Exactly correct.....

We will then wait until about 2 hours before the transfer deadline before selling Samba, put in a couple of last-minute derisory offers for players that are rejected. Kean will say he tried but the other club / player priced themselves out of a move and it's not his fault and judge him after the August transfer window.....cue Venky's bulging sofa again.....

:lol:My thoughts exactly

Ricardo fuller... Jesus wept!!!!

Am I the only person on here who actually thinks Fuller is quite decent? I mean not brilliant but certanly better than Goodwillie, Kalinic, Roberts et al. Has suffered at Stoke from them pumping the ball up so much. Has good feet.

edit - he is 32 years old. Jesus christ, no idea about that. AVOID AVOID AVOID......

Spot on. Goodwillie is a brick. Too slow. Yak is a brick too of course, but the good kind... he at least has a turn of speed and can spot a chance and take it in a millisecond. We need someone to act as a foil to Yak, not a pale (no pun intended) imitation of him minus the turn of speed. Get rid of Goodwillie now. And Roberts. And Petrovic. And the young brazilian (who ?). Along with Salgado, Grella etc. They are adding no value, and we need to bring in some cash so we can buy (or at least pay the loan wages for) a proper left back, a decent CM, and someone with speed up front...without selling Samba.

The "young Brazilian" is actually about 29!!! You are forgiven for thinking otherwise though by the way he was described as a young Dennis Irwin!

i remember a goal Fuller scored at west ham maybe last season or the season before when he literally created the goal out of nothing. I don't think he's quite bargain basement but maybe one step up. If he was playing every week i feel he'd score a few due to his unpredictable nature but realistically he couldn't save us from the drop.

As we all knew, the four players who Kean wants to sign will come from the bargain basement. Not one promise about transfers has ever been kept, including "we are no longer a selling club".

How I long for some good news.

We have continued to operate as a trading club. Our loss on player acquisitions is roughly the same to our gain on player sales. Even if you don't count the mysterious 5.8m loss on player sales mentioned in the latest accounts.

For us to be a selling club we would have to have spent 8m and brought in 18m like 2 seasons ago and then spent that money on covering operating loss and boost shareholder funds. Instead we balanced the books and injected an additional 10m capital to cover operational expenses.

How comforting!

True but there's only so far you can go without having any money to spend. Hughes knew that which is why he left rovers. Rovers were on the slide under the trust and a takeover was meant to stop the decline. In reality, it has speeded up the decline. With a decent manager and sensible financial bases, like we were under the trust, we would have been in the prem for a few more years. However, it was inevitable that we were going to get relegated at some point because we had no money to strengthen the squad. That's why Hughes left, and Souness and there was even talk of Allardyce wanting out.

Everton are on the slide now that they have stopped spending, Newcastle got lucky this season as there risky signings turned out to be good, Wolves have stagnated (and that's only because they actually spent money), wigan and Boltojn are on the decline. Swansea and Norwich are flash in the pans. Look at the teams in the top half of the table - most of them have money to spend.

Sadly this is very true but makes our recent decline even more sad. We had no money but a good manager and board who made sure we operated within our limits and got best value for our players . We are going down this year because of our owners not because we have a terrible team. This could all have been avoided by sacked kean and bringing in some with experience .
