Darwen Rover Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Ps happy with the result and performance; seen a resilience in the team since the Bolton game...was v impressed with some of our passing today too

super_arran Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I could hear our fans all the way through Come on Liverpool 2:1 now Everton hardly sang even when they scored. Rovers fans never stopped singing. There were about 12 renditions of "king kenny's hat" in a row at one point haha
des Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 watched the game, while i am not a great fan of kean. however to be fair we played well over the last few games, if we keep this up we will not go down
moerpho Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 On Dann: Have to agree with what most have said on here....was excited when he was signed...now not so much. On todays display Givet is twice the player Dann is and easily our best central defender with Samba out (for reasons unknown). Rather see a pairing of Hanley and Givet in the middle as I feel those two compliment each other when it comes to strenght, positioning, and aerial ability. Also thought it harsh to put Modeste out there today and leave Rochina on the bench - bad decition by Kean. It was obvious for all to see that our technical players - i.e. Hoilett & Olsson - caused them all sorts of problems. This would've been the perfect game for Rochina to get a 20 min stint up top to prove what he can do. But as always hindsight is 20/20 (yup....looking directly at you, Walkers Trust!!!). Drunk of my feet and way to happy about 1 point! Just shows what we have become these days....
Amo Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Well-earned point but can't help but feel Everton were there for the taking.
rubecula Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 As an Everton fan may I just point out Blackburn richly deserved that point today. and perhaps a bit more. Of course I wanted an Everton win, but as already pointed out, we were there for the taking. Taking nothing away from your guys, we were pathetic. (And your lads were better)
NeRvOuS Wr3Ck Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 3 1 to bolton now thanks a bunch Liverpool you could have done us a favor
Mercer Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Know where you are coming from but it boils down to what you do - keep your destiny in your own hands.
thenodrog Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 good performance. Deserved 6 points from our 2 outings with Everton and only got 1. still I am much more confident in our team's ability to stay up, than 2 weeks before Indeed. Notwithstanding the fact that we incredibly spewed 2 penalties and taking into account the worst penalty decision that I can readily recall from Lee Mason gifted all 3 points to Everton in August and the very harsh sending off of Yakuba and the non appearence of our first choice centre half today could quite easily have cost us all 3 today. I'm in little doubt that the Yak would have been well fired up for this one. Fair play to the team and listening to Graeme Sharp on city radio it sounds like we put on a good performance today and deserved more than we got. Unfortunately it looks like Notlob are going to spoil it.... or should I say looks like Liverpool are going to spoil it!
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Doesnt suprise me Birmingham got relegated relying on him. It was the injury to Dann midway through the season that many observers said was the reason Birmingham got relegated - rather than the other way around !
thenodrog Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I can't work it out either. By centre half standards, he's not particularly big, he's not that dominant in the air, he's not particularly quick. He's reasonable at most things but I'm struggling to find an asset that separates him from hundreds of other centre backs. He's probably got an agent who is obviously willing to scratch the backs of Dastardly and Muttley.
hesfromburn Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 It was the injury to Dann midway through the season that many observers said was the reason Birmingham got relegated - rather than the other way around ! But I said while here he has either been injured or just looked shakey and makes me nervous everytime he is near the ball. And has dont nothing to help are battle against relegation. I had never heard of him until he was linked apparently with big clubs intrested in him but I cant see why they wanted him, but I can see why I had never heard of him he has been a non entity
OhmiBRFC Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 The only song I remember hearing was the Givet one, apart from that nothing. Rovers were non-stop for pretty much 90 minutes.
chaddyrovers Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Rovers performance were excellent today. Thought every player that started played very well. Dann and Givet look a good partnership. Thought defensive we look very good and organise. We pass the ball well and keep ball well. Thought Petrovic and Nzonzi look a good partnership in Central Midfield. Nzonzi and Hoilett were both rovers best player on the day. Well deserve point and maybe disspointed to ONLY get a ball.
bigbrandjohn Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Dunn played his heart out. He may not be the fittest but he was unlucky and caused all sorts of problems.
arbitro Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I thought we were really good today and defensively we looked excellent. That elusive clean sheet can only be a matter of time if we defend like we did today. I wrote on here last week that the big difference between now and a few weeks ago is that we are playing counter attack football, a game which suits several of our key players. Today we were more like the home team for long periods as we controlled the tempo and pattern of the the game. Confidence if vital and there have been signs in the last few weeks that the players have belief. That augers well for the next few months. And the fans were excellent today, as good as I've heard them for a long time. Well done to all concerned with Rovers today.
neophox Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Good point but should had been three... we need to pick up points and need a win against Newcastle at home. The positive thing is that its a long break to next game and we will have a fully fit squad except from Yakubu. Modeste needs to train with his teammates. It should had been Rochina on today or Vukcevic...what happened to Vukcevic? But there seem to be competition for places and Petrovic is starting to deliver. I thougt Formica looked bleak today coming on for Dunn, Rochina or Vukcevic should ha been better against a physical side. We seem to have alot of options now and we have to keep on picking up points. Get three points against Newcastle and then a good point against Arsenal. No one stood out, a good team performerance today. Hoilett needs to play better if he wants to join a big club. Go Rovers!
47er Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Dunn played his heart out. He may not be the fittest but he was unlucky and caused all sorts of problems. Well done the "fat boy"!
Backroom Tom Posted January 21, 2012 Backroom Posted January 21, 2012 Dunn played his heart out. He may not be the fittest but he was unlucky and caused all sorts of problems. Problem being one of the problems he caused was playing them inside for their goal, sloppy
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Very happy with the performance today and cracking day out. Support was excellent as well, any issue with hearing us was only down to lack of numbers rather than lack of effort. The 1,000-1,500 that turned up sang from start to finish. Proud to be a Rover!
Devon Rover Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I thought this one was likely to be a draw so I'm happy with the result and what sounds like a decent performance. But failure to win two games in a row or to keep a clean sheet again really will hurt us if it doesn't change. Goodwillie should not be a lone striker. Feel sorry for him to be honest. Shame the Yak was unavailable, could have given us that extra edge to turn 1 point into 3. Think we'll beat Newcastle. Well done today Rovers, we still have hope!

Proud to be a Rover! haha you could hear our fans all through the game on tv it was excellent! Everton were stupidly quiet, could just hear rovers fans chanting. If thre was 1,00-1,500 Rovers fans by law of sound Everton must had only 4 fans AT THEIR OWN GROUND... "YOUR SUPPORT IS...."

If the supporters don't get behind the TEAM for the Newcastle game it will be game over.
Backroom Tom Posted January 21, 2012 Backroom Posted January 21, 2012 Handball? Yes clearly but if Robbo plays to the whistle he may have got to it
