You are just one of many - where the enthusiasm is being slowly sucked away by the current regime.

Normally on match day - even just listening on the radio - I used to get nervous - the weekend being made or ruined by our performance. Now I greet each defeat with an air of resignation. I still cling to the hope that the owners will come riding in on white chargers with Mark Hughes and a reasonable transfer kitty in tow - but then again I do the lottery each week - the odds are probably the same.

The lottery odds are far better

I spoke to a mutual schoolfriend of ours recently who had recently bumped into Mr Coar. I got the impression that our ex-Chairman, being as you say the only remaining link with the old regime, must feel he can do more good by being seen by Venky's to be inside the tent peeing out. I think I agree with him. It would be easy to come out and denounce Venky's in the press; much harder to try and work with them and influence them day in day out.

Spent about 2 hours chatting to Bob and a couple of others at a house party between Christmas and the New Year. He was open and forthright enough but didn't tell me anything that is not widely known and hasn't either been openly discussed or done to death on here.

Haha, sums my matchday experience, what I hope for and the odds of it happening, down to a tee.

Thanks Colin for finding that. Thanks to you as well m1st for your post on the Darlo board. Top stuff.

Lovely that theno. Very defeatist.

I'd be immensely happy to be playing Darlington today in the Conference, so long as we both had a club we could believe in, people in charge who we could trust, honesty, no bullshit, players trying their best for the shirt, (if only to be spotted by a bigger club).

Why can't any club just live to it's means? Oh to win at Old Trafford eh? Thats the ultimate dream surely? Well we've just done that and frankly I don't give a toss because of the people who are in charge at Rovers. That's quite something that Kean / Venkys, you should be very proud. But hey that's just me isn't it?

Sure it's not the Premier League but so bloody what? Oh to be patronised by Lineker or Hansen or 'Newcastle's Alan Shearer' every week. Stelling or Merson, utterly clueless as to what's happening at Ewood. Nicholas, SEM. Nixon and his questionable loyalties.

May the end come soon, don't kill us slowly. Get out of our club.

Like a Spartans spear through the heart. But I agree with every word of that.

I cant even pick up a newspaper and read about Rovers these days, never mind go to a game.

In many ways I feel I have already lost my club.....

This sums it all up. Resigned laughter. As gumboots said, there was a time when a win away at Old Trafford would have been the biggest day of the year. Instead, I suspect most of us just laughed and said to ourselves "heh heh.. we'll probably get beaten by Stoke next week though"... And of course, we were.

The heart and soul has gone. I remember sitting in the Nuttall St stand as a kid watching us beat Grimsby, Shrewsbury and Sheffield United (and lose to Man City from a Steve Kinsey screamer), during the 84-85 season. We were top of the division at Xmas, but failed to win promotion to division 1 by the skin of our teeth at the end of the season. It was so so different then. You could feel the heart and passion of the fans. Every result was an edge of the seat moment. At school, the tiniest details were dissected. I miss that passion. I cried when we moved to Australia next year and I knew I would probably never get to go to Ewood again. But the tension every week as I listened to the radio or waited for the results to be published was thrilling. Win or lose. But now... Meh ! It would be nice to 'care' again. I sincerely hope that new management makes that happen sooner rather than later.

Brilliant letter but I feel it was always going to be a waste of time. Steve Kean appears to be 'media friendly' and so the media are just protecting a source of news. Look at his relationship with Talksport for example (one station that has been criticising our fans), he's on the end of the phone whenever they want to interview him and hence they treat him good in return.

They do the same with Tottenham, they're forever slagging off Arsene Wenger (who has never appeared live on their station) whereas Harry Redknapp can't do a thing wrong (because they have him on speedial and he pops up at least once a week for a 'chat').

Pedro - that statement then contradicts the fact you are still one of the few to have voted to give Kean more time. It's not too late to change your vote ;)

And the mst painful kick I've received in the danglers is the fact that Mark Hughes is talking to QPR, who have taken decisive action whilst change can be delivered.

Really really bloody annoys me!

Brought me closer to tears than anything in this sad sorry mess so far.

Old man Rao might have got him in if he had still been alive. He was a self made man like Tony Fernandez and like Jack Walker too. Those types just don't let the grass grow under their feet as a rule. The fruits of their loins are rarely made of the same stuff and the fact that Rao snr has by passed his sons in favour of his daughter speaks volumes about them.

There was not a cat in hells chance of Mark coming to Rovers with these bloody Indians (Cowboys) in charge.

The fact it has taken nearly a year to build his fabulous new house in London and his desire to manage there was also maybe a reason ??

The only consolation to me for not getting Sparky back is that he seemed to have no regard for the youth set-up.

Any new manager needs to continue the development of youth players.

I know he wouldn't have come but it was more that we should have been able to look for someone of that calibre and instead we are stuck with Kean because of what Venkys/Anderson/Kean or whoever have done to our club. the thought of Mark Hughes going to qpr just got to me for a moment, that's all.

If he doe go to QPR, that's them out of the relegation scenario. It means there will be only 4 clubs trying to avoid the drop: Wigan,Bolton, ourselves and Wolves. And we're bottom!

An excellent point you´ve made there.

I remember the days and im only 32 by the way, when english football was shown once a week here in denmark and this was every saturday, or almost every saturday. You wouldnt miss the game, even if the teams were irrelevant.

sadly and slowly my passion began to fade, as the the tv deals got bigger, all of a sudden football was shown everywhere and constantly. The european competitions was jammed down the throat and money became the absolute most important thing in football. The retarted concept of agents appeared, doing their best to drain the the game, yet another blow to my passion. The next step was foreign ownership, owners wanting to show of their wealth and get in the limelight. Imo an english football club should be run by englishmen, not some rich idiot from the states or a bunch of buffons from india. All this has contributed to making our game less competetive and quite frankly somewhat boring/predictable.

come to think of it, its a bit like christmas. Christmas has been commercialized to the same extreme as football and that has, imo, removed the whole point of it or atleast some of it.

Venky´s ownership is a symptom of the disease, that has hit our beloved sport.

And of course by buying Samba they get 2 for 1. Their defence gets strengthened and their relegation rivals -that would be us - get considerably weakened. Bit like when we bought Shearer, Duncan Shearer to nip Swindon in the bud. That of course was a promotion not relegation tussle, but losing Samba to a relegation rival would be a severe blow. Lets ope Arry needs him more.

Have you been reading the Warnock thread? ;)
