January Transfer Window - Part One

Looks like it's going to be a truly pathetic window for Rovers and that's saying something considering we have had some really shocking ones in recent years.

We might have kept Samba and Hoilett but it's clear that neither really wants to remain at the club. Samba in particular might not offer anything between now and the rest of the season. The most likely scenario is he is left to rot in the reserves and Rovers end up selling in the summer for a lot less than they could in January.

Modeste, Olsson and Orr doesn't solve any of the major issues in terms of the squad. The midfield is the reason why we look so pathetic at the back. The players out wide don't provide enough cover to the full-backs and the central midfield provides no protection to the back four as a whole. N'Zonzi is the only central midfielder in the squad and he blows hot and cold in terms of performances.

Rovers were never going to 'buy' themselves out of trouble as the owners have shown so far they don't want to invest big. But you would have thought we would see some money spent and some better players coming in. Now we have to rely solely on the worst manager in the league to get us out of the ######.

It's looking grim indeed :(

Olsson, Orr and Modeste. Disgusting.

The Free, the Cheap and the Borrowed.

Venky's said that they would not allow Rovers to be relegated. However, this was their last opportunity to do something to prevent that happening but, again, what they have done is just not good enough !

All we needed at the very least is one DECENT midfielder or right back.

At his initial moment I only ever see orr being back up for lowe, we could have got away with getting a better right back in on loan or whatever and oushing lowe into midfield or getting a midfielder in and using orr as back up. BAH! :excl:

The panic is hilarious. Chill people.

Get ready to be annoyed at this since there is no more info I can give but from what I have been lead to believe we have nothing to worry about. No superstars in but then nobody was expecting any. NO major sales and incoming transfers not completed. Expect a late squeeze. My information leaves me relaxed but aware there is still a battle ahead.

All will be revealed by tomorrow.

olympiakos set to sign colin kazim richards, hence ending their interest in Formica. good news.

i have a feeling we could get away with keeping samba, hoilett and formica today due to a lack of interest in them from other clubs...

it will give the likes of samba and junior a bit of come uppence.

I think its time to give kean a break he's doing well now and we all noe he's not a lucky manger. He doesn't have funds so there's nothing much he can do

Steve - we don't like you and you are out of your depth.

First time posting...so be gentle with my tender virginity!

The key this Jan was to keep our Key Players: especially from our nearest rivals. (Samba> QPR, Hoillet> Bolton.) To date this has happened- Touch Wood

Yes I was hoping for more in this window - but who honestly believed that we would get players to "hit the ground running" with league experience. We would always be in for players like Orr whom would be considered as experineced of the English game. The names that came to my mind were not so much James Collins (first team PL players) more like Danny Collins/Dean Whitehead (stoke) Garry O'Neil (wham) etc of which could be signed for nominal fees.

My verdict on the signings are mixed. Was Orr the RB I wanted? - No... Will he do a job? - Given our lack of depth at RB he is certainly what we require. Lowe has done exceptionaly well - but at times (e.g Bolton @ Home ) has looked vulnerable. Marcus Olsson if he is like his brother - could be the signing of the transfer window. ( I dont buy the 17 goals in 4 seasons argument - I believe he played predominantley out wide). Modest - dont know a thing about the lad - although he is available for selection for the remainig games of the season unlike Roberts ( Not that i agree with the situation RE his & salgado's contracts)- But FACT.

Its not as bad as I feraed when that window opened on 01 Jan. Given what venkys have shown in terms of commitment what did people expect? Ronaldinho (We have been here before havent we!)

I think you could be wrong about sales, as you say all will be revealed tomorrow!!

But the problem is Kean is the Churchill (ie the nodding dog) of the Management world. He just nods his head, telling us everything will be alright when we can quite clearly see it won't. Time after time he says 'judge me after the next transfer window.' and time after time we are disappointed.

I would be more sympathatic if he wasnt

a) a bad manager

B) an alcoholic who is willing to risk peoples lives getting behind the wheel

c) a complete liar.

He is the type of person to ###### in your glass and tell you its champagne.

Has Junior and his Dad not already said that he will be here after the transfer window.

I don't think he's busting his balls to get away so it's hardly comeuppance. He's probably thinking smaller transfer fee paid - bigger wage in the summer.

Unsure of how to report a post for libel whilst on my phone but surely it isn't wise for this board to let people out rightly say the man is an alcoholic.
