Doug Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Well done Rovers, against all odds!!! Who'd have given us a chance?
imy9 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 All those knocking our young lads before the game, watch that game later again, our young players were superb. Hanley and Henley played really well as did Lowe. Feels like a win.
John Howarth Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 An excellent hard earned point from a very workmanlike performance. Well done to all the players and the management.
MarkBRFC71 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Good point, decent performance. Thought the defence was excellent, Bunn and Henley in particular. Midfield is the weak point as it has been since Savage left. That's where we need to spend - if there's any money! Kean still needs to go however. Have a good Boxing Day evening peeps!
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Anyone who brings up Kean or Venkys this evening should be banned. Great effort. Bunn played a blinder. No one saw this result coming, credit all round.
jim mk2 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 good result but still only 1 point from the last possible 12 Don't tell the manager though - he sees only positives.
McClarky Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 What a finish. Well earned point with great defending. Once we weathered the storm in the 2nd half we looked OK but didn't really threaten apart from when the Yak got in Dunn's way. Superb from Henley and Lowe.
Devon Rover Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Omg. Two off the line. I am a Rovers fan. Heroes. Difference between hope and abject despair. Nervy ending to the game but I'm also very proud of today's inexperienced defence and goalkeeper. It looked ominous on paper but sounds as though they did brilliantly. Perhaps the future of the club isnt quite as bad as I think it is? League table still looking very bad and relegation is still odds on in my opinion but a brave performance and good result like today's at least makes me feel proud of the Rovers again.
cesus Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 The chips were down today and we stood and fought against a far superior team, thats all I will ever ask for. Delighted with the effort today, Bunn and Henleys saves at the end had me jumping up and down ... It's been a while!
sambo Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Anyone who brings up Kean or Venkys this evening should be banned. Great effort. Bunn played a blinder. No one saw this result coming, credit all round. So one result and we should forget the last 12 months and the mess we're in?
jim mk2 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Anyone who brings up Kean or Venkys this evening should be banned. Eh ? Memo to self: Club is not in turmoil and not going bankrupt and team is not virtually relegated at Christmas.
Rover Down Under Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Fantastic! And I've got 2 mates from Adelaide at the game, one pillock who bought a box, you know the type - "My Gran once talked to a bloke who owned a cat that was born in Liverpool, that's why I support them". Massive ###### taking to ensue. Was worth staying up for in the end Henley was brilliant, put a 30m buyout clause in his contract NOW!
hesfromburn Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 great performance, by bunn henley, hanley, lowe. mentions for samba, dunn, formica. N'zonzi could have done better. pederson, yakubu, hoilett, were they on the pitch??? wasnt really a game for hoilett had to play deep.

Assuming we don't fold, our Academy will keep us in business in the lower leagues. The problem is that the new deal the PL signed with the FL means that PL teams can poach Academy players for £200k i.e. rather than £18m for Jones we'd have got £200k when he was 16. We've always produced good lower league players though. The new crop - Hanley, Henley, Lowe et al is the most promising for quite a while.
Andy Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 I did predict a 0-0 on one of the early pages, so I'm having that It'll be a nightmare listening to Kean feasting out on this one for days though... Good point, if Bunn can play like that consistently then I've no worries about losing Robbo. Likewise with Henley - if he can do that regularly then we've got an answer to one problem.
Audax Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 One reason it will be hard to climb the table is because so many clubs except namely Bolton seem to be playing well, WBA drew City, big surprise.
Plastic Head Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Anyone who brings up Kean or Venkys this evening should be banned. Great effort. Bunn played a blinder. No one saw this result coming, credit all round. 20th place...Kean or Venkys. Well done Bunn...
JWUpper Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Wow. All I have to say is Bunn for England afte his last minute heroics. Enjoy the win and ignore the Kean/Venkys situation for a few hours!

m1st Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 A positive for all fans to clutch at: both Bolton & Wigan have done worse today. A positive for many on this Board: wasn't it the away game @ Old Trafford which led the Venkers to sack Big Sam? Maybe; just maybe, . . .
Backroom DE. Posted December 26, 2011 Backroom Posted December 26, 2011 So one result and we should forget the last 12 months and the mess we're in? Hilarious isn't it The saddest thing about today's result is that if we'd beaten WBA and Bolton it would have been a brilliant result. In isolation, considering the team we had out, it's an incredible score. Sadly, as we lost to WBA and Bolton at home today's game will likely mean f all, so forgive me if I'm not dancing in the streets tonight.
Backroom Tom Posted December 26, 2011 Backroom Posted December 26, 2011 Anyone who brings up Kean or Venkys this evening should be banned. Come off it, fact is yes we got a much needed point in a good performance. The reason it was much needed? WE just lost to Sunderland, West Brom and Bolton on the bounce we would have been better performing agaisnt those teams. Chuffed for Henley and Bunn though, good on you boys. Urgh Kean on SSN
Amo Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Anyone who brings up Kean or Venkys this evening should be banned. lol. And I thought the media were bad. Even some of our own fans haven't a clue.
