HemelRover Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 we dont, spoke to glen on saturday and he confirmed to me that venkys are skint. That's it then. Glen has spoken.
joey_big_nose Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Looks in physique the right sort of player. Big, mobile. But then that doesn't really tell us much I suppose. Hopefully he is going to be a lot more ready than Slew.
Rovers_Dan Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 my french pal said he clods about the field worse than herold goulon. i hope hes taking the mick.
Parsonblue Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 That's it then. Glen has spoken. I don't think you need to take anybody's word about Venkys and money. You just have to look at the way the club is being run to know that money is not exactly overflowing. The fact that Modeste has not started a game since October, as reported in LT, suggests he might take some time to get up to speed. So much for the rubbish that Kean was spouting about having players arrive early in the window and being ready for the Premier League from day one. More Venky fairy tales.
sharpysharps Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I reluctantly feel sorry for Kean this transfer window because Venky's are clearly putting a stop to any transfers that could be half decent.
braddock Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 T4E - think you are missing the point. We are supposed to be in a brave new world when we "no longer have to sell our best players" and can "enjoy competitive budgets". Absolute shyte, IMO - owing to gross mismanagement, I don't think we have a pot to p1ss in and it's virtually 'beg, steal or borrow' (words from an old New Seekers' song). You mean we are in the same position as we were before the takeover with regards to finances? We've lost some key staff admittedly, but it could be a lot worse. I'd be more scared of who they would sell us to since they would likely have have zero interest in anything aside from the right price for them, especially given the relationship that has developed between the fans and the owners. That's it then. Glen has spoken. Is he a national hero yet? Or is it still local?
Amo Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 You mean we are in the same position as we were before the takeover with regards to finances? We're really not. Do your homework.
HemelRover Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Is he a national hero yet? Or is it still local? Global superstardom calls......
budha Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 LET also running a story saying we're close.. BLACKBURN Rovers are confident of completing a loan move for Bordeaux striker Anthony Modeste by the end of the week – after deciding not to appeal against Yakubu’s red card against Fulham.Rovers had representatives in France over the weekend and are eager to make Modeste their first signing of the January transfer window by tying up a deal for the 23-year-old ahead of Saturday’s trip to Everton. Modeste was an unused substitute in Saturday’s home win over Valenciennes, when Rovers observers were watching on from the stand. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/9475101.Blackburn_Rovers_close_to_Modeste_deal/
BRFC95 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Is he a national hero yet? Or is it still local? Global superstardom calls...... Jealousy isn't good
yeti-dog Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Jealousy isn't good More gentle ribbing than jealousy I think...
JAL Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 So Rovers representatives went to watch Modeste, yet, he didnt play but hope to sign him before this saturday. I take it that they've witnessed him playing many times before or not.
King Kenny's Magic Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 More gentle ribbing than jealousy I think... All the liberal geeks rounding on someone who's doing anything he can to help the club. You make me sick!
bluebruce Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Quite how that makes someone a liberal is beyond me. So I'm just going to assume I missed a joke.
King Kenny's Magic Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Quite how that makes someone a liberal is beyond me. I've know a liberal when i hear one. Soft tw@ts. No cojones. Cowards.
bluebruce Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I'm pretty liberal, and I'd be happy to smack anyone in the face who called me a soft tw@t to mine. I won't bother going into the nine hundred other ways you're wrong as this isn't a politics site nor thread.
Eddie Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 He's a fairly decent player, never fulfilled his potential, but he would give us something a bit different and he is certainly better than most of our options up front.
philipl Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 So Rovers representatives went to watch Modeste, yet, he didnt play but hope to sign him before this saturday. I take it that they've witnessed him playing many times before or not. Very stylish way of sitting on the bench though. A very important attribute for Kean signings in case you hadn't noticed the number of appearances most of his signings make in their first half season.
roversfan99 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 He's a fairly decent player, never fulfilled his potential, but he would give us something a bit different and he is certainly better than most of our options up front. Interesting Eddie. With most of us unaware of him, what is he good at, and what is he not so good at? And do you think hes better than what Goodwillie has shown? Thanks.
neophox Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Modeste has joined Rovers on a 6 month deal. On offical Bordeaux site. http://www.girondins.com/pr%C3%AAt-%E2%80%93-anthony-modeste-%C3%A0-blackburn-rovers.html
lukey Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Hopefully he can start against Everton... Id love to see what he is like.
67splitscreen Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 No starts this season, has he appeared as a sub, match fitness? Should be ready by end of April 'Kean'
