As poor as Grant is his record is better than Keans and his teams play much better football. He is a major step up from Kean.

But why should we have to settle for him because he is not good enough and would take us down. If venkys want fans inside he is definately NOT the choice. Hughes has to be approached if that is what they want, he is 98% of fans' first choice.

Shearer has a pretty poor record from his short time as manager Newcastle - also, not sure his dead pan personality would be that inspirational at this moment in time.

Considering our predicament, we will need to battle our way out of this therefore someone with experience is needed.

TBF to Al, he is completely different away from the cameras, not that I'd want him as our manager mind you.

shearer would be yet another terrible mistake we need an professional fully qualified manager, shearer would only be coming hear for the money and avram grant is just a senior version of kean(just another yes man).

solksjaer wold be the best bet long term, he an hungry young manager thatsearnt his managerial stripes with molde.

paul lambert for me.

I can't see the attraction for him right now, whereas Hughes is currently without a job. However I imagine he'd have demands concerning his 'team' of assistants and would want assurances about Venky's commitment to the club next season so he'd have the chance of bringing us back up first time.

Doesn't seem likely does it? :(

I too am inspired by Solksjaer. Would he though?

For me - has to be Hughes - he knows the club, lots of the players - and would bring a good back room staff as well. People say he wouldn't take it - why not - short term deal with bonuses for keeping us up. To be honest - if he sorts out the mess we are in - it would surely enhance his reputation.

I think the owners are looking at Shearer to help unite the fans - but I think Hughes would have the same effect.

As for Solksjaer - he would definitely be on my back up list - but do we really need another manager with little experience of managing in the premiership ?

Lets call a spade a spade most managers in professional football would be better than Kean who for my money wasn’t a manager when he got the job and has conclusively failed to prove he is a manager now.

But I would be very wary of appointing someone on the criteria “just because he is better than Kean” we could end up with 100+ managers I wouldn’t have touched with a barge pole 12 months ago.

Shearer greatest player ever for my money but seems to have lost touch with rovers somewhat, comments on motd such as "its only a few protesters" “Kean hasn’t become a bad manager overnight and needs time” NOOOOOOOO he never was a manager, certainly not a passable one, in the first place.

That said I don’t think the question should be who should we have, it should be who wouldn’t be better. Even if next manager has same record then hopefully he can't be as big a irritating, delusional, prat as Kean.

Well put sir. Hughes would likely be the biggest lift in respect of local pr. A plausible chance as saviour also. Would the owners meet his demands though?

This has to be a joke.

Grant has relegated 2 clubs while Kean as yet does not have a relegation on his CV so how can Grant have a better record and be a major step-up ??

Oh, and I'm sure Pompey and West Ham fans enjoyed watching good football while they went down.

Please do not dismiss Shearer based upon motd quotes. He got very short shrift upon leaving, and perhaps would be justified in losing a little interest but no doubt has an underlying affinity. Ability is another matter, willingness would be apparent. The chap we have now just seems to completely bs all situations.

At this point in time....Hughes till the end of the season. Then in summer open to applications. Souness on a short term I could handle till summer.

SAY NO TO DAVE JONES and the Dirty SEM!

Grant is shabba, and Shearer whilst a fans favourite is unproven.

Happy with any of - Hughes, Ancelotti, Rafa, Lambert

Unhappy with - Grant, Jones, Babbel, Solksjaer, Bruce

Could be decent – Holloway

Risky – Lee Clarke, Tugay, Shearer, Newell, Grayson

Have some of you posted their opinions after 12 pints and a works do?

Grant? Shearer? OGS - no, no, no, NO!!!!!!!!!! The charisma of a crab stick and minimal experience in saving a club!

We need a motivator to kick the players in gear. Someone with passion, experience and a record of saving clubs! This would be short term contract but for me with a big pay day if we stay up but . .. . SOSS - Save Our Souls Souness!!

Lambert - why would he leave Norwich? Seriously! Well run club, full house every game, nice place, good squad and no venkys!!!

Holloway is an option later on, but we need someone who can work with what we have! There is no time to reassemble!!!

Obviously the NUMBER 1 target would be Hughes but I just cannot see it hence why I think SOSS is the best option for the remaining games!!

Keeping up with International Football, I think Avram Grant actually did have a good run managing Israel. Then, thought he did okay to good at Chelsea in my view. Portsmouth had financial problems and were penalised for going into administration or similar, Portsmouth were not good but not awful under Grant in my humble opinion. West Ham was never a job that fit Grant but he probably should have been able to do better and keep them up, it's said that club did have talent. I'd have to research his management records to really see how he has performed. In some ways, it looks like he had a lot of bad luck. For about 2 weeks last year, it looked like the Hammers had turned it around and they played well just for those two weeks but then flip-flopped back down. He'd be a shaky appointment.
