47er Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I agree. We did invite unneccesary pressure, but the way the penalty came about and the deflaction - we were very unfortunate. We played the weakest Everton side I've ever seen at Ewood and lost! We would have gobbled them up in previous seasons. That alone wold have us out of the bottom three.

Backroom DE. Posted December 6, 2011 Backroom Posted December 6, 2011 alex, you've changed your tune about kean, hope u haven't fallen for his bullshit It's 'win-a-game' syndrome, most of the media have it as well. A team wins a game and suddenly the big picture becomes invisible, as if it never existed.
47er Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 The Everton game was an odd one though with 2 missed penalties Penalty taker subbed, team didn't know who should take them. Is that bad luck? Do they practice pens at all in training? Do they know who's a good pen taker and who isn't? Shouldn't have had to rely on penalties anyway but strikers that day (no Yak) couldn't hit a barn door. Poor transfer window. Norwich game was odd too and the Fulham game but we didn't win either. I'll repeat this till I drop "under this manager we are not set up to win".
alexanders Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Havent fallen for anything. Only more positive about the situation after 3 crucial points Against Swansea and watching how weak other teams around us are.
thenodrog Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Yet another ban means this is my first comment on the Swansea match so the only thing I can add is that although I cant speak for Yakubu if I'd been taken off when I'd scored 4 goals with 6 mins to go and against 10 men then I'd have been absolutely blazing! Games like that when you are on the end of everything come every Preston Guild for strikers and chances to score 5 or 6 and be in the record books forever are few and far between. I may not be being very professional but I do remember playing up front.

You are normally the voice of reason so not sure what happened there....

scotty_beam_me_up Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Agree fully And miss out on the standing ovation?? Only one thing strikers like more than goals is the adulation that comes when you get them. Can't really blame Kean for that one.
Stuart Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 And miss out on the standing ovation?? Only one thing strikers like more than goals is the adulation that comes when you get them. Can't really blame Kean for that one. But he wasn't happy with the fans. Sounds a bit hypocritical. To be fair, I thought the same as Theno at the time. He should have subbed him deep in injury time not with 8 minutes to go. Especially when the guy coming on is Roberts.
broadsword Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Yeah, I can imagine how angry Yakubu would've been if he'd been kept on for the whole game.
