Sparky Marky Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I remember him having a good game for his country against England.

Backroom DE. Posted November 27, 2011 Backroom Posted November 27, 2011 He started playing.... then suddenly vanished from the team. Lucky if he gets on the bench now. Surely he can't be any more anonymous than Formica? His set piece deliveries can't be any worse than MGP? I was very interested to see what Simon could bring to the team... but it seems he isn't going to be given the chance to show anybody.
Puffsan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 a norwegian internatinal scout wrote this on twitter when we bought him (i will translate to english) "simon vuckevic - what's happening in blackburn?! predicted the club to be relegated before the start ove the season, even more certain now." later he replied to one who questioned about vuckevic: "great talent that has lost direction in his career. left leg is still intact, but have seen refrigerators that are more mobile" so i guess he was right and steve kean has realized it? but in my opinion i can't honestly think that he is less mobile than petrovic. i think a guy like vuckevic would be good for the team right now. He seems like an agressive guy, who could bring some fighting spirit to the team. I say bench hoilett for a game or two and but vuckevic on. Hoilett have been lazy and uninterested lately.
joey_big_nose Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Part of it is we have too many players who fit in his position - Rochina, Formica, Hoilett. All of those have been playing decently so it is hard for him to get in the team. However with Formica fading and Hoilett off we should get to see him soon enough. We really should have used the money outlayed to buy him on a proper central midfielder.
Puffsan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 The problem with hoilett and formica is that they are no contributing enough defensivly, and a club like rovers cant really afford to have players like that, at least not on the wings. im kind of suprised that formica have been playing as much as he have. of the players we have signed he was the one i had the highest expectations to, but hes been quite anonymous imo. in the future i can see formica as a offensive centre midfielder, but we need a better defensive midfielde to clear things away. Sadly i don't think Nzonzi will become that warrior we need in that position, and petrovic looks even worse. if hoilett can improve his defensive skills i think a future midfield could be interesting with vuckevic on left side, defensive midfielder + rochina offensive and hoilett on the right side, and playing formica behind the striker. in a 4-4-1-1 position. Hoilett could have course play in formicas position, but then we don't have anyone to play right winger. Imo we need rochina central.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I remember him having a good game for his country against England. It doesn't surprise me that a player who performs for his country doesn't get games for Rovers under Kean. Remember this is the same manager who kept dropping Kalinic after he was scoring goals for his country and performing well.
Kelbo Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Majiball once told me Wenger looked far more closely at mentality and attitude than ability, I know for a fact Dalglish looks at each player and knows virtually what they eat and drink, their habits and mental attitude, thats why players such as Sherwood and Le Saux were not at the top of their game at clubs prior to joining Rovers. I will make a satement which may come back to haunt me now, young Adam Henley reminds me so much of Phil Jones, Grant Hanley was looked upon as the better of the two but Jones pushed on, Jackson Ramm, who I rated quite highly when I saw him, was way ahead of Adam, Henley looks in my opinion as though he will make a top player!!

Hope so as we need a right back. Lowe could then go into midfield where we need him.

Rochina needs to play 'in the hole' to make the most of his abilities and accommodate his lack of defensive nous. For all his natural talent, he's quite wasteful with possession, which puts us on the backfoot, especially with our problems at full-back. I'd have Hoilett & Vukcevic out-wide and two destroyers tidying up in midfield.
bazza Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Hope so as we need a right back. Lowe could then go into midfield where we need him. I don't know where to say this so here it is. The most important positions that need strengthening are both full backs. Our defence (back four) are shipping goals like a holed hull and if we don't do something pronto, we are relegated. We need two good full backs. A left back would free up Olsson to play attacking midfield; his best position. Givet is a woeful full back but a brilliant centre back. A new right back would free up Lowe for his normal midfield position. Too many players are being played out of position.
joey_big_nose Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 So I have to say I am totally bemused as to why he did not play tonight? Anyone got any ideas? He hasn't got a game, even as sub, in a month and is a quality player. Certainly a cut above Goodwillie or Blackman...

Josh Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I read that someone said Kean saw Vukcevic smilling after a loss, which is why he hasn't really played. I think I read that on here but I'm not sure if it's true or not

He isn't even named on the bench as far as Im aware.
RoyRover Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 No sign of him again tonight. It would have been good to see him play instead of Pedersen or Blackman.

He hasn't got a game, even as sub, in a month and is a quality player. Certainly a cut above Goodwillie or Blackman... My theory, which has no evidence and is pure speculation on my part, is that Kean won't play players who don't kiss his posterior. He has petty tyrant syndrome, which means he mistakes his bullying for being "hard".

I think I read that on here but I'm not sure if it's true or not Considering Kean grins like a chimpanzee in post-match interviews and press conferences after we lose I'd be shocked if that was the case. Loves a bit of the old positivity does our Keano.
Majiball Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Perhaps he's not playing as he isn't with SEM?????? Good enough to tackle an england international full back, but not good enough to tackle a championship level one.
Blue n White Rover Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Perhaps he's not playing as he isn't with SEM?????? Good enough to tackle an england international full back, but not good enough to tackle a championship level one. More worryingly, Nick Blackman played ahead of him and we all know how sh** he is!
Eddie Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Very strange that he didn't play last night. He has done well when he's played for us and has also looked good in internationals this year. I simply can't understand why he hasn't been more involved.
BuckyRover Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I'm wondering how he got a broken nose...
beerwins Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I'm wondering how he got a broken nose... He probabaly walked into the kitchen work top
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I'm wondering how he got a broken nose... That's another thing , the information from the club these days is non-existant.
