Even in the dog days of Kidd and and Parkes (remember that loss to Crewe?) I was never this depressed about Rovers.

It's awful, week after week of unremitting aggro, losses, rumours, inertia from the owners, flannel and incompetence from the manager, defeat after defeat.

Just so thoroughly miserable.

Are we still only marginally off-course for 10th?

You can add another chapter to the how to be an incompetent football manager by Steve Kean after today's performance. The line-up had me worried to begin with, trying a new double right-back tactic are you Steve? oh no wait you can't possibly be playing our slowest player in Salgado in a right wing position can you? oh wait you are.

Funnily enough first half I thought we played quite well despite the weak nature of our midfield containing the aforementioned 36 year-old and the lengendary midfield enforcer duo of Dunn & Pedersen. If not for two poor referee decisions we could have had three in that half, the blantant penalty that wasn't given and the baffling decision to rule out Dann's goal for an apparent foul by Samba. However we didn't disappoint in showing our usually pub team style defending if it wasn't for Robinson's wonder save we could have ended up going in level.

Right 1-0 up at half-time, Sunderland look vulnerable at the back and lack a cutting edge upfront, what shall we do next? That's right we'll drop Formica further back and play five across midfield and leave Yakubu (who was poor today) totally isolated to have a light jog around the opposition half with no support from anyone. Nice one Steve. Blaming all this on unlucky injuries is unfair, Steve you deserve all the credit you managed this all by yourself. You very wisely decide to bring on Olsson who you probably knew very well wans't full fit after just 20 minutes due Givet having to go off. This resulted in another injury recurrence which meant another change was need at half-time, but not to worry Super Steve has packed the bench with three defenders to cover such eventualities. Oh what no not another injury, Salgado off. What to do next? there's no replacement midfielders on the bench, but there is three strikers on there including that future star Nick Blackman. Not to worry I've got another defender on the bench in Hanley. He's really a centreback but not to worry I'll play him right-back and unsettle our defense further by moving the current right-back who's actually a midfielder by trade anyway back into midfield. My word I wish I had more fullbacks and central midfielders to choose from if only I had some somehow. Right lads sit-back now, don't get complacent here I want to imagine you are 1-0 up at the Nou Camp and play accordingly. No running past the halfway line, don't even bother to keep possession just kick it up field and away.

Two well-taken goals from Sunderland you must say but you invite the pressure and you're always going to concede chances, especially given the nature of our defense. If it wasn't for that annoying Robinson bloke in goal and that Samba guy it could have easily been four or five Sunderland .On a more serious note I hope Lowe is okay, never nice to see someone stretched off like that.

After watching todays game on the box , I have come too the conclusion we are the worst team in the league . Couple that with the manager we have , we are doomed to relegation . There is very little talent available at our disposal , Kean completely wasted the last transfer window ..

The next man at the helm needs to be someone who knows the championship , because due to gross mis management that is where we are heading.

Where were Dennis and Chris today ?????

Gutted, I had to go lie down after watching the game. We should have been up 2-0 by half time but ref gave a soft free kick to the S'land keeper.

Forced substitutions gave us no alternatives as we were getting carved up in the second half. We just couldn't push up and out. First Sunderland goal was just one of those goals, and the second was a peach as well - both from outside the box, one of them on freekick.

Samba was immense, Formica worked his socks off. Simon is class and Robinson made some very good saves. Yakubu got nothing all day and didn't have much to work with, with the midfield offering him little or no support. Deserved loss looking at the 90 minutes in full, but gutted to hold on for 84 minutes and leave with nothing.

Hope Lowe is okay.

Not being funny but who cares about Lowe he was woeful today, got exposed time and time again today like he usually does and nearly cost us a goal twice. Just cause he's come from academy doesn't mean you have to pretend he's half decent

Wow...

Cynic.

I think he's done well playing out of position at right back, don't you?

I don't think he's a PL standard midfielder, and I don't think he ever will be. But he will put a shift in and I sincerely hope it's not a serious injury.

Even in the dog days of Kidd and and Parkes (remember that loss to Crewe?) I was never this depressed about Rovers.

I never gave up hope of things turning around the season that we were last religated until it was mathematically impossible to stay up. That season, even though it was painfull at times, I made a point of going to all away games to support the team.

Its not even Chrismas and Im ashamed to say that Ive lost all hope now of avoiding the drop.

Incompetent owners and manager have killed a club that was founder member of the football league.

Today was a disgracefull and embarrising tactical display, it was painfull to watch. If it had been an animal I would have put it down to avoid the sufferring.

Lets hope the swine suffers then

Seriously, up till today he's been a decent player. And it's not as if the rest of the team played a blinder either.

What a terrible second half performance that was. We struggled in the first half but at least kept them at bay with some good defending but you could see it coming towards the end and there was nothing we could do about it. The first goal was what we have been talking about all season, no cover arounf the edge of our box when they are coming forward. No injuries contributed to that it was just down to SK not bringing in the players we needed when he had the chance and most games since we have conceded goals for that reason. Sunderland had nothing at all up front yet we fell so far back in 2nd half they were always going to score at some point, terrible tactics which cost us a game we could have easily won.

KWN OUT!

I don't think people are too bothered about his performance it's his health they are worried about

Your defence of Kean is admirable, I mean, astonishing, John.

Kean is so far out of his depth it's untrue. To try to use Ferguson as a comparison to back your argument is beyond laughable. By the way, Ferguson has the Glazers as owners, kind of a rich-man's Venkys. You don't hear about him jetting off to the States once a month, do you?

And that's where we have got to as fans. We don't even bother to read the comments before we fire off. Precisely where do I offer support for him. indeed I was down his way last week and would personally asked him nicely to consider his position if I had bumped into him. I was making one simple point. If Venkys sell Rovers, we get shot of them, SEM, Kean and hopefully a new owner with desire and money would right the ship. And to precisely my point it is the bonkers owners who want him India every month which shows we have no infrastructure or trust. This is an organization issue with no Chairman on deck and an inexperienced manager who is not cutting it. I am amazed so many of the players are giving it so much. Probably because they are the only professionals left and a number of them know they will be on the gravy train in January as the asset stripping begins in earnest.

So the answer to the question of what is the difference between a Venkys chicken and a Rovers fan is nothing. They are both gutted well before Christmas.

t shirt please #venkyspleasesell. I will take four in XL .
