scotty_beam_me_up Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 With Kean bemoaning injuries and banging on about 10 players out to anyone with a camera or a microphone would it make a difference if everyone was fit and available? What would be your best side and would it keep us up? Mine for what it's worth would be Bunn Henley Samba. Dann Givet Hoillet. Petrovic. Lowe. Olson Rochina Yak And in answer to my own question it's not good enough to keep us up. We are still missing an experienced right back and two centre midfielders regardless of whether everyone is fit. I'm not sure anyone could pick a team which would keep us up. Which makes Keans constant whining about injuries ridiculous.

Hasta Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Robbo Henley Samba Nelson Givet Hoillett Nzonzi Andrews Olsson Rochina Yak From the position we are in, no I don't think it would keep us up. However replace a Jermaine Jones for Andrews, get a right back and put a decent manager in charge and we'd have a chance.
sijoco Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Robinson Lowe Samba Givet Olson Vukcevic Nzonzi Pedersen Hoillet Rochina Yakubu Fully fit or not our central midfield is woeful. And l would play Givet at CB over Dann any day of the week. I think that 11 could keep us up. EDIT: Obviously this is in a world without Kean as manager.
david_daft Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 OK, I'll be the first to say it. As long as Kean is in charge we are going down, regardless of the team he puts out. There, I've said it now.
LeChuck Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 This probably contradicts posts I've made in the past, but I think our best team at the moment is... Robinson Lowe Dann Samba Givet N'Zonzi Hoilett Petrovic Pedersen Olsson Yakubu We desperately need at least one central midfielder in this window because I don't think Petrovic is good enough (yet), but Dunn is too injury-prone to play on a regular basis and Formica (despite plenty of hard work) is not strong enough to play central midfield.
moerpho Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Robinson Dann - Samba - Nelsen - Givet N'Zonzi Hoilett - Rochina - Lowe - Olsson Yakubu Damn...that was hard. Really can't remember the last time I'd struggle to put together a preferred 11. Think Dann could do a better job as right back than the alternatives, and although this is a back four with no pace their experience along with protection from N'Zonzi should stop the goalfest that is every game these days. Putting together a "best" midfield....sigh....Hoilett (of old!) and Olsson needs no comment...central midfield? Went for Lowe and Rochina but could just as well have gone with any of Vukcevic, Gamst, Dunn, Rochina, Lowe, Petrovic and Morris as none of them are good enough. If we had a decent manager that could get the team to function as a unit they could probably put a decent shift in (look at Swansea & Norwich and who they have there!), but as things stand we need both experienced steel and ability to create and pass in the middle of the park. Would this team keep us up? Probably not....no...make that definetly not! All down to Kean and the fact that there really is too few games left to turn this around.
RoyRover Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Robinson Henley Samba Dann Givet Petrovic N'Zonzi Hoilett Rochina Olsson Yakubu If we could get a midfielder like Jermaine Jones into the line up and a new manager, we'd have the potential for a decent side.

I think it's a bit unfair to put those two in there. Lowe has done well this season, and hasn't been given a chance in CM, which has been his position in both the reserves and for England. And Morris hasn't had enough of a chance to comment imo, plaus isn't a central midfielder. Just my opinion.

Rover_Shaun Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 How the hell does Pretovich get anywhere near someting regarded as 'the best'?
BRFCBOY Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Robbo Lowe samba dann Givet Hoilett n zonzi pedersen olsson Rochina Yakubu Seriously need a right back in that side
1Joerover Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 --------------Bunn Henley---Samba---Givet---Olsson ---------N'Zonzi---Lowe Junior------Rochina------Pedersen --------------Yak I like the look of that team, apart from Hoilet infront of Henley. Much rather have Formica there, he may not be as good going forward but he actually tracks back and helps out the fullback. Apart from that its a good team
Majiball Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 4 verses 11??? Well at least we know the A-Team would put up a good defence.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Any team that has Pedersen in the midfield will go down, it's as simple as that. He's far from being the only liability we've got but it's like playing with ten men when he's in the team. With the possible exception of Nzonzi none of our centre midfielders are good enough to be starting in a premier league team Lowe, Dunn, Petrovic, Grella, Andrews, Formica, Rochina, Pedersen, Vucinic- none of them are good enough in that role and how much money is there going down the drain.
LeChuck Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 How the hell does Pretovich get anywhere near someting regarded as 'the best'? Petrovic... I picked him because Dunn can't play 90 minutes, Grella can't play 1 minute, Formica is far too small, Lowe is currently our only selectable player to have played right back for the first team, Andrews will wind fans up even more than they already and the rest (Linganzi etc) are untested. A replacement for him in central midfield should be our first priority, but it's difficult to see who else can play. Henley at right back and Lowe in midfield is an option but I'm worried Henley's inexperience will cost us goals, plus I've never seen Lowe have a decent game in that position.

DavidMailsTightPerm Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I would go :- Robinson Henley Samba Dann Givet Vukcevic Lowe Nzonzi Olsson Hoilett Yakubu If set up correctly - that team would be good enough to stay up. Vukcevic and Olsson would offer far more protection for the full backs - and Lowe would add much needed pace to the midfield. As Hoilett and Olsson like to combine - giving him a free role would enable them to combine without exposing the full backs as Hoilett always does when he plays on the wing.

Amo Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 ROBINSON HENLEY - SAMBA - GIVET - OLSSON NZONZI - LOWE VUKCEVIC - HOILETT - ROCHINA YAKUBU How many of them will be available after January, who knows!? Givet is not a left-back, folks. Dann hasn't done anything to warrant a start. Lowe & Nzonzi are only defensive-minded midfielders we have. Hoilett plays better in the hole.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Regardless of the manager, our first choice XI would struggle to avoid relegation. For what its worth Robbo Lowe Samba Dann Givet Vukcevic Petrovic Nzonzi Olsson Hoilett Yakubu Vukcevic and Olsson are in simply to help Givet and Lowe. I feel Olsson is wasted at left back. Petrovic has looked reasonable over the past couple of games and at least can play in central midfield regularly unlike Pedersen or Dunn.
Stuart Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 It's so sad seeing good, honest Rovers fans typing out their best XI from the current woeful bunch. The point is despairingly moot on so many levels.
