[Archived] Will We Be Stronger After Jan Window

Recommended Posts

Basically the january window is just around the corner, Andy Johnson seems to be a dead cert to sign (if kean stays) good signing IMO at £2million. There are stories flying around that samba, hoillett, robinson and possibly dunn will be leaving. So the question is do you think we can hang on to these players and add a bit of quality?

Until such time as sanity returns to Ewood Park I will just carry on watching Cowdenbeath and East Fife. Both these little clubs have 11 players on the pitch that really DO care and are regularly watched by "crowds" (?) of a few hundred. At least I get my full money's worth (++) when I do that.

Fife, have you read the two Cowdenbeath books? I loaned mine out and as usual can't remember who to, and they were of course never returned. I recall one was called "The Black Diamonds"? Excellent reads.

Considering the mass exodus on the cards and the apparent lack of investment i don't see how anyone can say we will be stronger after the window.

Wonder how many PL managers will somehow be aware of the release triggers in our best players' contracts? Should be a nice profitable window for a couple of people.

Bungs galore at Ewood.

They'll be singing now 'brown paper packages tied up with string, these are a few of my favourite things'.

Maybe i'm just being an optimist but i think if kean stays venkys are going to back him. Of all the players mentioned leaving i can't see more than one of them going. I'm sticking my neck out here and will no doubt in the next few weeks be reminded about this comment! However i ain't lost ALL hope yet..

Sorry to hear of your loss PB....it defo wasn't me you lent them to.;) But to answer your question ...No I haven't read them, but I will look out for them now. Both Cowdenbeath and East Fife are great little clubs with long and proud histories, and both have known much better times, especially East Fife....once one of the top clubs in Scotland.....Shades of things to come for BRFC??? :o

Just ask yourself have Rovers become stronger or weaker over the past two transfer windows and there you'll then find your answer.

i think samba, hoilet and now Robinson are definitely up for sale(unofficially), whether anybody will come in for them and match venkys ridicules valuations for them is another matter, most likely managers will come in with offers below the players valuations to get negotiations going(as any manager would do) but then realize the venkys are completely irrational, unprofessional and impossible to negotiate with and will then look elsewhere, leaving us with key players that dont want to be here.

I think nicko mentioned on Twitter we'd be due 7m compo if Hoilett leaves on a free. So no point selling him for anything less than that, or even for less than 10m.

I think some of the fringe players will be sold if we can get anything for them. Roberts, Salgado, Andrews, maybe even Dunn.

That would be a few million off the wage bill as well I imagine.

Just how the hell can we be stronger if we lose ANY of our top players?...who is going to want to come to this Championship bound club with a tool of a manager and clueless owners

Worse case scenario will see Samba,Hoillet and Robinson sold down the river and replaced by inferior players, the final nail in our Premiership existense.

Only if Hoilett goes to an English club. Remember, he's also well known in Germany, Canada and the USA. There is nothing preventing him from spending a year or two outside of England (for free) and then returning to your nation. Rovers get zip and he gets a huge signing bonus.
