[Archived] The signing of Ribeiro

It is this sort of issue that the national media are totally unaware of. I've heard of clubs signing players from the same club or national side to keep another, bigger, better player company. But signings such as Ribeiro and Anderson just stink. Absolutely stink to high heaven. For the life of me i cannot understand this. More so Kean descibing him as a new Dennis Irwin. If, as i suspect, this transfer was thrust upon him, i don't get why any 'manager' in his first job would make such ridiculous statements. Dennis Irwin was easily the most consistant of fullbacks (along with possibly Berg) of his generation. This chancer can be little more than a Brazilian version of Manuel from Fawlty Towers.

5 FIRST TEAM defenders out injured... its basically now or never.

It'll probably be a never then.

Ribeiro and Myles. Irwin and Smalling according to Kean. Talk about setting yourself up for a fall. The margins between success and failure in the Premier League are tiny. So Kean indulging himself in the signings of these two really does need explaining. What could it possibly be for? As posted today by Mr Maureen and previously, January is the next pay day for certain people. Just a shame that Kean is so inept. Make no mistake, IMO, the more transfer windows we go through the more debt we'll end up in and evidently we'll have a poorer quality squad.

Then you release Emerton, a guy who would have been invaluable this season, at right back or at right wing where he could have assisted the right back (be it Salgado or Lowe (lest we forget, Lowe is a central midfielder for England U21s)).

But no, we let Bert leave, we put square pegs in round holes. We're hopeless.

And still Kean survives. But no, Anderson is no longer on the scene apparently. But Pini Zaharvi is. Another "super" Agent. These chicken clowns just don't get it. Or maybe they do, but just don't care. Their silence is deafening. Asset stripping bull$hitters.

Unfortunately, I imagine both him and Anderson will be the first two of many...another reason why we are unlikely to get a respectful manager in to replace Kean. I didn't realise he had put them both in the 25 man squad though!! I'd be interested to know what we are paying them a week.

Is Myles getting the dosh we can't legally pay to his dad?

Just a question.

So many need answering about this, especially if you read Craig Browns comments.

Bare bones of a defence and these two wont make it anywhere near the team that should be a sacking in it's own right, yes we hear they were signed for the future as was Slew but what about NOW!!

The signings over the summer were made by a total amatuer and the only one that has been any use was Yakubu and he recommended by his agent, even Dann has'nt been the best and has took a long time to blend in and now he is out with a busted bollock.

Make no mistake, the players signed were not good enough to strengthen our team and even with a better manager we will still struggle, we must spend wisely in January but dont count on it happening.

I'm with you there zac, saw him at Morecambe and thought he was just one of those here today, gone tomorrow trialists that you see rock up from time to time in friendlies.

He was like Salgado without the nous, positional sense or aggression.

When he signed a 3 year deal, the jig was up, I knew the club was crooked (IMO, of course!).

both are back hand deals for jerome anderson to scrape even more money out of the club. neither are even at reserve standard... and both are pretty much highest payed players in reserves..... its a joke. but only once kean goes can these rediculas SEM deals stop going through.

  • 1 year later...

Didn't he perform well on his debut this season in a drab home match in which Edinho Junior played as the lone striker (can't remember the opposition)? I seem to recall people were saying he was actually quite good in that match, plus a couple of others as well?

Ribiero and Anderson both gone !

How much is that off the wage bill ?

Steve Keans new Irwin and Smalling . what a clown !

Think we were the clowns when you think about it.

All three made millions from BRFC without ever having that capability before.

They must be having a really good laugh at Blackburn and its supporters right now, all three of them plus a few more one would suspect.

So just who are the clowns again..
