Mattyblue Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Sunderland are a normal football club. Poor results, lost the fans. Out you go. Who the hell is going to remove a man who is pretty much running the club?
Drover Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Hopefully this serves as an example, probably won't though
jrabrfc Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 In comparison to Kean, Bruce has been a rip-roaring success!
Stuart Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Typical. They'll have a new manager just in time to face us. Matty, I'm still not convinced about conspiracies about Kean being some evil caricature. I just think he's a chancer taking advantage of disinterested owners and saying anything he can to put a positive spin on things and save his skin.
Jimmy612 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Nice little project for Hughes, what are the odds on his appointment? Also what are the odds on Kean to be offered the job

I wonder who will be in the running for the job? Hughes and O'Neill are the first two premier league standard managers that come to mind that are out of work although is O'Neill wanting a job or is he going down the pundit route? If we pretend that steve kean was sacked and you were a manager looking to choose between Sunderland and Blackburn who would people go for? Sunderland surely due to normal board + investment.
Mc Love Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Bruce win rate 28% compared to kean win rate 16/17% rate?? Would take Bruce
Andy Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I don't like Bruce but, when compared to Kean, he looks like Sir Alex. I'd take him in a shot if it meant getting rid of Kean.
ruggles1995 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I can see the venkys scratching there thick skulls now.. "why didnt they give him a payrise?"
Mc Love Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 On ssn they mentioned Carlo ancellotti as third favorite. I thought he wasn't allowed work for another club?
miqaayil Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Guys a club like sunderland can and will survive and get a good manager in ...... but for us ... we don't need a manager ... we need a bloody saviour who can work miracles ....
T4E Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I'd take Bruce here, as good a chance as any one that we could get of keeping us up.
Audax Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Sunderland went down for the 2nd time a few years ago so they needed to be real careful, the fans were vocal. S. Bruce had some good moments, it's too bad, managers lose their potency for the most part but he'll be back somewhere.

Sunderland have finished above Blackburn only once in PL history. And that was under Kean's watch. We are/were a much better side than them. Sadly between Venkys and Short, it'd be Short every day of the week. Strange how Sunderland have fallen since Quinn left.
Audax Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 They should not have allowed Darren Bent to leave... that seems to be a big part of their problems. I don't know whose fault that was.
Baz Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 They should not have allowed Darren Bent to leave... that seems to be a big part of their problems. I don't know whose fault that was. Its always been Bruces problem as a manager. Player kicks up a fuss and gets to leave no matter how vital they are. Savage, Gyan, Bent and many others have engineered moves away from his teams despite being top dog at the time. Gyan for example has gone on loan, so they didnt even get funds to replace him! Bruce has said he wont play for team again, which devalues him next summer too. Most other managers would say no to them until they had an adequate replacement in place.
Amo Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Biggest managerial mercenary going. Spent big at Sunderland and achieved fugg all. Nice to know Sunderland have some ambition and self-respect.
percy Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Good to hear it, surprised he hasn't done his usual and walked out! Shows how the board should act if the manager loses the players and fans. Shame we don't have one worthy of the name.
Mattyblue Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Spent a shedload (and made plenty himself) of various owners dosh for well over a decade and achieved bugger all.
ada2020 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I'm sure Sam will dedicate West Hams next win to his buddy.
Baz Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 danwalkerbbc Dan Walker Sunderland may benefit from being first to enter the 'sack race'. Might have the pick of the available managers. Got to agree with this...
RoyRover Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 There you are Venky's, it's not hard. If your manager consistently has bad results you fire him. Simple.
Backroom DE. Posted November 30, 2011 Backroom Posted November 30, 2011 I like Bruce as a person, seems like a decent sort. Not sure if he's a very effective manager though. He has form going back to when he managed Huddersfield of having teams which randomly lose form and spending a lot of money with little success. Not sure he's what we need here.
