colin Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I've used ethical investors In the past and founfd them to be really useful.# Obviously there is a slant on what they do, but at least they won't be recommending you to a mortgage provider that is going to pay them lots of money. Plus, if you ask, they will only talk to a mutual buliding society where profits are re-invested back to the business rather than to give dividends to the shareholders. I ended up with a mortgage with The Coventry Building Society. It's non-profit making, so no greedy shareholders demanding an annual return (which I, and potentially you, have to pay for)
Paul Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Long, long time since I needed a mortgage broker however about a year back we did consider moving. We met two people;, one who worked for Entwistle Green and was utterly hopeless and seemed mainly interested in selling the benefits of EG. The other was an independent guy, forgotten name now, who had a very good attitude.
Jackson Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I'd find your own, pal. There's many a vested interest with a broker and you may not get the best deal. Waste of money, imo. You'll find a list of "best" fixed/variable current deals in many a Saturday or Sunday broadsheet - they do the hard work for you. The broker probably won't be able to beat them. Money for old rope, that broker lark.
Aberdeen Blue Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Have used John Charcol in the past and found them very easy and professional to deal with.
Ozz Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I have dealt with Matt Loughlin at Suitable Finance in Chorley. Matt really knows his stuff and gave me some very good general advice as well as saving me a lot of money. You can use my name if you speak to him.

My former next door neighbour has the butchers (Cromptons) next door, he does a nice sirloin to go with your mortgage quote. For investment advice we use Towry Law for a fixed fee ( from memory £600 + vat per year).
