It would be one of those typically unimaginative and pointless signings that struggling premier league teams make.

I think you could reasonably insert

", desperate"
between "unimaginative" and "and" there, Eddie!

I actually think Johnson would do a good job for us if we had the midfield to support a 4-4-2 formation.

Johnson loves running the channels whilst Yakubu prefers to be a box player, they seem quite a natural partnership. Johnson works hard closing down as well.

The problem is that we don't have a central midfield pairing that are strong enough to play in a 4-4-2, we would desperately need a quality signing to play alongside N'Zonzi. I don't think we have anyone who could play on the right of midfield, either.

Robinson

Lowe Samba Dann Givet

??? N'Zonzi ??? Olsson

Yakubu Johnson

Fill those question marks with suitable players and it's a pretty good team, problem is we don't have any money to bring in the missing links.

The departure of Samba will be the biggest blow for BRFCS in years and I dont think im going to far as in saying its on par with Shearer's departure in 1996 because Samba going means loss of a leader, captain, inspiration and spirit. It will also give us a far less attacking threat at set pieces and corners and we will be very suseptable at the back even more so than now.

Yes you are.

Samba is important to us, vital in fact but his ability is way overblown by our fans. This will be discovered when he moves on. Factually he is the central player in a defence that has conceded 81 goals in a season and a half. He hasn't been blameless in this!

Agreed that Rovers don't have the players to play a 4-4-2 formation. It's not just a new problem that has occurred suddenly Rovers have had a central midfield problem for years. Probably the last time we had a really solid one was when we had Savage, Reid, Tugay and a fit Dunn. Listening and reading Kean's comments he doesn't seem to think it's a problem...

Worrying, isn't it?

I think we had a strong enough midfield to play 4-4-2 at the tail end of last season: Emerton, N'Zonzi, Jones, Olsson. Emerton and Olsson were good on the wings because they had excellent engines to get up and down the pitch, and Jones added something we had lacked since Savage left.

We really never should have let Emerton go for free, he would have played every game in this season in one position or another.

Im going to assume that Samba and Hoilett go. If that's the case the side looks more.

------------------Bunn

Henley----Dann---Givet---Olsson

Formica—Nzonzi---Lowe---Vukcevic

-----------Yakubu---Johnson

That’s probably the sort of team we are going to end up with. Sad really. Arguably the keeper, centrebacks and Yakubu are up to it. Everyone else has severe question marks against them. I imagine they will all be very disheartened... what’s left of morale will go through the floor once Samba goes.

Clearly the single signing which would do the most to revitalise the team would be a high standard partner for Nzonzi a la Jermaine Jones. However with us rock bottom and pandemonium at the club that seems impossible. All we are likely to get are either punts on young players (like Petrovic) or over the hill veterans.

Kean would definitely pick Pedersen over Vukcevic. I'd imagine he'd pick Dunn (if fit) over Henley as well, and move Lowe.

He seems to like Dunn and Pedersen.

Andy Johnson might be the type of player to stick with us when we drop a division though. It is looking like we'll fall as well with Samba wanting out (Who can blame him?) Junior probably leave (I think we all knew this way back). Then the players we'll bring in will be average at best. AJ will score but often and isnt as good as the Yak. So unless we are going to play 442 i dont see the point. At least its a bit of transfer movement.

hahahahahha bull!

"The Frenchman had doubts about Dann at the start of the season after a long lay-off but he has played regularly this season for Rovers."

NO HE HASNT! when he has played he has been poor to average at best, at the moment hanley has stepped up so our best defenders in order are: Samba, givet, hanley, dann. he would be 4th choice maybe 5th if ryan can sort his injury out. Hanley has shown more in his last 2 - 3 games than dann. Dann hasnt lived up to expectations, they can have him!!!

we need midfielder/full back NOW!

Dann can ###### off with his balls!

Andrews is still here, Salgado is still here, Roberts probably will be here this decade. Samba has his mind elsewhere already. Junior would leave in a second if top 10 club made a call. Formica would like to go home. Now there are paper talk about bigger clubs watching Dann. I except same for Robbo sooner than later. Nelsen hasn´t recovered yet, will he?

Johnson is the only player who could be on his way but we can´t even afford for a decent offer. Is this the quick business Steve? Honestly, this is not his fault. Being a muppet who doesn´t demand Venky´s to do something is his fault.

Kamy, honestly mate, they haven't paid the £10m, they're looking to basically "re-mortgage" or get a loan to pay the Barclays loan if posts are to be believed. Kean should have gone months ago. We're bottom of the league.

The only place we're going is down and out. Unless something pretty bloody amazing happens, a miracle in fact. It would have to be the biggest turnaround in sporting history if they do and I don't just mean staying up.

They need to sell up and get gone. Or at the very least put the club up for sale. It would also be nice if they could speak to us. You know, the fans.

Anyway, I've just added to 19 pages of transfer gossip. We're normally up to page 250 by now. Nuff said.

I just read this and nodded to myself in that sort of "He's right" kind of way.

Then I reached the bottom of the page and noticed I'm the only person in the thread!!!! At 9:45 in the evening in the middle (almost) of the transfer window?

The halcyon days of a little money to spend, 11 o'clockers etc are certainly long gone.

Hellooooo, is there anybody there....?

It's not Danns fault if he's not good enough. You can't fault his effort. It's no good telling him to **** off. I'd abuse the people who thought he would be good enough and then pick him if I was you.

Haha I was just angry more at the article, IM sick of all the articles that have veeb written about rovers without any sort of research involved.

I hope Dann sorts his balls out and he comes good. But I never even noticed him at Birmingham and they got relegated.

All I have Heard is stuff off other people like he was injured so birmingham went down and newspaper rumours that arsenal etc were intrested in him (which I doubt is true)

From what Ive seen at rovers he doesnt look good, he is like a nerbous hippo on ice.

You couldnt of asked for a better partner than samba If you cant look half decent beside him I start to worry!

We need him to be fit and step up because nelsen is struggling.

I think Hanley has does amazing to step up last 2 -3 games but it is unfair to rely on him to fill nelsens shoes - he aint no phil jones..yet!

Hanley could one daty turn out a greater defender than jones at least for rovers(especially since jones has lost his confidence & looked gash recently for man u). But he hasnt got the initial confidence jones had to be that season saver.

So why has Gibson dropped from £4m in the summer to £500k now?

Obviously not rated by united.

He was involved in that incident that saw Rooney get a fine and dropped from the first team. We all know what happens when Ferguson falls out with a player for things like that.

£500k?? Probably a number of factors. They tried to sell in summer, he had the boxing night p1ss up with Rooney and he was out of contract is summer too I think?
