This morning i thought it was about time i went onto the Venkys website in order to get the link to tell them exactly what i think of them as its been a while since i last did it, but i have been unable to get on it. I have tried at work and at home on various computers, but to no avail.

Can anyone shed any light on this ??

Can anyone else get onto it ??

Hopefully this is not a bad omen that they are really up sh1t creek financially.

Bloody hell your right, just tried to get on again and coldn't. This is very interesting. If it's the same again tomorrow and Friday it could be very, very interesting????

I tried earlier, nope, nothing. It's probably a family disagreement about the landing page or something. They can't all agree so in the meantime they've shut their website down, their customers have lost faith in them, suppliers panicking, chickens rejoicing, share price plummeting. Confidence in the "chicken giants" in Blackburn however remains unaffected.

Just checked a website that checks the URL, here's the result:

It's not just you! http://Venkys.com looks down from here.

May well just be a server issue, regular maintenance (middle of the night in India) but interesting nonetheless.

I assume it is a server issue. That's what it usually is.

I don't quite know what is being suggested

Or perhaps the server its on is down for maintenance? Yet more "Rumours" will be started from this for no reason.

Don't websites usually have some sort of a 'down for maintenance' message if that's the case? Mind you not the best at communicating, Venkys, are they?

Exactly, that's the common sense approach, which we all know Venkys like to ignore.

I could always go down the rumour mill route and say that "I heard on twitter" that the protests are DDOS the venkys website.

This is completely untrue by the way :P But the fact the website isn't returning a response could mean its crashed its being DDos or something else in Pune from the internet company http://www.balasai.com that hosts it could be going on.

Or perhaps the funds haven't transferred from the bank to the Hosting company....... so many possible rumours.

If it is a server issue, fair enough. I'm not that much of an expert on the internet !!.

How long do server issues usually last ???.

I first tried to get on at about 10am this morning. Is it normal to be down this long ??

Distributed denial of service attack for all you technophobes

You'd hope, actually expect, that a company such as Venkys Chickens (big in the Brazilian chicken world lest we forget) have at the very least a contracted 365 x 24 x 4 SLA in place for their gateway to the world.

Then again maybe they got some two bob IT company in to host it instead. And look what's happened now? A few people in Blackburn are a tad concerned.

So no change there then. It's probably just Norton AV that needs renewing or something.

You're right, they've got a habit of employing "two bob" people/companies to run their interests (as in Kean at Rovers). They definately like to do things on the cheap.

Sounds like they need Microsoft Security Essentials

Probably two of them, a trip to The Fox and Hounds on a match day and a massive kick up the arse!

Just done a bit of digging, they use Tata Communications for their website support. The site hasn't been updated since September. This is an unexpected downtime. Probably just a system failure though, funny how we are jumping at anything now.
