AllRoverAsia Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Bit harsh on Yakubu, yes he struggled today, but he was completely knackered, lack of premiership games is showing. Yak was isolated for a lot of the game and that exposed his lack of pace. The fact he also looked knackered I put down the the long distance run he put in against Swansea to celebrate the goal with his mentor Kean. For Yak that was a marathon. It'll take him weeks to recover.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Just reading Nixon's twitter feed, he really is doing some sort of PR job for Kean. Where do we start picking apart guff like this? Blaming the previous owners, give me a break. Come on Bryan, Nicko's a media puppet at best and they all p1ss in the same pot.....they will dance on our grave and pop open the Bollinger when we go down.
Stuart Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16132160.stm What a coincidence, I find Steve Kean continuing as our manager tough to take.
Ferrit Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 30% possession. Nothing more needs to be said.
Stuart Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 And that in a nutshell is precisely our issue. all those who obsess about Kean are missing a fundamental point. What would you do in Keans position. Do the honoourable thing. I don't think so. History will show that he was only a part of the problem.Kidd and Ince were clueless with a solid club foundation. I doubt if Sir Alex could work under these circumstances Which goes back to the perennial, KEAN OUT who in, that could work with the SEM Venkys nonsense fest. And in spite of today's result don't forget three injuries so not much room to screw up strategy and some heroic performances. The only chant we should be hearing and the T Shirt we should be wearing is VENKYS PLEASE SELL.. They may respond to politeness. Nothing else has worked, even for Barclays. Your defence of Kean is admirable, I mean, astonishing, John. Kean is so far out of his depth it's untrue. To try to use Ferguson as a comparison to back your argument is beyond laughable. By the way, Ferguson has the Glazers as owners, kind of a rich-man's Venkys. You don't hear about him jetting off to the States once a month, do you?
Doogs Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Keans second half tactics cost us today. Apart from Rovers, Sunderland are the worst side I have seen this season. Even if Kean went, I think it is to late now. We are as good as down. Were do we go from here. Our future is at risk while the Indians run the club.
Fife Rover Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I want Kean out as much as the next man, but with the injuries we couldn't really have much of a different formation than we ended up with. Dunn looked shot in midfield so Lowe was moved to cover him, unfortunately that meant Hanley (who was shocking) at rb. Only saw the free kick as it happened, but thought it looked very harsh. Think barring the injuries we could have seen the game out...can sort of understand the defensive minded tactics but my for the entirety of the 2nd half as anyone could see it wasn't goin to last. That being said was impressed with the defensive partnership of samba/dann, and the work rate of Formica/Simon. Still, Sunderland were there for the taking and once again we failed to mount any semblance of pressure after we scored. Surely the lack of fans and the overall inept performance will cause Venkys to rethink Kean's position? I very much doubt it!! They don't have enough football nous to be even capable of making that determination. And sure as hell nobody outside of us fans are ever going to enlighten them.....too many vested interests at work in keeping things exactly as they are.
Pedro Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 And that in a nutshell is precisely our issue. all those who obsess about Kean are missing a fundamental point. The only chant we should be hearing and the T Shirt we should be wearing is VENKYS PLEASE SELL.. They may respond to politeness. Nothing else has worked, even for Barclays. I don't think they will sack him because it is obvious the Venky woman is in charge and she simpy doesn't care about football. Her sole aim will be to keep things as cheap as possible. What really worried me was the article about the rovers fan (called Ian) who went to Pune to see them. He strongly hints about what we all know - that Kean is really the only one doing anything at the club and is the sole connection to the owners. It leaves you with a frightening dilemma, if we do sack him, who will be stupid enough to take on the burden that he blagged for himself? I can't imagine any experienced manager wanting to work under the conditions he works under and is it going to be a case of better the devil you know than the devil you don't? It does also make me think that a lot of the lies he tells us, he probably has too say them because the truth in stall for us is probably much more frightening Rather than simply Kean out, this club needs new owners. If it has to be in the division below, then so be it.
Mercer Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Shambolic but no surprise. All injuries were defensive so that should not have stopped our midfield from functioning and trying to get forward. IMV, conceded a winner with Yak in the wall managing to get out of the way of the ball instead of heading the bugger. Flagged on here yesterday that the whispers were that Hoilett and Olsson would miss out and surprised that Olsson was even on the bench as the match proved he shouldn't have been and was clearly not fit - suspect he will now be out for both key home games coming up. IMV, rank bad management. Should be no excuses Kean, you make your own luck and, yes, we were unlucky with Dann's disallowed goal but for goodness sake, if you keep harping on about the bad luck then be honest enough to hold up your hand to the good fortune we've had this season, and there's been much - Arsenal stonewall penalty in last minute rejected, likewise @ Wigan with stonewall penalty for them rejected and then Pedders' corner (two matches that readily come to mind). Now in charge for 36 PL games and, IMO, a p1ss poor effort from Kean with 32 points, 19% win% and 18 PL games since a clean sheet - WHAT PART OF THOSE DAMMING STATS DO VENKY'S NOT UNDERSTAND ?
roverandout Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 the only thing venkys understand is kerching!!!
smithsblue Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Judge me now ?! 4 wins in 29. Terminate, terminate with extreme prejudice.
Backroom Tom Posted December 11, 2011 Backroom Posted December 11, 2011 I take it larsson will now get a 3 game ban a la Nzonzi
Uddersfelt Blue Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Not if the ref saw it and decided to take no action
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted December 11, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted December 11, 2011 I take it larsson will now get a 3 game ban a la Nzonzi I wouldn't bank on it sadly. I remember Rooney last season getting sod all even after he assaulted Mccarthy from Wigan.
Myles Anderson Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I take it larsson will now get a 3 game ban a la Nzonzi Spilt milk, its not gonna get us any points back is it?...
Backroom Tom Posted December 11, 2011 Backroom Posted December 11, 2011 Spilt milk, its not gonna get us any points back is it?... Sorry I forgot you were now in charge of the thread and we can only discuss things that will get us points back. May as well close this then

1864roverite Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Second half non performance is the worst I have ever witnessed by a Rovers team. And believe me in 40 years we have had some really bad games. KEAN OUT. The effort to oust him has just been given a massive shot in the arm. If that isnt enough to turn the tide on him then he will be in a job for life. My 40 years of going to Ewood will end after the WBA game if this bloody fool isnt sacked.
A cup of beans Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Keans second half tactics cost us today. Apart from Rovers, Sunderland are the worst side I have seen this season. Even if Kean went, I think it is to late now. We are as good as down. im still feeling sick! kean's lack of nous cost us today.. huge opportunity missed. ridiculous team selections - playing salgado in midfield.. and rank bad management and desperation in picking olsen. scandalous. he needs to go.. sooner rather than later, while we still have chance... everyone knows that, apart from MRS D!
colin Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Another completely incompetent showing. Pat Nevin on Radio 5 lambasted Coco for his decision to do nothing but defend in the second half. Coco has just been on R5 to say that Rovers can escape relegation; win the league; The European Cup; & can enter the World Cup as an independant Republic and win it. I'm also tipped to beat Usain Bolt in the 100m at the 2012 Olympics

Personally don't agree with your feeling on the luck side - I agree we have had some luck go our way this season - but I think overall we could consider ourselves unlucky. However - I agree with your feelings on half fit players - playing Olsson came back to haunt us in this match - and possibly the next. Second half - we actually had a degree of control - and were unstuck by two very good strikes. However - the tactics in the second half were absolutely dismal - Sunderland were there for the taking - and could easily have been hit on the break if we had shown any ambition. Overall - can't call any player - they all put in a decent shift - Salgado possibly being the exception. Also - MGP and Dunn don't know how to defend from midfield - but can't fault their effort. Same goes for Formica and Simon. Lowe at right back was average at best - but had little support from Salgado. The fault for the defeat IMO lies with one person - the tactics were awful - first half we were all at sea defensively and lucky to be 1-0 up - second half we were far too defensive. The big shame - with a half decent manager I think we would have won this one - even with the bad luck with injuries and disallowed goals. Will the owners finally see that Kean isn't the man to get us out of the mess he created - I unfortunately doubt it.
BigDom Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Two words.... RUBBISH TACTICS How did he think, having shipped 30+ goals already this season, that we could defend a 1-0 lead for over 60 minutes ? I am bored of his excuses as injuries and disallowed goals happen to every other club in every football league around the world ! Two more words... KEAN OUT
