rovers_rob Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I brought this up and was keen for us to put our name to it and help with the statement but it was thought it would look like were hanging on coat tails and if we as a body were going to do something it would be better if it was standalone. I do think the statement is very well written and one I would be proud to put my name to I thought it would have been better for the fans forum to put there names to it if they agreed with it (which I take it you did). You guys went out to Pune and Venkys know who you are. If they knew that the people who they met and won there trust over felt like this as well as everyone else then it would be an even more powerful message. Whether you are a protester, non protester, fans forum member etc... we all need to support this statement.

Kendalrover Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Excellent considered statement that sets the right tone for its intended audience of the media.
Craigman Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Could someone ask MG Road to give a copy to the owners ?
King Kenny's Magic Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Good arrows...ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY!!!!!
Mercer Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Very good piece of work. Think it's time the FF got off the fence. With current owners, IMO, FF's role is redundant as they are virtually toothless. Best splash they could make is by resigning en masse stating how let down they feel following Pune visit.
Bluemonday BRFC Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 First of all well-done, good piece of work, highlighting the broader off the pitch crisis as well. However, it does seem to focus intensely on Steve Kean, and though there is no doubt he has to go, it seems to be a step backwards rather than forwards; covering old ground. The entire footballing community and media are aware of our unanimous position in relation to Steve kean. No doubt Venky's are too. But, this seems like just another get Kean out and we'll be fine argument, with less emphasis placed on Venky's. I do feel the statement should have put pressure on our 'beloved' owners by issuing an ultimatum, in saying if the demands we require aren't met, then the only option will be a campaign to remove Venky's as owners of BRFC. Maybe, Its just my long hatred for these Chicken Farmers that has caused me to question the statement, but people keep saying "enough is enough" but nothing ever happens to verify it, in relation to bombarding them as owners.
heysham rover Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 An excellent statement, well done to all involved. Encapsulates all the major concerns of various groups of Rovers fans.
BangkokRover Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 who is it being sent to? No one just posted on boards
david_daft Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 All the bad media attention started after the Bolton game. This wasn't an orchesrated protest. This was an organic protest, by fans who have watched a well run, well respected, established Premier League club dismantled before their eyes, in less than 12 months. What are we supposed to do? The media who have slated us for this have not really done much research on the story, it's merely a knee jerk reaction to a few minutes of footage seen on TV. It's shoddy, lazy journalism at best, or an orchestrted campaign at worst. I don't remember any other club receiving anything like the level of critisism Rovers fans have received. Is it too late to address these points? This has been making me almost as angry as Venkys / Kean lately

With current owners, IMO, FF's role is redundant as they are virtually toothless. Best splash they could make is by resigning en masse stating how let down they feel following Pune visit. Why must be time for them to get a free holiday to witness the first game by a Championship Team in India?
Bluemonday BRFC Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 No one just posted on boards Just tweeted it to Robbie Savage, Mike Hall Granada Reports, Andy Cryer LET, and Sports Tonight TV... hopefully some might pass it on, I asked for a RT.

perthblue02 Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 A lot of tweeting of the statement and seems in the main a good reaction to it, only found one pathetic blinkered comment so far - @SoccerLimey SoccerLimey @bbc606 #BRFC Amazing to see how this fickle lot miss the point. Could be the owners at fault but current atmosphere at club anti-change.
daveoftherovers Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Just tweeted it to Robbie Savage, Mike Hall Granada Reports, Andy Cryer LET, and Sports Tonight TV... hopefully some might pass it on, I asked for a RT. footypix Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 A "Statement of Unity" might have been a better title rather than 'UNITED', other than that...Spot On.

daveoftherovers Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 A "Statement of Unity" might have been a better title rather than 'UNITED', other than that...Spot On. Footy, you've missed the point of social media and search engines, the fact that "United" is in the text means it will be get more attention and hits than if it didn't, don't know if designed that way or not, but it works, I assure you
Al Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 The 'Unity' would have been helped had the FF endorsed it. Very diappointed to see you sitting on the fence lads.
King Kenny's Magic Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Just sent the statement to three shows on Talkshite. Drive Time,Keys and Gray and Medicine Ballhead and 3 caps Biriyani(Sports Breakfast). Can anyone tweet it to TheBigSam on twitter and get him to retweet it. It'll get a comical response and alot of coverage as I'm sure loads of people read his hilarious tweets. Also hopefully with the contacts that the likes of Glen,Kamy,Wen et al have plus us lot doing our bit,we could realy get a postive result!!

I don't think tweets or the truth are as important to those pundits at SEM oops Sky broadcasting as their agency fees

ScaryGuy Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Excellent statement, hopefully it will educate a few people who have been quick to criticise the fans without knowing any of the facts. Really pleased to see Kean’s record included, I think some people don’t realise how bad it is.
