We need a midfield enforcer.....that is our main weakness. Our centre midfield is as soft as they come......they dont help out defensively and they hardly put a hard tackle in. :tu::tu:

Not sure he's the right man - but what about Karl Henry at Wolves? Out of favour.....

We need a Tiote!!

i've been saying this for ages now , our fullbacks are constantly exposed and a midfield of Pedersen Nzonzi Formica Hoillet Vuckevic Rochina is like an episode of can't tackle wont tackle

although he's exactly the type we need i'd be disappointed if the best we could attract was Karl Henry though

Get rid of Pedersen for me - he is the most infuriating player I have seen since Keith Andrews. Not sure what has happened to him over the last 3-4 years but he is woeful- his contibution to the games he plays in is sub standard at best. If we could get 2 million for him, I would stick him in a wheelbarrow and push him there.

I have read a long time but not really spoken on here, I think up front we need to play rochina with the yak, he is a striker not a winger and get simon on the wing with olsen then we lack midfield and full backs, need a good ball winner in the middle with zonz who can dictate the pace in midfield and decent full backs that can defend and plug the gaping whole we have at the back

Sell before we buy..?? Wasnt this the reason for why we needed new owners in the first place?

We do need a striker. If Yakubu gets injured we have nothing to come in and even pretend to look handy up front. Full backs and centre mid is a priority but getting someone like Johnson in will at least give us an option up front.

I fully expect Roberts, Salgado, Andrews, Formica, Hoilett and Samba to be gone come the end of January, and I guess it sounds like Nelsen is on his way out too.

Not sure Nzonzi will be sold, I think a lot of talk about him is just in the papers and nothing more. Basically I think Samba and Hoilett will be the players that go for decent money.

Samba will be a huge loss. Givet and Dann could be a decent pairing for the rest of the season but Samba is the main man. Will be a real shame to see him go.

Hmmm - who signed new contracts last January - Salgado, Roberts and Nelsen - first 2 have contractual issues and it has gone quiet on Nelsen and not heard a word from him recently.....

Many have speculated that the new contracts were to 'buy their silence'. Seemed bad business then and even worse now. Hoilett should have been nailed down last Jan. instead, IMO, of trying to underpin Kean's position.

Think you can add Robinson to that list. A pal of mine who watches Everton reckons Andrews signs there tomorrow as Moyes supposedly thinks Andrews can replace Cahill's goals (not netted for over a year).

Wouldn't be sure - I think there will be a last minute sale to satisfy the bank as it will not be good enough for bank to spend what is realised if Venky's don't put in the £10m bank wants.

Samba will be a huge loss. Givet and Dann could be a decent pairing for the rest of the season but Samba is the main man. Will be a real shame to see him go. It's also offensively, Samba has created havoc in last few matches.

Of those - Roberts, Salgado, Andrews and to an extent Formica are no great loss (Formica mainly as we already have numerous players who can play as a second striker).

Hoilett has only 6 months on his contract - I would prefer him to sign a new one - but if he isn't, it would be sensible to sell him now for as much as we can get.

Nelsen - now that Hanley has finally started to get his act together - and given his age - no great loss.

Only one I would be desperately sorry to lose would be Samba - the rest would free up a lot of the wage bill - hopefully to be used for loan signings. We are never going to pursuade quality players to come to us permanently - so would prefer good quality loans that give us the best chance to stay up - but don't saddle us with a big wage bill if we get relegated.

I would be ###### fuming if it were as low as £12 mil for the two.

Interesting that Nicko keeps qouting our financial problems - but was it not also him that said we have obtained additional funding from the middle east ?

I would be equally ****ed off if we sold so cheap - but given how the Venky's managed to get top dollar for Kalanic and Jones - there may be some hope - though if we sold both players there would be no hope anyway  .

"The Canadian, who has impressed in a struggling team on both flanks and scored three Premier League goals, is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he could leave for nothing in the summer." isnt it 3 mill if he runs out of his contract? Since we have had him since he was 13?

Recknap needs to put up or shut the cluck up, 2 years hes been bangin on about wanting samba, cant actually want him that much though, far as im aware hes never made an official bid, samba should just tell him to do one.

I have a sneaky feeling Samba will end up at Man U with Jones, Fergy is missing a rock solid senior defender with vidic out, P Jones looked a real mess against newcastle(hes become really skinny and gaunt looking to me recently).

Nicko is technically correct with that but it doesn't read as it should. He would be a free transfer to a foreign team, but we would be due compensation if he went to another PL side.

Pretty obvious to me that if we ship players out, that it wont free up enough cash to go buy replacements and fund their wages too, at least no one with decent quality and top level experience. If Salgado is going then we need 4 players - RB, central midfield x 2 and 1 striker minimum (2 if Roberts goes too). I dont think we'll be able to bring in the replacements, and wouldnt trust Keans judgement on his transfer picks - Goodwillie, Petrovic and Vuckevic.

Also, those giving credit to Steve Kean for the Yakubu transfer should know the deal was down to the Agent Mrs D brought into Ewood just before the end of the transfer window, Pini Zahavi - Kean had nothing to do with that, or the Slew deals. Have a look at the history regarding Yakubu and Zahavi on the link below. Nothing more than a fluke for Rovers it has turned out so well.
