Norwich had bid accepted by Leeds for Jonny Howson.

We should be trying to sign him! Great talent and a real midfield general in the Batty mould. If Bradley Johnson can cut it in the Premiership, Howson certainly can.

Would be worth a shout. Certainly at a cheapish fee as his contract is up in the summer.

Exit Simon Williams, enter the Brazilian chicken farmer and self-styled football expert.

What a shambles.

I wonder what Simon Hunt, our Sporting Director, does to keep himself occupied ?

if we only bring in Modeste on loan and Caceres for a small fee but we keep all our other players , would you consider it a good transfer window??

In two words : No, shyte !

VENKY’S’ top Brazilian source will arrive at Ewood Park today in an attempt to help Blackburn Rovers land their January transfer targets.

He played a big role in Rovers’ shock bid to land Ronaldinho last year and is also understood to have been involved in the signing of Brazilian full back Bruno Ribeiro in the summer

It's a shame that Sky and the rest don't care as the last 14 months would have made great copy for them. Just when you think Venkys go quiet they pull out another ace. How did this one transpire? Start dream sequence wavy lines;

Barry Chuckle: "Sis, we need some players. We might be getting relegated. You know what that means don't you?"

The Iron Lady: "It's going to cost you your pocket money?"

Barry Chuckle: "Don't be daft. I already spent that on my new gun, my film, and my pop concert. Remember what nice Mr. CENSORED told us?" We can find players who are really cheap then sell them on later for big profits, just like our chickens."

Paul Chuckle: "Brazil have loads of good players. Lots of cheap ones too."

The Iron Lady: "Brazil, eh?" (Pauses)

"Don't worry boys, I'll get our man Joao on the case. We are already paying him so he's free. He loves watching football on TV too."

Barry Chuckle: "Great idea. I love Rovers me."

Paul Chuckle: "Me too. Come on Barry let's go out and play."

Barry Chuckle: "2 minutes Paul. I need to finish polishing my new sword first."

Paul Chuckle: "OK."

Chicken factory manager...

...brought in to 'advise' on football players (clearly not acting as an agent because that would surely be a breach of rules).

...doesn't bring in Ronaldinho - which gets us laughed out of the football world.

...does bring in Bruno Ribeiro - apparently mistaken for a different, good, Ribeiro - who doesn't get near the first team despite the worst defensive injury crisis in recent history.

You couldn't make up this crap.

Modeste on loan = superb

modeste and caceras = bloody superb

modeste , caceras and onouha = we're staying up and Kean gets Manager of the Year

Provided we don't lose anyone .....

I don't know enough about Modeste and Caceres personally but if you consider signing Modeste would mean the transfer window is 'superb' then you are easily pleased. We have problems at full-back, central defence, central midfield. Failing to sort any of those areas will mean its another failed transfer window, whether or not a cover striker for Yakubu is brought in on loan.

Ya but with owners like this .... not losing any important guys is a sucessful window.... thats how low my expectaation

Central mid has to be priority, ideally 2, followed by a right back and a striker

You've hit the nail on the head there. If we don't strengthen in these 3 positions we are down. A right back is a must. Even if everyone is fit we still don't have an experienced right back. I don't count Salgado as it seems obvious he is not long for this club.

I dont think we are.....I think the absolute must is a defensive shield, so the Paraguayan lad sounds ideal as he will get stuck in too.

Ideally we would add a right back and another midfielder with box to box qualities, and then a striker as we look abit bare upfront when the Yak isnt in attack.

Although Caceres sounds fine... We need players with PL experience to stay in this league and deep down we all know this.

Middle of the pitch would be my priority but it doesn't seem to be for our deluded manager. A right back and forward are must also... Modeste won't be the answer although I'd like to be proven wrong. I'd like us to ship some out and try and get Owen on loan, regardless of his injury record.

Ewwwww Owen? Hasnt he only managed 76 minutes of league football all season? Thats like another premier club saying 'lets sign vince grella'.

Wasn't it last January that we signed Formica and Rochina? How long did it take before they established themselves in the first team - 12 months and counting. I'm not saying that bringing in players from abroad won't work but it is a gamble. If it works great. If it doesn't it's too late to do anything about it. How many games have Vukcevic and Petrovic played thus far? Kean said he wanted proven Premier League players early in the window. As others have said, bringing in players who can hit the ground running will give us a better chance of survival. Even if the new players only take a month or so to settle it may mean the difference between staying up and going down.

We did yes but we also signed JJ who probably was our BEST player in the 2nd half of the season.

Think alot depends on the style of player, tippy tappy players like Formica always seem to take longer.

Agree with Hughesy and Miqaayil about the transfer window. I will see it is a good transfer window if we bring in Caceres. If we are to keep everyone he is IMO the only thing we need. In yesterdays interview it was said that we have scored more goals than Newcastle, but we are leaking. I think this should be and hope it is Kean's main focus. To ensure this we need a shield with great work rate infront of the back four.
