I get too wound up with all the misery so I tend to lurk, not that I've ever been that active here. I'm expecting quite a few posts doing everything bar for giving the team credit for a great win so thought I'd stick my thoughts in early.

Not quite sure what your mixed metaphor is getting at but this win has got us out of the relegation zone. A cause for celebration in my book.

Certainly no reason to rest on our laurels and I'll agree with "more please".

Most people on here give the team credit for good results when it's due - check the Man Utd game thread for proof of that.

The person who tends not to get any credit is Kean, and for good reason. We usually win in spite of him rather than because of him.

He might deserve a little credit today, though. Goodwillie coming on played very well, our shape was generally good for most of the match and we seemed to adapt well to being a man down. The Formica sub also worked.

The question is: will we build on this? Past history suggests we won't. Kean needs at least two or three wins on the bounce before he starts getting any of the plaudits. We're still a long way from safety, but today was a good day, no doubt.

Btw, we need to have planned protests before every game from now on... we always seem to win when the fans protest

Great win and a great performance. The difference today is that we didn't play hoof ball out of defence when winning. WE KEPT POSSESSION! Now I'm going to credit Steve Kean for that (I think) until proven otherwise. If we play that way every week I think we'll survive. I'd let Samba go and bring in some more backup.

I think the point is that most other teams won't let us play that way. MOst will press us like Stoke.

THere is definitely a theme developing of us playing well against teams that give us space - Liverpool, Fulham, Man Utd, Swansea, Arsenal - but really struggle against physical harassing sides.

We have Everton next away, they will play high tempo and really close us down. That's going to be a real litmus test to see if we have turned the corner.

edit- before anyone has a go I am delighted about the result, thought we played magnificently, and Kean deserves credit for the spirit and the attacking intent we showed. However we do need to acknowledge the opposition is not going to stand off like that every week and let our technically good players pass the ball around.

I'm no member of "Team Kean", but the team did seem to be up for the fight today. There appears to be some unity in the side (bar those who've handed in transfer requests).

Also, I'm pretty sure I saw Hoilett defending today! Junior's approach, in general, was a little more team-oriented today; more of a "pass first", or "pass when it makes sense to pass" approach.

Ahem...you were saying?

We need MGP's set pieces if we're to have any chance of getting out of this mess. A bit "pathetic" that you feel the need to pick him out for abuse when you're not even at the game to see how he's doing!

I'm guessing within the team we have another player who earns a small fortune for playing football can hit the target with a ball, He's a ruddy nightmare, I lost count again how much possession was lost due to our dead ball specialist

By the way, I've seen every kick of Rovers games since Norwich away

Last 4 games = 2 wins, 1 draw and a loss... could we just could we...........

Everything was against us today... Samba not playing, red card...

Amazing result well done all

Seven points from four games. Don't think anyone would have thought that. Thought we were dead n buried after Bolton game.

Yup! This troll attended his first game in 1971 at the age of 8 and since then has attended every game that his active service with her majesties forces over 22 years has allowed. Didn't you predict a 2-1 loss? At least I aint a fair weather fan! :wstu:

I don't care when you first attended your game and I certainly couldn't give a toss about your time in the services <_< , it isn't a my dick's bigger than yours competition.

I was making a joke about the fact that we've gone 1 down and the opposition have come back to score 2 recently, then you question whether I'm a Rovers fan based on that, imo that is trolling.

Your next 3 posts are having a go at people who are still pessimistic about the situation at the club which you obviously seem to be fine with (where have you been for the past year?)

I think you need to leave 'Sunny Cyprus' and come back to East Lancs for a while because all that sunshine is clearly going to your head.

FANtastic what a good pre match protest can do!!!

This victory surely has to go to all those supporters who camped out over night in freeing conditions that dropped below minus three degrees and turned up to cheer the team on. Well done to you all.

Kean/Anderson and Venkys out !

BRILLIANT! Credit to Kean and the lads. No samba Yakubu off the odds were against us. but in the second half even 2 - 0 up we ddint just play deep we attacked and it paid off, when that formica wonder goal went it I lost it!! HAPPY!

Goodwillie looked good today, could take yaks place for a while now he has to keep it up if picked for the next games.

chris who? (saying that he could just be injured...you never know)

Not sure I will go overboard with credit for Kean but can't fault him either. Tactics were fine, lost a bit of shape when they scored but his infamous terrible defensive subs when we take a lead in the second half were nowhere to be found. Probably the win I am most pleased with this year, Old Trafford aside.

Don't talk stupid,

what spoiled it was the tit malk putting a negative on a good win and taking us out of the drop zone

Think what you want, I'm over the moon with the win and am optimistic to a fault about the club. Over the past 8 games we've had four shockers (Sunderland, West Brom, Bolton and Stoke) and four very credible results (Swansea, Liverpool, United and Fulham). It's not brilliant but it's a platform to kick on from.
