[Archived] New premier league record

SAS

Most games without a clean sheet in one season. Norwich and Blackburn had both conceded in every game .....

Until yesterday when Norwich drew 0-0. So we now have the record to ourselves.

The previous record before this season was 18.

Typical of posters on this board to find something negative in a very very good performance and result.

Their goal was also deliberate handball, but don't mention that eh?

If speculation, rumour discussion and, now, even FACT is all too negative for you, please...

...post some positive news about...

The club's future prospects

The owners interest in the club

The manager's qualities

The quality of players being bought (sorry leased)

Seriously, please do.

Also first time Everton have scored in the first half for ages. (sorry.... cant be bothered looking up the last time they did.)

Our lasting inability to keep clean sheets is the reason we are down with the dead legs. I wonder if it even gets discussed?

Well spotted - luckily for us then then that teams don't get relegated on the 21st January.

Since the 23rd September we have spent one week outside of the relegation zone. Try and put a positive spin on that.

Kean is taking us down. And it's obvious to any man and his dog.

did i say they did.

only stated a fact as did the original poster

The fact we had a decent enough result yesterday is totally irrelvant to this discussion. Our defensive record under Kean is very, very poor and has been ever since he took charge of the team. It will take us down if it does not get resolved and I remain amazed we have gone so long without keeping a clean sheet. Shocking stat!

Moyes gets boos too at home, I think I heard them yesterday and I think I have read about it previously in the news. Actually, that club is often a threat to make the top half of the table. It's a mixed situation.

Perhaps Kean should have returned the favour to Moyes, showed his support for David by leaving at half time

True from the the start of the season Rovers are now the record holders (Norwich were with us up untill this weekend).

But heres a positive for you:

West Bromwich Albion set a Premier League record of 34 consecutive matches without keeping a clean sheet, between 29 August 2010 and 8 May 2011 (thats last season!) My link

Rovers have 29 consecutive in all competitions.

"Only" 24 in the league.

Some stats from the BBC preview of the Everton game:

"Blackburn have failed to keep a clean sheet in their opening 21 league games (as had Norwich, prior to their lunchtime match against Chelsea). It is the longest top-flight run without a shut-out from the start of the season since Sheffield United (26 matches) in 1975-76."

From SAS's first post, I guess that means that we now have the record for the Premier League rather than the top league?
