Parsonblue Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 The way Salgado and the other players who have left have been treated by Venky's is shockingly bad, it lacks class and is disrespectful to players who given so much to the club. For me Kamy that sums up how Desai comes across - a woman with no class just a love of money. This is the reason why Desai will never be accepted and why the majority fear for the future of the club in her hands. Anyone who thinks that this ?, and I'll not use the word I want to use to describe her, will sell for a nominal amount is living in cloud cuckoo land. I suspect that this woman will want as much money as she can get from the club before she leaves. The treatment of Nelsen, Roberts, Salgado and Andrews has been nothing short of a disgrace. It's also the reason why no decent players or manager would touch this club with a bargepole whilst Venky's still own it.

It's also the reason why no decent players or manager would touch this club with a bargepole whilst Venky's still own it. And in my opinion these 4 were probably being paid close to £200,000 per week in wages between them and none of them are premier league players. Good bit of business getting shut of em. Feckin parasites.
Mattie456 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 He is not the player he once was but his EXPERIENCE is vital in a situation like this, lets fast forward to the last home game of the season (Wigan), Rovers need to win to stay up, it'll be a high pressure game, in those games people like Nelsen, Salgado and Roberts are vital, yes it is good to have good upcoming players but with that you need EXPERIENCE and KNOW HOW, you need players who have experienced tough situations in the past. Wolves away was a prime example, we won that game because our experienced players delivered in that high pressure situation. The way Salgado and the other players who have left have been treated by Venky's is shockingly bad, it lacks class and is disrespectful to players who given so much to the club. Agree with all of this. If this is how we treat players then no half decent player will ever want to sign for us.
John Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Ultimately, the way we are treating employees of the club spells trouble. As we keep hearing on a weekly basis, there may be a great togetherness, spirit etc, however that won’t last much longer – a lot of the good guys are gone.
Sparky Marky Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Good guys???? Employees that were very well paid for being average at best. Salgado is clearly not a premier league defender anymore but so long as he's a nice chap we should continue to pay him 3 million a year.......

Salgado is clearly not a premier league defender anymore but so long as he's a nice chap we should continue to pay him 3 million a year....... If you treat employees in the way Venky's seem to do them you soon get a reputation within the game and decent players won't touch the club. From the two games I've seen so far, Salgado on his worst day is still an improvement on Bradley Orr! The same goes for Nelsen with regard to Scott Dann. Good players, who've been good servants to the club and treated like with a complete lack of respect by Venky's.

Good bit of business getting shut of em. Feckin parasites. There is a right way and a wrong way of treating people, and Desai trys to treat people as inferior, when indeed as a person, it is she who is inferior to us all, in fact the lowest piece of scum I have ever encountered, no quality, no empathy, no sense!!

Mattyblue Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Bang on Parson. Can you not see the bigger picture Sparky? Salgado, like the rest of them lead a very comfortable life, so I will not particulary 'feel sorry' for them, however we as a club have been renowned for our professionalism for the last 20 years, treating your players like this is not how BRFC has gone about its business before, and for me it stinks. But aye, as long as we are 'clearing out the deadwood' and replacing them with cheap journeymen like Bradley Orr, who cares ay?

Salgado is clearly not a premier league defender anymore but so long as he's a nice chap we should continue to pay him 3 million a year....... I was referring to the employees of the club....eg... John Williams Tom Finn Ryan Nelsen Salgado Salgado was doing OK when we had a decent manager - agree that age has made him not as influential on the pitch, however we had a lot of injuries this season therefore sure he could have played a part. Afterall, the "manager" was bemoaning not having more "experience" in the team and highlighting the absence of Samba, Nelsen & Salgado.
47er Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Salgado went from being one of our best players to one of our worst------ in an instant! He didn't age that quickly. has to be the way the team was set up. With our new attractive style of football he was left exposed. In any case, he doesn't deserve to be treated like a pariah.

I think Emerton leaving may have had someting to do with it ...He always got up and down the pitch however he played .Thus helping out defensively . Plus the 2 Jones boys not playing from last season..
Hasta Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Slow he may be but lets not forget we ended up with MGP gettong roasted at full back agains west brom which cost us the game whilst Salgado was omitter. We cld have played any defender at lb in that game who would have had more idea. Not picking Salgado cos we have better options is fine. Not picking him when we have no defenders is scandalous. Venkys take most blame bit kean some as he has lied then gone quiet on the issue. Sorry cant type on mobiles. Fat fingers.
Exiled in Toronto Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I have as much sympathy for Salgado as the next man, but I can't help catching a whiff of hypocrisy here. I watched Wolves - West Brom on Sunday and took particular interest in a certain Stephen Reid, playing at right back funnily enough. I don't recall such an outpouring of outrage when he was bundled out the door at the point where he needed the support of his employer the most in getting back to work after the mental anguish of those injuries.

Not the same thing, we paid sick note Reid for years to sit in a treatment room, Salgado is fit and raring to go and he has the winner's mentality, experience by the barrow load and we don't have any better options. I know Lowe has worked hard in this position but he isn't a natural full back and we miss his bite in the centre because the other midfield jellies can't tackle.
Mattyblue Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Reid did a decent job for us, but he had injury problems and was sold on, such is football. Not sure how it can be compared to Salgado?

THIS! THIS! I was saying this to death when people were slating him, but people were to intresting in having a go at him to listen. He was playing well up until about a month into Kean taking charge. You dont just go that bad overnight, like you say he was just left completly exposed. Same happened with givet, there were times under allerdyce when he was injured people were crying out for givet to be back into the left back spot. We have needed full backs with pace because they are having to do so much work on their own with the midfield looking in 2 minds if to get right back and defend or stay up and effectivly doing absolutly nothing. Against Qpr when we were supposdly trying to defend and they scored it was 4 against 4 none of our midfield were busting a gut to get back they just stood idle. We should be defending from the front and pushing teams away from goal not just relying on the defence to perform miracles, it hasnt worked for a year under Kean and it never will and has been the reason we have shipped so many goals.

Exactly right. Kean had absolutely no idea how to use an old pro like Salgado, whereas Allardyce specialises in getting the best out of veteran players. I can only imagine what Ronaldinho or Raul would have amounted to if they'd come here.

I'm guessing they would have been frozen out, because Venkys wouldn't want to pay them appearance bonuses or risk contract renewals
heysham rover Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 The attitude that a player seeing out his contract as a parasite is beyond me. He has been employed to do a job, there is nothing emplopyment law wise to say he is now not fit to do so, why the hell should he leave. I wouldnt leave my job if my boss decided he didnt like me. Football has the same laws as any other industry people just choose to forget that.
SAS Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 He's on again giving rovers fans plenty of attention...
John Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 On his Twitter pic, presume it is Salgado's son wearing a Rovers top in Dubai.
