[Archived] Where does the protest go now?

Recommended Posts

I am not sure what the posting etiquate is on here and this may well get moved but this is my post anyway.

Despite the media and pampered football millionaires condemning Rovers fans on a daily basis for the continued protests, Rovers fans appear very much united about what we are doing and why we are doing it.

I have witnessed some disgraceful behaviour over the last few months and none of it has been from the fans. Shame I can't say the same about the media, Venky's, Kean, etc.

The microscope is very much on Rovers fans now and I feel the authorities will be keen to clamp down hard now on anyone who crosses the line. More so than ever, it is important that protesters ensure a peaceful approach and ultimately this is going to be the best way to achieve our ultimate goal (competent and trustworth owners and management)anyway.

My proposal for the Stoke game is that everyone turns up to the game and then walks round the ground for the next 90 minutes in calm, non-confrontational, peaceful protest. Remembering that the aim of the protest is not to cause trouble or a threat to public safety but to bring stability back to our beloved football club. What do you think?

We've always protested in a nice peaceful manner when the protests are planned but now we face them being unplanned due to what happens within the 90 minutes of a game and the lack of guidance the players have.

With regards to walking around for 90 mins then not sure i would want to do that sorry but i will be boycotting matches from no on.

If Venky's cannot afford to sack Kean (article in Independent) then not going will hit Venky's harder than me wasting my breathe calling for his head. :)

Personally I think the fight for answers should move to India as Venkys obviously don't care about British press. I'm talking releasing a press statement to all major Indian news outlets something along the lines of this: http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2011/12/20/rovers-fans-pose-64-questions-but-blackburn-postpone-meeting201201/

A boycott would be my favoured option but I know people won't stay away on mass, so I am proposing that we encourage all fans not to spend any money on a match day. No programmes, no beer (I Know!), burgers, sweets etc etc.

If rovers start having to send barrels back and dumping wasted pies, burgers etc it will have a impact on them plus suppliers.

If acceptable perhaps the Lancs Telegraph could support the idea.

That will hit Venky's in the pocket but I am thinking the sight of 10,000 fans walking round the ground whilst the game is on would definitely send a message around the world about the depth of feeling towards the current regime at Ewood. I think feeling is so strongly against Venky's that this is something that could be pulled off. There were 600 outside the ground at 11 pm on Tuesday. Boycotting beer and pies may cost Venky's £50k a game but the effects of this are a bit more behind the scenes. Walking round the ground during the game would definitely paint 1000 words. Increasing awareness of the problem is the last thing Venky's and co want.

Why not do both..? It's a case of by any means necessary and the hit in the pocket would upset the V$NKYS more!! And would cause more suppliers like WEC to start asking questions because it is now starting to effect local businesses and will demonstrate to them what it will be like when the Venkys close the gates...well the administrators.

Or all of us could go and watch Blackburn Olympic down at Pleasy instead that would be funny having 20,000 fans watching pub footy :)

Could get Lionel Messi though. :)

Remember any talk of illegal activities will be removed.

I like the idea of a boycott but sadly it will more than likely come accross as indifference and apathy more than anything else

As long as we shift the emphasis entirely to the owners, I'm up for anything reasonable.

If we changed ALL our banners, T Shirts, Social Media and Chants to anti venky's, then we would get much more external support and they would be scrutinised more.

We could also absolve everyone of any possibility of affecting the playing side, whatsoever.

I'd like to see us putting more pressure on The FA and PL as well, if it is possible.

And what about our sponsors?

Maybe it would be worth getting a few ideas together as above and then taking a vote on it. I have been very impressed with how Rovers fans have rallied together during these protests. My only fear is we are getting to the point now where we have lots of different ideas about what is the best way to take the protest forward (all of which are good ideas) and we run the risk of the message being diluted if small pockets go off doing their own thing. The real power Rovers fans have is that we are all united. I think it would be best to decide on one idea and then once it is agreed everyone get behind it 100%.

I have always been against a boycott for the exact reason you have stated. A walk round the ground is quite different though. It shows we can be bothered but it also shows how unhappy we are. I also think visually it would send a massive message throughout football. I was part of the protests Tuesday after the game. It was a great effort by Rovers fans but Sky made it look like it was no big deal. 10,000 fans peacefully walking round the ground sends out as strong a message as you can possibly send.

Protests were in the interests of inciting change within the club. Those calls have gone unheeded and will continue to be ignored for as long as Venky's own the club.

Any protest now should simply be in spite of the owners.

Ritual burning of the Indian flag(s) with Mrs D's face on it inside Ewood. This may put pressure on her and bring her to her senses.

Disclaimer!!!! - this is not a racist post and I have no ill feelings to Indians in general just this particular family

Not a good idea, you may not think it's racist but outsiders will. A very bad idea. There's one thing burning plain flags with the Venky's logo, but an Indian one is a completely different kettle of fish.

Don't think with your ass.

You want the media to think we're effigy-burning racists as well as unruly protesters? Good job there!

The problem isn't with India. It's with the three Stooges who come from there.

OK maybe my suggestion came across in the wrong way.

I was trying to say all protests to date have had no impact and even following Tuesday's defeat and run of results Mrs D has still refused to sack Kean. To be frank, I don't think Mrs D could give a toss about protesters being stood out in the rain at Brockhall - in fact I suspect she is having a laugh. The only thing she appears to listen to is the bullshit coming out of Kean's mouth.

I think we need to understand, culturally, what it is that will hurt Mrs D and will make her take note of the supporters. In this way her allegiance to Kean may be tested. It is clear that she doesn't understand/listen to the British way of protesting so we need to find a way of protesting that culturally she will understand and hopefully listen to.

any protest has to be in the ground to get media attention. the crowd should face away from goal when the game kicks off maybe?.Or even just everyone leaves the ground at half time ??

P.s easy for me to say living 300 miles away

I was thinking something like that. Would have been cool to see a whole stand facing the other way for an entire match. Or like you say, all leaving at half time no matter the score.

The PS applies to me as well though, so I don't feel I should talk too loudly :/
