I can't work it out either. By centre half standards, he's not particularly big, he's not that dominant in the air, he's not particularly quick. He's reasonable at most things but I'm struggling to find an asset that separates him from hundreds of other centre backs.

Having watched Villa and Wolves to day too I would say Collins looks streets ahead of Dann in just about every aspect of the game. I've seen a few other games where I thought Collins looked like a good solid reliable defender. I would have no problem based on what I've seen with Dann going to Villa and Collins coming this way, more so if it is plus cash

Everton ------------- Blackburn

347 Total Passes 419

not bad for hoofball Blackburn

not quite at the level of Swansea though, 676 passes

According to BBC Swansea had 65% of the posession v Sland. Brendan Rogers must be putting himself in the frame to take over at Arsenal!

I liked what i saw of modeste ..... Kean should play him with another striker like yak or goodwillie ....

we really should play ...

Robinson

Lowe -- Samba/Givet-- Hanley/Dann -- Givet/Ollsen

Nzonzi-Dunn/Formica-Petrovic

Modeste - yak - hoilett

we would struggle like hell with a 3 man midfield

Handball? Yes clearly but if Robbo plays to the whistle he may have got to it

Just watched their goal again and whilst it was handball and whilst Dunny had ridiculously gone to sleep on the line just wtf was Robinson doing simply ball watching? That lofted cross was his to punch out all day long! Amateurish mistakes by two experienced senior pro's who must know better. :angry2:

Even more amateurish is the lack of tactical nous of our manager. I and many others have put our malaise down to a midfield full of ballerina's since the first day of the season. Yesterday though I think we can lay much of the credit on outplaying Everton on having two players with plenty of bite patrolling the deep centre of midfield. Such a line up hampers the opposition midfield by denying them time and space to probe away at our back 4 whilst allowing the more creative players like Hoilett and Dunne to push forward in support of the striker.

We saw how effective this was towards the end of last season with N'Zonzi and Jermaine Jones patrolling midfield together and freeing up Hoilett and Olsson so the solution to the ludicrous situation all season to date of us having to score 3 or more to win was surely obvious to all. So the question must be asked why tf did Steve Kean refuse to address this issue earlier? <_<

Any hope we now have must be down to getting a third man in. Grella fit and on the bench would suffice even cos the way they play those the two will pick up plenty of bookings and suspensions. The notion of either (but especially) Petrovic carrying a first half booking through to FT and not getting a red is very real imo. If Grella is history then we must get one in. The likes of Mark Atkins / Nicky Marker / Sid Cowans would not be expensive and if samba is away then defending further up the pitch becomes even more of a priority.

Exactly. I couldn't even be bothered commenting Ace. I think miqaayil still has L plates on. Unfortunately he must be classmates with our manager.

Ah--so that's our problem? We don't have any others then?

On the pitch at home this is our biggest problem.

If you can't see that presently then your disillusioned in protesting for the sake of protesting. Look how the team played when we went 3-1 up against Fulham and the fans got behind the team. Football teams need confidence. Check out Dunny's interview.

You mean like our home support has been.......

There lines our problem. If the supporters don't get behind the TEAM for the Newcastle game it will be game over.

Fans have only truly faltered in a few games to be fair, and in those games it was because we were so terrible. The problem has lay with the bad performances first.

As I've said there's no chicken and egg situation here (pardon the obvious reference). Kean was a terrible manager and brought terrible performances/results before crowd got on his back.

I agree not defending Kean in the slightest. But at present when you consider our supporters were louder than the Evertonians yesterday and we played well, it installs a spirit and confidence in you. As the protests are now being aimed at the venky's surely there are no need for any protests within the ground full stop. The team has shown that if we get behind them they play well.

After going on the first march froom th'avvy before the Arsenal match I said on here that the protests should not be toward the manager but more in the diorection of the owners (and the Fat Controller). Gradually they have so there is no need for them to stop now.

Although Olsson did a decent job at LB yesterday... He's wasted there. While Yak is suspended I'd like to see Hoillett up top with someone.

That would mean playing 442 though....

Remember that Keano?

I trust you mean 4-5-1 with Hoilett in the hole. Kean learned last spring that 4-4-2 is for fools.

Arsenal? Swansea? Kean saying the protests don't affect the players etc etc?

Nobody protests for the sake of it by the way. The objectives haven't been achieved yet but the alternative is too awful to contemplate.

No need to organise them though as we're back in the bottom three. Kean will take care of that side of it.

I feel a three man midfield can do the job ..... with proper tracking back of the 2 support strikers ... but each with his own opinion. <_<

To be fair its not just miqaayil, a sizeable percentage of our support start chanting for it in any game that we go behind. Happened yesterday as well. Its totally ridiculous in my opinion, we already score enough goals, Hoilett and Dunn play as midfielders/strikers so its actually 4-5-1/4-3-3 that we play, and 4-4-2 is quickly becoming an outdated and ineffective system anyway as the game adapts. I can only assume a deficiency in football knowledge that leads some fans to think its a sort of magic bullet that solves everything.
