On a more positive note, I think if the Yak had been available tonight we would have murdered them!

However, he wasn't and we can now see that Modeste was let out on loan for a reason. Even though he showed glimpses of power, pace and skill, ultimately when he sees the goal it is like watching Jason Roberts mkII.

tom, did krul have to pull off any great saves or any saves for that matter? 1, which was the penalty save which i have already mentioned, we hit the bar which means it was never going to be on target then, modeste's chances were half chances and never looked like going in, dann's header didnt really trouble krul as it was straight into his hands!!!

You said we didn't create chances I just listed a hat full.

It's not only a chance if you make the keeper make a save it's just poor finishing, we did create the chances though.

Danns was a fantastic chance it was just a poor header.

yes we did creat some chances but no clear cut ones as i said most were potshots that were either blocked or just snatched at, mostly from modeste, dann's header never looked likely to beat the keeper as it was straight into his arms from about 3 yards out!!!

Givets chance from 3 yards, Modeste one one one in 1st half and Danns header are as clear cut as you can get.

modeste snatched shot never looked likely to go in, givet yes was a chance, dann's header as i have said was from 3 yards straight into the keeper's arms, never looked likely to go in so for me not a clear cut chance, dunn penalty miss and givet header were the only ones i would count as real chances!!!

Felt 2-0 flattered Newcastle, Rovers played well without getting any real clear chances, 2nd goal came when we was pushing for equaliser. However bad window was evident,

Must say tonight I did not enjoy the game, for these reasons,

I thought I would watch the second half with Simon, So sat where simon usally sits, As I approached my seat I got loads of abuse from birdie who was using language I will not repeat. He continued his abuse for a good five minutes with his wife joining in. I chose not to bite, because I go to rovers to watch the team win and support the players. I said to Simon, "How do you manage to sit here each week with this abuse?" Especially as he goes with his young son.

It the died off and we watched the match, At full time Birdie piped up again, with another round of abuse which included him trying to throw punches. I said to him "Birdie we come to football to watch football, there is little point falling out over a difference of opinion, he continued as did his wife, at this point i said to him " Its ok shouting your mouth off, but everyone sold their houses on Nuttall street when the new stadium was built bar you, who held Jack to ransom and took 2 and half times what your house was worth (Common Knowledge) When you are mouthing off, just remember you are here on Jacks cash. He continued to be aggressive and I never left where I was sat, at this point Glenn P came over and tried to defuse the situation. I left my seat and headed to the concourse where Birdie continued to try and throw punches and continued with his abuse, this continued outside the ground, until and number of supporters dragged him away and told him he was a discrace.

This behavour was disturbing. Many people have critisised protest, but it was once again a non protester who was being aggressive and trying ton cause issues. Throughout these protest despite the grief, I have had to keep my calm and take abuse on the chin, and even tonight I have took it on the chin, but that sort of supporter is a discrace, not only did he hold Jack to ransom, but he has the nerve to slag the everyday supporter off, for caring.

That does not make sense. A chance is not dictated by how good the strike is or how good the header is, a chance is defined by the opportunity to score a goal. Modeste with just the goalie to beat in front of the goal is a chance, does not matter if he fluffed it. Likewise if Dann has a free header 10 yards out with just the goalie to beat, it's a great chance. Does not matter he headed it straight into his hands, it's a chance.

Next three games - Arsenal, QPR and City....

We are screwed, if we weren't already before tonight...

WE have been screwed since the opening game against Wolves ...

It doesn't matter now it is far too late .....Venkys , Kean and Anderson to steal someone elses quote 'The axis of Evil' .....

Until all 3 are out of Ewood Park for good , we will continue to decline at a rapid rate..

All very sad.

That's awful, but credit to you for not rising to the bait Glen.

Rest safe in the knowledge that the vast majority of us supporters fully support you and are extremely grateful for all you have done.

You shouldn't have to put up with that Glen, tell the police who will be able to have a look at the CCTV. You know that if it was you throwing the punches, the club would be telling the other party to press charges.

Protests at the matches haven't helped players interested in coming to Rovers.

The players WERE playing tonight.

Sorry but I can partly agree with you about it not being Kean's fault, I say partly because he still only has one plan and if that doesn't work there's no plan B.

But saying that the protests haven't helped getting players in is just daft. You do understand how much players earn don't you? You do understand we play in the Premier League? So some angry fans because we're at the bottom of the league are going to stop them picking up a big fat pay packet and playing in one of the best leagues in the world? Really? You really believe that?

My take is that this is a symptom of the owners neglect. Firstly, Jermaine Jones was the midfield general we needed and found - they wouldn't stump up the cash for him at the end of his loan period. We ended up with a poor alternative in Petrovic. Add to that, with Yaks suspension and us being down at the bottom we needed a goal scorer and a bit of investment. For all of Modeste's effort, he clearly isn't a goalscorer. He'd probably play well alongside someone more prolific but as the lone front man he isn't going to bang them in.

I don't know why everyone is so critical of Petrovic. Just because he is tall doesn't mean he is an aggressive player. I though he passed the ball around fairly well tonight and he played one worldly through ball to Modeste at one point, who then proceeded to balls up the chance...

I don't mean to be a d**k about this; but shouldn't this be in the protest thread?

It's a match thread not a "day in the life of..."

Personally I'm not bothered what happened in the stands as it had nothing to do with me or the match.

Just seems like your posting for a pat on the back.

That in a nutshell is the crux of the issue. Yet again another manager outfoxed Kean tonight, he had no answer.

See people having a go at Petrovic? I might be alone in this but thought he played well and set up several of our chances with good passes in a forward direction. Unlike N'Zonzi who only passes back or to the side and slows down attacks. I thought we looked weaker when Petrovic came off. Some of Petrovic' long passes to Modeste in the first half almost reminded me of Tugay.

Agree with you there mate! Been watching his progress from his first hapless fumble on the ball to at long last a bit of hope for the future. When he came I was told he had a good eye for picking out that long pass although hadn't seen anything up until recently.

I reckoned someone said something at half time bout the pass for their goal, which I thought was one that either Dann or Lowe should have been running onto, which dented his confidence a bit.

i really like how modeste moves. he's got a good football brain. i won't slaughter him after his first full game for us. would like to see more of him

Agree!

Once again Kean trots out another list of statistics to illustrate how we outplayed the opposition. Sadly, the only statistic that counts is the column which shows goals for and against. We scored none, Newcastle scored two - end of story with regard to statistics!

The need for a couple of quality purchases in the transfer window just closed was evident for all to see tonight. Yes we got into positions where we might, indeed ought to have done better, but the sad truth is our players aren't good enough to capitalise on the possession they enjoy. If they were good enough we wouldn't be in the relegation places.

Unfortunately, with the window now closed we are stuck with what we have got and sadly I simply don't believe we have the quality to keep us up. Our inability to keep a clean sheet puts added pressure on a fairly average midfield to create chances and without Yakubu we stuggle to look convincing in front of goal. I really can't see Modeste or Goodwillie scoring the goals needed to keep us up. Modeste seems to flatter to deceive. He looks like he might do something, indeed he looks like he should do something but in front of goal he looks anything but convincing.

Newcastle, with a weakened team, should have been beaten just as Everton should have been beaten the other week. On both occasions we lacked the ability to exploit opposition weaknesses whilst our opponents seem to have little trouble in exploiting our weaknesses. It's the classic recipe for relegation.

Hanley or a non-sulking Samba HAS to come in for Dann at Arsenal, he is a liability, not just for their goal but the whole match he was dreadful. Hanley was in really good form and confident.

Agreed I have been utterly dissapointed in dann every game he has played, I Was bemused when hanley getting in good form was dropped for dann.

He is awful I dont know what strenghts he is supposed to have as a defender he makes me so nervous when he is near the ball or on the ball.

Its like he isnt even on the pitch.

But he is one of Keans boys so he will always get in the team. He should be swiftly dropped for hanley or samba asap
