funds thanks to relegation (admittedly venkys' doing).

I think transfer fees are the ONE stick we cannot beat Venkys with, tbh.

Do the math and you'll see that you're wrong. People forget we sold the likes of Kalinic, Samba and Phil Jones for big money...

I was always under the impression it was a case of spending 5m/window regardless of other deals and any extra money from sales would plug the debt. I assumed they'd only put money in when there was none made from sales. Like cutting our cloth according to our situation.

Transfer fees don't bug me I'm afraid, but the remaining debt does. This is where they've fallen short. In summer we also have to assume that the wages of many players ate into the transfer fees we could pay :/

I can't find the direct quote but I'm sure it was in these forums when as part of the takeover. £5m per window of their own money, and I believe profit from sales would be reinvested in the transfer market. People have done the math before, and it doesn't add up - they're not spending money on players despite what some people believe.

Yes, they are - just not enough of it, or not the 5 million that they promised.

Maybe it's more of a "yeah, we'll set aside 5 million for each window to spend, but whether we do actually spend all of that is another question entirely." Or maybe the 5 million includes wages. I don't know. Like you said, it probably doesn't add up.

That's a fair point. Just because we CAN spend that money, doesn't mean we should. Or else you're getting quantity over quality (as we seem to have done anyway to an extent)

Net spending.................................

Are you suggesting we shouldn't have strengthened the squad significantly while we were in the Premier League, darrenermike? We have been replacing proven Premier League players with dross for a number of windows now.

I've been referring to the summer just gone when the signings of murphy, etuhu, gomes, best and rhodes were all very convincing in terms of PL ambition.

Ofc we should have strengthened while in the PL but Kean would relegate Barcelona, given the chance.

I believe it is almost impossible to manage this club while Venky's are in charge. While I of course don't rate Kean, the main mistake was giving him (and Berg for that matter) the job to begin with. Kean didn't make that choice, someone else did.

Been adding up the numbers from http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/blackburn-rovers/transfers/verein_164_2012_default_default_alle_a.html and if the numbers there are correct net spend since Venky's took over is:

+ 9 099 200 GBP

I'm not saying it hasn't, but it's a far way from their pledge to this. And the fact that they didn't spend money on players when it was obvious our PL future was in jeopardy after nearly getting relegated the season before.

What they have done to our club should be a criminal offense.

if you look at the 11/12 season transfers on that site , players in 17,204 million - players out 35,415 million = +18.2 million
