47er Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I remember reading a story months ago about some Rovers fans registering a new club to replace Rovers. Doesn't seem such a far-fetched idea now does it? If wealthy supporters got behind it, could reach the Football league in a few years. Anyone know if the project has moved on?

Backroom DE. Posted December 21, 2011 Backroom Posted December 21, 2011 Get Blackburn Olympic revived
JAL Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Get Blackburn Olympic revived Blackburn Olympic play in the Blackburn combination (local football league) nowadays.
Backroom DE. Posted December 22, 2011 Backroom Posted December 22, 2011 Blackburn Olympic play in the Blackburn combination (local football league) nowadays. Is that so? Are they able to rise through the leagues upto the football league or is it strictly local?
JAL Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Is that so? Are they able to rise through the leagues upto the football league or is it strictly local? Purely local lads with no ground of their own who just turn up and use the local council pitches on a saturday.
Guest Rovers4Good Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Is that so? Are they able to rise through the leagues upto the football league or is it strictly local? Strickly local bud. They tried to apply for the North West Counties but were too late with the application which is the starting block to hopefully football league but look at the likes of FC United who did formed a good few years ago now but seem to be stuck after getting promoted in their first few seasons. Not the way to go but if some want to do it then great but i won't be following them. Getting behind other local teams like Stanley, Chorley, Clitheroe etc would be more worth while and i'm sure they could all do with a cash injection.

the original david brent Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 If there was going to be an 'AFC Blackburn' as such, then why not revive the name Blackburn Olympic. I appreciate there may be a combination team under the same name but I cannot see the name being patented or anything like that. AFC this, FC that is not original anymore. We already have AFC Darwen, AFC Liverpool, FC United. Revive Blackburn Olympic, with all of its history!
Guest Rovers4Good Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 If you'd want Blackburn Olympic then why not contact the guys who run the team to see if they'd give you the registration name as you cannot have 2 teams named the same even though it'll be a different league?
Clitherover Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I think this is something that needs to be left till the club folds, which might not be too far into the future. Did they call the club they set up FC Rovers of Blackburn or something daft, only AFC Blackburn works for me.
