[Archived] Venky's willing to sell?

Here's what Kamy actually said

It certainly didn’t involve “low level people”, it’s hard to say anymore but they are closing in on Villa (even Villa players are now talking about a Qatari takeover) they will talk about Rovers once that is done.

The thing I don't follow is at the time they were allegedly offering to buy Rovers, we were told if you don't snatch their arms off immediately, they move on. So how come they have spent 3 months working on trying to buy Villa and not moved on?

The Qatari's specifically wanted to buy us quickly because they could see how much danger we where in. They wanted to discuss with their manager transfer targets and the such, to make sure we would stay up. The offer (a very generous one, so I have been told) was a once and once only opportunity, and this was explained.

That problem isn't a problem at Villa, they'll be no worse off at the end of this season than in January.

We're going round in circles though? We've said all that.

Your explanation may be right but thats not what Kamy said, I just want him to clear it up.

See gumboots quote, seems clear enough to me, or are you after another answer?

I recall this post as kamy was replying to my post to him. I had been given daft information that Qatar only spoke to low level people at venkys. When in truth they went to the top.

Have spent almost the last two days in Glasgow and to be honest, with what's going on at Rangers and the issues at Rovers, I've almost fallen out with football.

It's all accentuated a bad taste in my mouth and reinforced a view that money is ruining, or has ruined, our game.

Have decided that until sanity returns to our game and good, old fashioned principles are adhered to, then I'm finished with it.

Bye, then...

How frustrating it is now as it was back in the autumn the Raos are clowns of the highest order

Ok i'll clear this up once and for all.

The Qatari's are talking to Villa, even their players know about it. The last I heard was that Lerner is contemplating selling but would rather wait until the end of the season before deciding. The Qatari's are willing to wait as they believe that they can get Villa. Once they have completed the Villa deal, they have promised me and a couple of other Journo's that they will talk on the record about what happened with Venky's.

Thanks Kamy. I look forward to that though with a great deal of sadness. To think we could have been shot of them already and planning for a new future. It really does hurt.

Itv big match is on Itv4 right now, showed City v Spurs from 1983. Those short shorts...but proper football.

I enjoy watching the old games on Fox Soccer over here, they have archive games. My girlfriend who is new to the game but loving it can tell the difference in the physical aspect and the players, how they just go about playing the game, no rolling around not much diving and cheating, footy has really slipped in many aspects of why I used to love it. I still do but I am also a bit curious as to how I will enjoy the championship next season it does seem more of a throwback league.

Could not find another appropriate thread to post this so have stuck it here I emailed Paul Hunt some time back before the January Window opened and got an email reply from him it is below as you can see he did not really do much to address my concerns:

Savio,

Thank you for your email. Apologies for the delay in responding but it is an unbelievably busy time at present and I am trying to respond to as many supporter emails as possible. Therefore, I cannot be as full in my reply but I will try and give you some answers.

· The owners are investing in the club both in the UK and India on an ongoing basis.

· Money will be and is being made available for the January transfer window.

· I cannot comment on individuals beyond what has been released into the press as this may compromise us in the window.

We are all disappointed with the current position. Hopefully, with 7 points from a possible 12 now, some returning injured players and a couple of additions this window, we can start to climb the table.

This is a special football club and alongside the other board members I am trying desperately hard to progress the club.

Best wishes,

Paul

F.A.O. Paul Hunt

Dear Mr Hunt,

I found this email from the customer charter on the rovers website & it stated this was the secretary to Paul Hunt Deputy CEO I also appreciate this might be a tricky subject but from nearly every fan I speak to the above is scareing the hell out of fans myself included. We hear one minute in the press of financial difficulties with Barclays then we hear that's not true from Steve Kean then one minute we hear he knows who his targets are and what his budget is the next he is unclear about the budget now I know figures can't be given out but the board need to appreciate the fans need to know the owners are doing all they can to bring in the players needed to help Blackburn Rovers stay in the premier league. Now I have read Kean wants 4 players a Striker,Midfielder & 2 defenders so how far down the line are we with these?. I know Kean stated he wanted to do his business early and have something done by the Fulham game are they still on course to do this?. I know 2 players will be permanent deals and 2 loans so are the club hopeful they will arrive before the end of January because mark me words as Andy Cryer stated before the Man Utd game on ESPN the 3-2 win without investment now the club are as good as relegated thus creating massive financial problems as fans all we ask of the owners is to be clear and transparent and keep fans re-assured that everything is being done behind the scenes to improve the team. I also read Steve Kean is doing all he can to bring in a new assistant manager and was looking to appoint someone in the early part of this week are we any closer to knowing who this might be?. A word of advice bringing in someone like Tugay a former player and well respected man would be a massive step in the right direction and it would re-assure the fans theo owners have the best interests of the club at heart.

I look forward to your response

Best Wishes

Savio

How can he talk about compromising the January window in February?!

If ever there was a standard text reply to an email that is it.

Clearly not taking the fans seriously.

Mr Hunt - changing the name of the recipient is not enough! You might as well start you emails "Dear Supporter".

If Savio received that reply in February then that's an embarrassment, and you are right, it displays a total lack of respect for supporters.

Amazing, but not surprising.

I think it has already been correctly said here somewhere that Venkys' business relies heavily on commodities, and when these prices rise, so do their costs, and their bottom line will suffer. Since commodities prices had shot up during the reporting period here, this was not an unexpected result. So they experienced growth, but less profit...I am sure they would see it as more fiscally responsible to spend an extra million on chicken feed than put that money towards paying off Rovers' debt, especially to drive continued growth, which will see them increase profit that much more when commodity prices settle back down, whereas they don't see that kind of direct correlation when spending the same money on Rovers, funnily enough...and when I say that, I am referring to their seemingly short-sighted behavior in their dealings with the Club...I'm sure their shareholders are satisfied with those quarterly numbers because they are aware of what commodity prices have been doing, and are happy to see continued growth despite this. It would have been nice if the Rao's would have been able to show the supporters of the Club the same kind of commitment to long-term growth. Actually says a lot about what they think of the Club. This is evidence that contrary to what a lot of people have been saying, myself included, that they were supposedly running Rovers in the same way as they do their other concerns, they really aren't. They appear to be running it without the same long-term ongoing development in mind as they do their main businesses.

So to sum up:

They seemingly still don't care about Rovers.

Their apparent mismanagement of our club, and associated publicity, is not hurting them in the slightest.

Happy days.

The commodity prices have been better for them since December. But the results are just a reflection of bad world markets. But not bad management. They still made a profit in a bad market.

Sadly their management of rovers is just bad. They have been ruthless in their cost cutting at the club.

is this the Wayne Wild/BRAG group or possible other Consortium with rovers fans with Business links looking to buy the club???

I think it is different. But was a local group. Venkys said they were not selling.

They also said the economic situation was just rumours.

is this the Wayne Wild/BRAG group or possible other Consortium with rovers fans with Business links looking to buy the club???

I think it is related to the one nicko mentioned recently on twitter. Could be wrong though.

That Venkatesh interview perfectly illustrates the problem we're faced with. He talks with, dare i say it, an authority when discussing the other family business concerns. Then right at the very end, the interviewer brings up the small matter of Rovers and the twenty something million debt figure and what is the response? The usual guff. Venky's haven't got a clue about football and consequently they work on the basis of blind faith. It is a lost cause. They clearly know their onions when it comes to chicken farming, quoting growth trends, raw material costs etc... But ask them to talk about Rovers and they start using words like 'motivation' and worst of all 'luck'. FFS, get your bloody act together! You lot don't seem to have learnt anything over the last 12 months +.
