Rovers are in talks to let one of our players go. Very bemused as the player in question is a first team regular and it seems he's being allowed to leave.

I won 't name him as the LT are doing a story on it so will help them maintain their exclusive, am sure Nicko will also be onto the story so name will be out by 11pm and the strange nature of the potential deal.

This is a strange one I need to share. Just sat in car waiting for my youngest son to finish his p/t job listening to talk sport radio. They had a piece on samba where the guest on the programme gave his opinion that Samba was well out of order. Wow, I thought, that's a turn up.

Then, they went to their 'super spy agent' who reveals the current rumours, where they discussed Samba's link to QPR. Spuds and Arsenal.

Then, to my amazement he said that there was a European club who are keeping an eye on another Rovers defender... Adam Henley, the club in question had been impressed with his couple of appearances, the club.............. Real Madrid!!

Sounds like Jeromes doing here .

Its Formica. But not in talks about a return to argentina. Could be heading to Greece.

Hes supposedly home sick and then hes off to Greece sounds like a money laundering scam in play if he goes to Greece.

As name is out, it's Formica. Bemused by this as it's a loan deal, why let a first regular leave on loan?

The only reason I can think of is that we will use the loan fee + wages to bring in a loan player for a different area of the pitch.

I'd swap Formica for an aggressive defensive midfielder for the next 6 months without even thinking about it.

I like the kid but we do have other players who can play in his position (Dunn, Rochina, Vukcevic, Hoilett), whereas we don't really have an aggressive defensive midfielder.

If that's the plan then it's good one in my opinion. I think we'd have a better chance of staying up and, if we did, we could have Formica back in the summer.

I believe Olympiacos want him on a loan with a view to buy. Whether Rovers agree to that or not is another issue. Think we may want a straight sale.

Decent player but wont lose any sleep over whether he goes or not. I would ship him out and bring in AJ and that Paraguay midfielder.

That would be a good idea. Formicas decent but not ideal for a relegation battle. Then take him back in the summer when we can start afresh again.

I would take a Right Back, Caceras and maybe striker.

We've got lowe and henley for right back. I would prioritise a tackling midfielder and a striker. We lack firepiwer without the yak. If theres any money left after that, then i would go for a rb.

Problem is Formica is on lowish wages, so makes no sense to shift him, with the kinda money he is on we can only use that to replace him with another unproven player who will need time to adjust/settle.

The paraguayan and brazilian we've been linked with will also be on low wages. Think they would suit a relegation battle better.

Beatrix, fantastic post. We can talk about funds coming in or not coming in, but the key thing that no one really talks about is the wage bill. I would take a guess that our wage bill is currently over 90% of turnover. We are 1 of very few clubs who would have it at such a high level. As a club we simply can't sustain big player signings, we have to rely on growing youth players and players on the cheap. It's the only way we can be sustainable as a club.

The positive thing is by the end of this window or next season at the latest, Salgado, Roberts and Andrews will all be off the wage bill. Thats quite a hefty amount, if we can replace those 3 with Rochina, Formica style signings that will help reduce the wage bill and improve the quality of our squad :D

If he's not settling in, he's not settling in. He's said he is unhappy. Fair play for continuing to work hard whilst in the team. If he was to go out on loan hopefully he would come back a better player. If not, we need to get a good price for him.

A shame, but we have quite a lot of attacking midfielders at the club.

Taking all of the emotion out of it for a minute. If Venkys really are as skint as they appear then it's vital we sell Andrews, Roberts and Salgado this window. There has been nothing linking them away though.
