Madness! Has to be a recommendation from Friedel, surely?

Not too bothered as I'd pretty much written him off as a first team player to be honest. It would further condemn this window though - Nelsen, Roberts and Andrews out is a big saving in wages...much bigger than Olsson, Orr and Modeste will be on. To be honest, Nelsen alone will probably cover those three.

Nelsen is an absolute legend and it saddens me if he is set to leave for spurs because it shows he obviously isn't as injured as it has been made out :angry2:

No it doesn't show that, you're guessing that. It's perfectly plausible that he's been injured and is returning to fitness.

He'd only replace Bassong as cover at Spurs, it's not like they'll be chucking him into the first team.

Cryer confirms on twitter that Spurs are in talks about Nelsen.

First thoughts are if he's good enough for Spurs then surely he is still good enough to play for Rovers. Also is this another case of lying about a players status? Like Salgado and Roberts were 'injured' according to Kean?

Why!? Cant see one good thing from this. Wolves getting to improve their defence by us helping spurs out with a new cover CB. Smart business from the thinker and his crew.

It may not be a bad bit of business, especially if we could swindle a swap out of it but if Nelsen really was fit to play and we didn't use him in the recent defensive crisis it really does upset me!

So...is there not a sniff of us working on anything else?

We better be at least trying to put these wages to use and not just dumping people to save money.

Spurs after Ryan Nelsen according to SSN!

EDIT: too late! Shocker though, and dispels the rumours that injuries have finished him. More like he's peed off with Kean, the 3 Pune goons and their incessant bullshit.

Bizarre, but overall actually probably a good deal for us. He's 34, injury prone and probably on a decent wage. Realistically he's also probably our 4th choice CB if Samba stays and is focused enough to play (which we all have to assume that he will be). Strange move for Spurs, but a good way to cut ties for us.

I agree, Eddie, however the one aspect that will grate is that it would enable Spurs to let Bassong go to Wolves. I dont think Bassong is the best defender in the league by any means but he would definitely help Wolves- a club who are on a steep slide and one of a very few relegation rivals to us. Rovers would indirectly be helping them out.

You do realise we are under serious pressure from Barlcays with our finances?

Why the hell would Spurs let Bassong leave and then sign someone who hasn't played for over 6 months. Seems a gamble to me unless, as we suspect, Nelsen hasn't been injured!

WOW!! That is a strange one, he has been struggling but I think he can put in a good performance when needed.

Main problem for me is that he is a legend and he wont have a farewell to the fans, and it would be gut busting for him to thank the fans in a spurs shirt (which he probably will do if given the chance) Because I absolutly hate spurs.!

If they don't get Nelsen then they'll get someone else. They clearly are looking to replace him with a back-up, so that won't be that hard to find, even at this late hour. I'd much rather that we save a big on wages and, fingers crossed (however unlikely it may be), use that extra money to bring in a player.

Nelsen hasn't been much good for a while and there's a good chance that he would never play for us again even if he stayed here, so it's a good way to move him out and free up space.

Nelsen leaving doesn't worry me but the fact that him leaving allows wolves to strengthen is just ridiculous

so it's a good way to move him out and free up space.

Free up space for whom? All them people dying to sign for us?!

True.

I don't expect anyone in. This transfer out is reasonably sensible- as long as we can rebuild the squad in the summer but that will depend on Venkys being out of here.
